Wow, tomorrow is September! 😮
H took off on Friday and the weather is supposed to be hot and humid. We are planning a family pool day. Fingers crossed it works out.

September usually means the very beginning of cooling off in Phoenix and I’m so glad, it’s been record breaking heat this year (of course). I took Friday off too, I’m hoping I won’t regret it. I’m planning to paint the master bathroom because it really needs a redo. Dd2 has started to try and sing when I sing to her at night and it’s so darn cute! Hope everyone has a good week

It’s been a hard couple of weeks. There’s been work stuff, remote school sucks, and we had to do a bowel clean out for J so I’ve been up to my eyeballs in poop the last couple of days. Z is good thankfully. He has started telling me love you randomly and trying to sing songs, which is adorable.

I hate it.

So I applied for covid related leave (FFCRA.) It took my supervisor getting involved to get a response from HR after over a week. Then they told me because I have intermittent FMLA for James that I needed to use that time even though FMLA is for an unrelated qualifying diagnosis, which I'm pretty sure can't be legal. After I questioned the legality of it all, they told me I need to use all of my PTO before they would reassess the situation, which they also can't ask of me according to FFCRA. My supervisor and program manager are now involved and it's been escalated to the HR manager. The law says "If you are an eligible employee, you are entitled to paid sick leave under the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act regardless of how much leave you have taken under the FMLA." so I feel like they are incorrect and I'm at burn it down levels of rage. I'm asking for 4 hours a week so J can get his IEP services. I'm in freaking public health and we've been at this for 6 months and they don't know what the hell they are talking about. I'll find out today what the resolution is, but my program manager has promised me that even if I have to get paid out of our program's general funds, we will make it work. That's the only thing that has me hanging on right now.

PennyCandy sorry for the hassle! You'd think HR would want to get it right, too, so they don't get in trouble.

Work is so crazy this week. We have an employee out with Covid so I'm splitting my time between his project and my own. I was triple booked for meetings today. I don't like to say 'no', but I did have to bow out of one of them. I followed along in the other two meetings from two different devices. Thankfully, I didn't have to be active in either one.
We don't start back to school until the 21st. We chose the 100% virtual option for our kindergartner and 2nd grader. I appreciate the extra time to prepare and learn how other working parents are handling the workload. It's also given me some extra time to put together their work space.

Our childcare provider had to let a family go a week or so ago. There was a lot of drama. It was not good. The family ended up reporting her to CPS. I support our childcare provider and I know without a doubt the allegations they are making aren't true. What's worse yet is that the mom used to be a childcare provider before she quit to sell Lularoe and actually took care of J as an infant. We quit her because she wasn't reliable. I have to talk to the CPS person in the morning. I'm kind of shook that someone could be so vengeful to risk someone's livelihood like this, not to mention all of the children and parents that attend. What would 2020 be without drama, right?

PennyCandy How immature! What a waste of resources, too. I hope the case worker see right through the allegations.

I ended up talking to the department of labor yesterday and they confirmed work is incorrect so I filed a complaint. We’ll see what happens. I’m not the first person they’ve done this to, but I’m the only one fighting it apparently.

If you said love you, she would respond with "love".

PennyCandy, I am glad that you were able to get some guidance on the leave policy. And that sucks about your child care provider. What a waste of someone's time to investigate a false complaint.

Its been a week. Doing PD all week, my FIL is dealing with an infection in his leg and is so damn stubborn about going to the doctor and we discovered our hot water heater had a crack in it. So the plumbers were here on Thursday replacing it. We ending up getting a "tankless" water heater. Then woke up yesterday and when I went downstairs, I could smell gas. So we called them back and there was a defect in one of the fittings. My H could tell that they had tested when it was installed and the technician was so upset.

I’m sorry you guys have a had a rough week too. Here’s hoping the weekend is long and relaxing and next week is better.
