I am surprised to see as much negativity towards Trudeau here as there is. No judgement, just surprise. I don’t think he’s great or perfect but I do think he’s done a pretty decent job through Covid of being a human being and governing at what I imagine is an extremely difficult time to be a leader.
The NDP always lines up best with my values too, but I find Trudeau palatable from the options. Again - oppositional Albertan here so I might like him to just spite all the “Fuck Trudeau” bumper stickers around here.

Relative because politicians are always going to do stupid political shit I disapprove of. I think the NDP would also do stupid political shit I disapprove of if put in power, so I am kind of resigned on that front. I agree that his pandemic response was solid. The Canadian right is getting increasingly volatile, I find. I read too many comment sections on the CBC where their complaints alternate between "Trudeau failed to acquire vaccines!" to "Trudeau is forcing vaccines on us!" Then from "Trudeau is a weak, wishy washy leader who punts big decisions!" to "Trudeau is an authoritarian!" I am starting to lean towards voting Liberal to piss off the whiny conservatives. I cast my vote for spite. Spite 2021.

My dislike of Trudeau has gone back years but i agree that he's done a decent job on the covid response, i'd give him a solid B+ there. But there's so much other shit that i can't get past, i find he's weak on policy and doesn't take a stand when needed, he's got a terrible record for standing up for Indigenous rights, he's had multiple political scandals and refuses to take on any accountability. And calling this election now is bullshit Of course he's better than our provincial clown car but I don't want him as our PM for another 4 years. If he'd stepped down and Freeland was running i'd be happier to vote Libs.

Oh I do like Freeland.
And I am very very appreciative of Trudeau’s response to Rebel Media last night.

But at least only one has been convicted of hate crimes so that’s a bonus 🤷🏼♀️ I’m steeling myself for Farkas to win though because I think he has the most name recognition but may the lord have mercy on us all

The fact that prioritizing access to clean drinking water for all Canadians is even being debated in these debates is basically the easiest way to highlight why I have no grace left for Trudeau. Who would have stopped him from pulling out all the stops, with the utmost of urgency, the minute he took on the role of PM? He could have had it done by now, in some way or another, and he didn’t. I don’t want to hear that it’s complicated. Do it.
I do think Jagmeet would literally make that priority one. You take care of basic needs before you do anything else, and we are failing Canadians on Reserves without drinking water (and in many other ways).
I’m also bitterly laughing that his own failure to follow through on election reform is probably what keeps him up most at night right now. I hope it gives him the tummy troubles.

Lol the museum they’re holding the debate in also has a children’s museum attached, and my kids have run around like lunatics right where they’re set up.

While I hate to even give them a platform I have to question why the PPC isn’t there but the Green Party is when they are polling ahead of the greens. And why does the Bloc get a place when they only run in QC. Is it all based on who already has seats?

Was saying “our laws aren’t discriminatory because we don’t believe they are” the only thing he will say tonight that at least answers a question on topic? I can’t believe the confidence this man emits while spewing nothing comprehensible.

Trudeaus not wrong about how ugly it would have been for anyone to come in after Harper. I know so many feds who are still traumatized from those days, when scientists were being muzzled and contents from the national archives being -literally - incinerated.

Is Blanchet a good speaker or is he just benefiting from everyone being extra polite not to interrupt him because it’s not his first language?
