Right now you can't lurk without logging in. That's subject to change.
You can't post without logging in. I think that's a safe thing.
We can also limit what boards lurkers can see without signing in etc.
Just an FYI.

I'm always logged in even when lurking. Which is why I normally out myself with tits.
ETA- words are hard this morn on only a few hours of sleep.

I mean it's not hard to register or sign in so if anybody is wanting to know what's going on they can sign up/in. I like it and it feels "safe". Especially for ppl who are nervous to share pics later on.

I think you should let people lurk the general discussions without logging in over the next week so people can see what is happening and make their choices about coming here. I think it is an awesome idea to protect certain boards from lurking without signing in. I have also never signed out in my entire forum life so that is moot for me. Exactly this. You want to read 'gen discussions'? Cool. You want to creepy lurk my BMB? Eeeeehhhhh....why?

I think open to guests is better than locked down in the planning and even afterwards. Locked down and we will never get new members after the initial tcf thing We can set any board to be like members only on scary mommy where you can only see other boards Aside from main selection Until getting 25 or other # regular posts. Not posts saying 123 instead of password protected boards for pics that people can ask to join the day they join set that they have to have x number of posts in general board to get onto other boardsI'm thinking like you join here and post for a bit on general and then you can join a bmb when you get past that hill of post count and then you have to be a regular on your bmb for 50 or more posts before you can see their picture board Not sure that makes sense Drinking more coffee I think that is a fantastic idea but it should be more than 20 posts.

We're locked down for now cause of some weird stuff last night. It's not a big deal.

There are a lot of people on here and the general discussion areas can be intimidating. Lots of people start out on here through BMBs or specific interest groups and it would be a shame for them to never make it there because they didn't want to post 20+ things on Parenting. That board moves fast, there's a definite culture in place, and it's daunting even to some established members here.

I think we'd be cutting ourselves off from new people. If someone comes here looking for a BMB, they're not necessarily going to like having to post X number of things elsewhere just to find other people with similar due dates. A lot of us started on TB/TCF by finding our BMBs first.

Or maybe just have one sub board, maybe on general, that is post protected for selfie nights, aw and things of that nature?

What about just having so many posts period. Not so much on the general board. We can set it so these boards are viewable to guests and these are viewable to mrmbers and these boards require post counts and these require way more post count and highest level is pw protected That seems really complicated for all involved.

I think the post count requirement is an artificial sense of security. There were plenty of selfies, AW posts, etc. on TCF without doing this, we just knew not to quote them and to expect them to be gone shortly afterward.

Essentially I just like the feature and want to use it some where lol. ::rip shruggy guy::
