I voted early yesterday to avoid long queues but forgot about it until 7.30 along with everyone else apparently so i still ended up standing in line for 40 mins. Everyone with a name in the first half of the alphabet decided to vote at 7.30 last night because the M-Z booth was empty and people were walking right in for that one. I voted NDP but had to have a really good think about it. Honestly if the NDP had a real shot of winning this election i couldn't have voted for them based on the platform they put forward, it was lacking in content in so many areas, a lot of good promises but no solid plans on how to get there. At this time i think it's fine because i feel like i'm making a point that i want better but if they ever get to a point that they are a real contender i'll need to see a much more in depth platform. Conversely my provincial NDP have plans on plans on plans and i'll be skipping to the polls to vote for them in 18 months time. Another 18 months of the current clown 😳😩

I noticed a bunch of PPC signs pop up on the corner of one of the streets by DS aftercare. It's not outside anyones house though so i'm guessing / hoping its the party putting them up and not residents. There’s a couple on lawns around here. 🤨🙄

I woke up feeling very nervous about the results today. The polls are so close. I have no idea how accurate they are. Planning on watching the results come in tonight even though I know it will probably make me more anxious.

I wonder if we’ll actually get results today given the number of mail in ballots this time

I wonder if we’ll actually get results today given the number of mail in ballots this time I was wondering the same thing. An article I read on CBC this morning said if it's close we probably won't know until Tuesday evening at the earliest. And it is looking like things are going to be...quite close.

Some guy refused to wear a mask so they had to bring a ballot box outside for him. We live in a small town so there’s literally no wait. I was in and out in less than a minute. We made eye contact in the parking lot and I gave him the dirtiest look lol.

This is all so infuriating because we’re going to end up either another liberal minority or conservative government. Oh, and the PPC might gain seats. Yay, thanks Trudeau. 😑

Yay, thanks Trudeau. 😑 i feel like there's no winning here at all. It's either Trudeau for 4 more years, minority government, conservative government - all bad, no good, don't want outcomes.

my area is rife with PPC... it's gross. Like people painted PPC <3 on an overpass. it's so dumb.
My dad posted "my little conservative" on my brother's pic of his baby at the polls and I was rolling my eyes. Like he doesn't have the balls to tell you but all of your children voted NDP.
He knows better than to try that on my shit lol. I am also nervous for the outcome of this and there doesn't seem like a good one honestly.

My husband and I voted NDP but I don’t think they have a chance. Fucking Trudeau. He is a dick for calling this election now. For what it’s worth, I feel less anxious because… there is no good outcome. Nothing to be hoping for. Lol so doom and gloom!
Also, the few PPC signs in my neighbourhood also have “no more lockdowns” signs. So, at least I know who to avoid!

I don't know why I'm torturing myself watching CBC coverage, everything is so early it keeps flip flopping and making me nervous when I should know better.

Oh same, but I am getting some kicks out of the maritime coverage. I have a personal connection to 3 people discussed so far lol. It really is just so small. And smitty’s - hahaha.

Voted! I’m avoiding the news for another hour. I’m excited for my region. I’m nervous for the country and I think the best I can hope for is another liberal minority with more green and NDP representation, and no PPC.

Ok we are watching. We took the kids to vote - I really, really love doing that. But this day has been a dumpster fire in like 5 different areas so the anxiety I have over this election feels just … unfettered. Deep breaths…

Like so many I’m beyond pissed about the timing of this election. The majority of the voting base is of child rearing age, and now you’re making us think about an election as we’re stressed enough by sending our kids back to school? Trying to monopolize on how much we are pissed at the conservative provincial govts to get a majority? Fuck off. And it feels so gross with the grave counts at residential schools still rising. Over 6000 children’s graves and still counting but no more media coverage, all the attention is on the election. I cannot imagine how it feels for indigenous Canadians to be asked to vote right now, as a massive collective grieving is happening.

It is one of the only times there is so much maritime discussion happening in prime time I'm sure.
They keep talking about the Green votes going to the Cons. I'm surprised about that.

When they called the election, the fourth wave hadn't really hit, right? I have the memory of a goldfish.
I guess I don't really blame them for striking while they thought the iron was hot, but totally misjudging. I get how it is not great how it is actually playing out, but I can see why they thought immediately post vaccine rollout was theoretically a good time. I didn't think they were capitalizing on anger at the Conservatives so much as a successful vaccination push. Then things went to hell again and they look like jackasses.
I am totally fine with anything but a conservative win. I keep the bar low. Minority government controlled by a Liberal/NDP coalition would be decent, I think.

The 4th wave had definitely started when they called the election and whether they were capitalizing on vaccine rollout or conservative backlash they still called an unnecessary election to game the system and try to eek out an extra 2 years.
I’m so angry that the already delicate safety bubble around my kids school was completely destroyed by hundreds of people tramping through the building to vote. 4th wave or not kids where always still going to be at risk without vaccines

Lol Rosie is far from my fav but I love her undisguised shade towards the PPC “just to point out the health measures they are protesting are those put in place to keep people safe during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC”

So ridiculous. They aren't where I am. Empty retail spaces and convention centres are where it is happening. The schools noped right out of this election. It is crazy that they are doing it in schools some places.

A minority con govt would make me sick to my stomach. I can’t even let myself entertain them getting a majority.
Ideal (realistic) outcome for me is probably Lib minority with a historic number of seats for NDP.

Am I going to get out a box of crackers and tub of cream cheese or am I going to be reasonable and go to bed? It’s nearing decision time.
