Is anybody watching this on Netflix??? I live it. Even the annoying people are somewhat endearing?

I binged it a couple of weeks ago. I loved it and wished there were more episodes.

Well, this is an interestingly titled show. How so? I think they could have come up with something less boring/snappier. Rhyming or something? “Matchmaker Sima Taparia guides clients in the United States and India in the arranged marriage process, offering an inside look at the custom in today's world.“

I love it and also need more episodes. I also loved Millionaire Matchmaker, so that’s probably why I enjoy this. I was a bit uncomfortable with the obsession with fair skin.

Ah! I forgot about this show. NPR Pop Culture Happy Hour really enjoyed it so I’ve been meaning to get there.

I haven't watched it yet, but apparently a guy I went to HS with is on it, so I keep meaning to check it out. He gets matched up with one of the women and everyone on fb is saying he dodged a bullet.

And yes- there are definitely parts that are problematic.
The "fair, thin, trim and slim" mantra was surprising. But then so many other people featured didn't match the "ideal", so it was interesting to see it play out.

Oh man! So curious which one now. 😂 His name is Srinivas. Ah, here's an article about him, which also says he dodged a bullet. 🤣

Oh he was great and super nice. He did dodge a bullet! And she was terrible to him.

Oh he for sure dodged a bullet. That woman was a bit much to say the least. Her mother too.

”Srini the loser!” That part made me cringe so hard. He seemed nice.

I watched it and was fascinated learning about all the different rules and expectations of young people in India. Some of it was definitely uncomfortable and I’ve seen some of the press about the stereotypes the show perpetuates. The one guy whose parents kept pressuring him to marry, that was so painful to watch. He obviously had no interest in marrying anybody and only did it to please his parents and get his mom off his back. I’ve forgotten all their names since I watched a while ago. My favorite was the wedding planner from NJ, she was so charming. I really felt for her being considered “unsuitable” because her parents were from Guyana.

I binged this a while ago but forgot to look for a thread. Some of the parents made me smile like the couple on the couch where the wife did all the talking and her husband just chuckled. She said something along the lines of "I talk enough for the both of us and now he doesn't even respond because I've already answered myself". I thought it was adorable and it reminded me of my parents.
The whole process was interesting to see of saying what you wanted to the matchmaker and how close she was able to line someone up. It makes sense and I do like this. When you think about starting a family, there are important aspects you want to touch on such as someone who gets along well with your family (if you're family-oriented), religion, finances, etc. It cuts out all the guess-work/sifting through the dating world quickly to get you straight to the point. Both parties know what the end-goal of the relationship is and have a baseline of expectations to start at. I feel like it makes the process simplified. I have friends that are in the dating world and on dating apps that have a hard time finding a serious relationship since they say the apps are used for hook-ups and then they're ghosted if you don't give it up on the first date.
I felt for the last woman introduced at the end of the series who was divorced and living with her dad in Colorado and the teacher-guy whose father went to prison.
