Iβm feeling really low. Too many horrible things happening at once. But I know good things are happening too. So, if you want to share... tell me something good?

My almost two years old is a little joy. She is starting to talk in both English and Portuguese and walks around hugging everybody and insists on saying na-night to the dogs and chickens every night.
Her second favorite thing to do is list her family: mama, dada ,brother name, brother name, grandpa name, grandma name, other grandpa name, other grandpa name.
It's the sweetest thing.

We spent time with our grandparent-age neighbors yesterday in their backyard and they are so, so sweet with my 5 yo. We are so far away from our families; it is wonderful that they've kind of adopted each other as stand-in family for a bit.

Our basement (well, whole neighborhood) flooded yesterday (sob- rain rates of 3 inches/10 minutes it was INSANE) and my DD1 (7) was so incredibly helpful with a take charge attitude. She can be so stubborn and difficult, but when she can be a helper, she does the most. We are so proud of her. She was getting towels, laying them out, helping pump water, going to neighbors trying to get back up equipment/acting as a look out when people came to help, and last night as I started working on the laundry for every towel we own, I told her I would need help and I came back in the room and she had folded all of them <3

I thought of something this morning. I recently joined a crop swap group to share the peaches from our tree. People were so excited for peaches and telling me what they made with them, and we got a ton of different veggies in return. It was a win-win for everyone and gave me such a nice sense of community.

D1 loves being in kindergarten. Mornings are much less stressful than they've been in the past, because I don't have to rush to be in the office and both girls wake up and get ready without much reminding.

My husband got laid off last week (sorry to be a downer in the good thread) so celebrations are at a minimum. However he is meeting with a potential new employer today so fingers crossed.

We adopted a pair of guinea pigs on Monday. The first night we had them, on a whim I grabbed one of the kids' old pool robes (we have a bunch) to wrap them up in to hold them. One of them burrowed into the sleeve and contentedly sat there for a long time. He has figured out that robe sleeves make perfect hidey holes + you get pets and scritches. So I get this cuteness now.

DD had a great virtual preschool session this morning. She was participating for the entire 30 minute circle time with a giant grin on her face. π

@dc2lindon I'm not explaining why but in the last few days I've watched more guinea pig rescue videos than I care to admit.
