I had my glucose test this morning. They gave me fruit punch, which was like slightly watered down gatorade. Not bad at all! My hospital is easing up a little on restrictions, which I was told not to expect...so yay! DH will be allowed to leave the room (not hospital, but I'll take it lol). They think nitrous will be an option by the time I'm due. So much relief after this appointment!
I really need to get going with the nursery! How are you all coming along with yours?
Who else has appointments this week?

marigold glad you had a good appointment and that they are willing to let people leave rooms now. i don’t feel as if that’s anything reckless. i’m still really sad about not having visitors. we were out of state with our first and our second was in special care nursery during flu season. i’m just sad our girls will not be able to meet their brother at the hospital which i know is silly but i just wanted that experience. i tried to wait until today to call my ob about my discomfort/pain, but it was too much yesterday and i ended up spending nearly 7 hrs in l&d for an assessment. all tests came back normal except for liver enzymes which were only slightly elevated (and that wouldn’t explain luq pain) i feel pretty silly about it all and that it was kind of a huge wasted of time, but i’m grateful that baby is ok and there is nothing crazy going on with my pregnancy. i was having contractions but cervix is still long and closed. it’s just strange. they tested me again for covid as abdominal pain can be symptom so i’m waiting for that. they want to recheck enzymes at the end of the week (pending neg covid result)

I’m sorry polson. And I agree about the no visitor policy- the only comfort I’m getting from it is I think DD will be less wigged out meeting DS at home rather than in a hospital. I’ve definitely had some stronger BH contractions this time around. Nothing insane but last time it was mostly just the tight tight belly. This time it is more like a random period cramp along with tightness. I get 1-2 a day so I’m not worried but it’s fascinating how different this pregnancy is. Also I need him to not consistently jam a limb in my damn side! It was really pleasant trying to get through Target today 🤦🏻♀️

Hope you feel better and can stay out of L&D, polson! I haven't bought a carseat yet. We're going with a convertible this time. The travel system was so handy with DS, but we're not going to be taking her anywhere for a while (which is sad to think about). I'm considering a Maxi Cosi but haven't made up my mind.

Yesterday early evening I fell down the stairs while holding my 3.5yo. I don’t normally carry her like that but she was hurt and needed me. I stepped down like I was at the landing and then fell down 4 stairs onto my legs/shins. I didn’t hit my stomach and felt baby move. Luckily I already had a teletherapy appt scheduled so I asked the midwife and she said it sounded okay and I fell the best way I could have.
I thought I was okay until I started having pains in the sides of my stomach that were coming and going, forcing me to breathe through some of them. But they felt different than the contractions I had with the girls. I called the midwife, drank a ton of water, took a warm shower to try to relax, laid down and they didn’t really change much. Called back and she said it would be best to come in because the rhythmic nature made her concerned for preterm labor and she wanted to rule it out.
We didn’t have anyone to stay with the girls and it was 11pm so I went alone. Baby was moving a lot and sounded great, my cervix was closed. They said it was likely muscle contractions related to falling but it really freaked me out! They kept me for a while and then sent me home with a med to help my muscles relax so I could rest. It was about 2:30am when I finally got to bed.
I slept for a few hours and then struggled through getting the girls off to school this morning. Ate and then slept for about 3 hours until the pains started waking me again. Later the girls watched a movie, my sister brought dinner and the kids played in the backyard for a while. I bathed them and got them to bed and now the pains are happening again so I’m laying down. Hoping to have the energy to shower in a little bit. I’m really hoping this doesn’t continue much longer!

Fearsy ugh i’m glad you’re ok and that baby checked out fine too. i’m sorry you had a rough night and a long day after because of it - hopefully your body has calmed down by now. my covid test is neg - i’ve had 2 in a month now and it has stressed me out so much. i think that my pain in my side is probably just from overdoing it. this pregnancy has been so much harder physically for me which shouldn’t be as surprising.

how’s everyone doing this weekend?
this has been such a long week. h has been working long hours and had to go out of town yesterday just for the day. he flew frontier and multiple rows, including his, were full😤. both of the girls have runny noses and i’m hoping it’s just a quick cold. i really feel like i am just surviving in the parenting department - i’m trying to give myself grace but there has been a lot of screen time and mac n cheese/chicken nuggets for meals. i just have been feeling like garbage.
my follow up appointment on friday went alright. dr thinks that pain/ache is probably just abdominal tearing which i am thinking too. they did a recheck of liver enzymes and they were slightly higher than monday. i feel like my body is falling apart.

Fearsy, that sounds so frightening! How are you feeling? polson, I hope the pain stops, soon. I bought a carseat today, and now I'm contemplating washing all of her clothes. I realized how busy we're going to be for the next 2 months, and nesting kicked in big time. But so has 3rd trimester exhaustion, so I might nap instead of getting stuff done 😂

Ugh polson the flight crowding would stress me out. I had to explain to a kid at work this week that he can’t take his mask off when he ran up to me with his hands in his mouth asking if I thought he had a cavity. I’m not a dentist kid, put your mask on!

It was a rough few days after the fall but I haven’t felt the same pain anymore which is such a relief. Which car seat did you buy? We still need one and planning on doing an infant carrier first for convenience.

It feels like a huge win when I get veggies on the table for dinner. 😆

PWing it up here. This weekend MH has been working on painting again. Can’t remember if I told y’all but his quarantine/Covid project the last few months has been working on painting the entire interior of our house, top to bottom. Ceilings, walls, windows, trim, doors. So much painting. Anyway, he is finally to the upstairs, finished our master bedroom yesterday and he’s working on spraying doors right now.
He’ll do the upstairs hall and then we’ll move DD1 into DD2’s room while he gets the first room done. Then we’ll move them both permanently (hopefully 🤞🏻) in together and tackle the nursery. MH is already ahead of schedule on the list of things that have to get done before baby so that’s feeling pretty good.

Fearsy, we got a Maxi-Cosi Pria convertible. Maxi-Cosi is having a good sale right now on all of their carseats. We're skipping the infant carrier this time. I'm a little worried that I'll regret that, but we're going to be leaving the house so infrequently with this baby.

We didn’t use the infant carrier for more than 6mo with our first two but it was so convenient to load them into it and then carry it to the car. We’re hoping our big kids will still be able to go to preschool after baby is born so the in and out of the car will be much more convenient this way. If it weren’t for preschool then we’d probably skip it too.

marigold i also feel like i am deep in the 3rd tri exhaustion. i washed clothes this weekend too and that was the extent of what i’ve been able to get done. i wish i would have used my second tri energy a little better! Fearsy i’m glad you are feeling better. i am also planning on an infant carrier for this one for the same reason. let me know what you decide on. i have done zero research. we used a graco previously and was fine with it, but i need to figure out the car arrangement. we have the option of a 3rd row in my car but at this point i need to do 3 across in the second row i think. we have britax seats for the girls and i’m hoping it won’t be an issue to fit a carrier in there. i’m hoping we don’t need to buy slimmer seats for them.

The 3YO has been waking early in the morning needing his blanket every morning, and twice last night. It was annoying but I was able to go back to sleep after wards but the past week it's impossible to fall back asleep and I am exhausted.
What do I doooooo? I cover him up before I go to bed but he kicks it off and then gets cold in the morning. I might see if he'll let me throw him back into a sleep sack. Or I wondered if a flat sheet half tucked in might somehow make it easier for him to slip under and pull it up?

I'm going to talk to him about a sleep sack or maybe a bigger blanket tucked in to see if that makes it easier. Every night before bed I'm pleading with him to PLEASE FIGURE IT OUT AND LET ME SLEEP.

piratecat solidarity sister- i have the same problem with my 4.5 yr old...and she wakes anywhere from 1-3x a night with the “cover me” nonsense. we have tried a weighted blanket and a sleep sack. i have not tried a sheet or blanket tucked in yet but we are finally getting her a big bed in the next few weeks and i’m hoping real sheets and a quilt will also solve this problem. i don’t know what i’ll do if she’s waking that many times once november comes but i’m terrified.

It worked!! He woke up a bit mopey that his feet were still cold under the blanket but he didn't wake me and I slept all night! We'll put some socks on him and see if this keeps up. I don't know why I didn't try this earlier.
