Morning! It's the boys' last baseball games today, sort of. I think DH and one of the other team's coaches are going to have another unofficial game for Colin's group because they (the Dads) can't get enough. Colin loves it and the other team is all the kids he played with the last 2 years, so those games are always a lot of fun. We also don't know if soccer is a go yet, so we may as well have something going on.
Not much else over here. I need to sneak in a couple hours of work today and tomorrow, but I'll also want a nap since I ran longish this morning. Decisions, decisions.

Morning!
No big plans today.
We did food trucks last night then after the kids were in bed, went over to our next door neighbor’s house for drinks on their back porch (we can see our kids’ bedrooms from there).
At one point I looked at my watch thinking it was probably 11ish...it was 12:30 😳 Needless to say we get along well with these people.
B lost another tooth yesterday that we had only known was loose for about 24 hours, whoops. Slow down, kid, tooth fairy is running out of cash!

I have a paper to write today about the titanic. I have the call with the principal and I need to finish programming iPads for the school. It’s suppose to be over a 100 today so no outside time for the kids but I’m hoping to do some games with them.

Morning. DH is working right now, but should be done around lunch time. We are going to the lake with friends this afternoon and then grilling at one of their houses after. I have a giant watermelon that I need to cut up to bring. lahdeedah I hope your H is feeling better, and if not that he can be seen today.

I’m cleaning out a section of the basement today— one big Tupperware container a day. Today’s was a box of notes and letters from hs and college. It took me a lot longer to go through it because I got lost in a world of nostalgia.

Nothing huge on the agenda. I need to wash Cadence's bedding and clean out my car. Sounds like an exciting day. 🙄

I put this in the other thread, but we took him to the ER because his doc wants to rule out appendicitis. The boys and I are back home and just waiting to hear from him with updates.

One other thought if not appendicitis ...gall stones/gall bladder issue? I know a couple people who have had to have theirs removed and it started with abdominal pain on the right side, vomiting, etc. Hope they can figure out what's going on!

So SIL called and woke up mh, asked if he was going to FIL's today, apparently it's his bday, but I was unaware. So she says she is going to order CFA and cookies, so mh says he'll go over. Then she ropes him into picking everything up because she isn't actually going over there, she's in some tennis tournament at her country club today....this family is so odd...

flamingo, I was going to suggest gall bladder too lahdeedah. When MH had his attack it started with him feeling like he had to go the the bathroom but couldn't. He, too, is like the most regular guy on the planet, so I was like, are you sure? you pooped this morning! But we ended up in the ER and he had emergency surgery to have it removed.

So they made the call last night that school is delayed and starting all virtual. I just don't get it. Our numbers in NJ are great and in our town are even greater. This sucks. And they sent the email out at like 10:15 on a friday night. Way to ruin our weekends...

Finally going to the lake today. I have 4 days off and work has been so crazy lately I've been putting in a lot of extra hours so I'm so ready for this.
We're hitting another heat wave so we also might hit the beach one day.
Boredom has been really getting to Cass lately so I'm glad I have time to do some things with her.

But then I could remember if you were NJ or right over the border.

yeah guster, I think a whole lot of other towns will follow suit. The new regulations the governor put out really makes it hard to justify being open. I was feeling so good yesterday after seeing the pedi and he agreed the boys should be in school, and now I just feel like the rug was pulled out from under me. We will need to find an alternative b/c I am not great with teaching S and he needs to be with kids. I have 2 possible options I am considering (a pod with some friends and the Y program). Just waiting on costs and more details.

The Governor says it will be a district by district decision but she also delayed the start of school for everyone and has a state wide calendar this year. She delayed because schools said they need more time to prepare but ours wasn’t one of them so it’s a bit annoying.

It’s in the low 70’s today and going to rain later so I’m trying to get dh and C motivated to go walk around somewhere prior.

Welp. It’s appendicitis. He will get laparoscopic surgery in a few hours and should be able to come home tomorrow.
I’m just glad I opted for him to go to my hospital. His doc told him to go to a smaller hospital because low ER volume and I wasn’t confident in that plan because if he did have to have surgery, that hospital is the last on the list of hospitals I would want to be at. So at least we made the right decision there.
He’s pretty healthy otherwise, so it should go well, but send good vibes our way.

I don't fully understand them - maybe kim22 can speak more intelligently on it than I can. But one thing was a very specific HVAC system, which we did not have. It also seems he is making the districts certify that they believe they can open safely and if not, they don't have to open safely. Many districts do not want to certify that (which I understand, b/c who knows what safe is), but I just hate this is all at the 11th hour.

Many districts do not want to certify that (which I understand, b/c who knows what safe is), but I just hate this is all at the 11th hour. The unions in our area (NY not CT) are calling for updated HVAC systems (there are specific details there), proper ppe available to all who need it, they’re calling for testing, they’re calling for 14 day closures when there is a Covid case (I don’t have all the details on that one with me), and they are also calling for the option for all students and teachers who need to to be virtual. This just went out last night. I don’t know what Cuomo says about this. The testing and the ppe might’ve be the things holding us back.
