My city had an anti-mask anti-lockdown anti-vaxx protest today. There were about 35 people (so not a huge group, but still). The stuff they were shouting was rediculous.

That's so exciting! I grew up in NB, so I can be somewhat irreverent when speaking of it, but I think everyone in the Atlantic provinces is looking forward to the ability to travel outside of our tiny little plots of dirt. It is like we are all locked in our rooms right now. And sure, we still won't be able to leave the (metaphorical) house, but a trip to the dining room still seems absolutely thrilling.

Tlex you guys are going into another lockdown right? It’s a shit show. We were already in a lockdown, so now we’re in a mock down? Maybe a shut down. We were in the grey zone? But now we’re in an “emergency brake.” Patios are closed but outdoor service is ok? But everyone should stay home. Big box stores can stay open. Schools are open. Until they’re not. It’s nuts.

'Emergency brake' has brought me to a level of rage I had not yet experienced in this pandemic. No no, don't use one of the many levels you've established, let's make up a meaningless term and pick a random set of restrictions that will do nothing except hurt small businesses. FOR A MONTH.

Let's close patios and open golf clubs while we're at it

I’m still fucking mad! This is an utter failure of government that we’re even in this position.

My TikTok has just turned into the part of TT where people trash Doug Ford. Have you seen the videos of packed malls? Sure that seems fine, definitely not as bad as my local patio with tables 6 feet apart outdoors.

I will just continue to rage into the conservative void that is Saskatchewan and slow-Moe as premier. At his last press conference he said we're weeks out from this being done....as our variants ramp up and our ICU #'s ramp up. I hate him.

Argh that must be so frustrating!

I don't even listen to the press conferences anymore because he just word vomits nothingness, and doesn't answer press questions with any real answers.

I can’t even express my level of rage anymore. Somehow I’ve landed on Alberta teacher tiktok and holy shit, this new curriculum for Alberta. It’s like the Onion wrote it. (But actually, it the Vermont curriculum Alberta bought and did a search/replace on 😭)

(But actually, it the Vermont curriculum Alberta bought and did a search/replace on 😭) im embarrassed to admit I know nothing about the current curriculum or how the new one differs. I know there are parts that have made me angry so far like putting more emphasis on Eurocentric history and not even touching residential schools until middle school. I always feel like DS is super far behind on his academics based on what I read here but apparently he’s right on track with the current curriculum.

I mostly feel bad for my kids. I’ve kept DS home for virtual learning since last Spring and am worried about how he will adjust when (if?) in person starts again in the Fall. I’ve been taking the kids to the park lately because they need to have some interaction. I feel a bit bad and nervous about it, but we’ve really done nothing this whole time (With the exception of a week completely isolated at the Rez last summer) and I’m worried about their development.
I’ve always been aboard the “kids are resilient” train, but I think my family is at a bit of a breaking point. DD is three and has had two covid birthdays. It all just sucks.

AB just opened up vaccines to anyone born before 2005 with underlying conditions. I reaaaally want to lie and say I’m pregnant to get one but I won’t.
Still not vaccinating essential workers though 🤬

babybean, that's so tough. It definitely sucks. There are no good or easy decisions in these scenarios. I feel like we just don't have any idea what the long term impact on kids is going to be. My partner's kids have been remote schooling the whole time as well, and they had to decide in March about whether they would do remote again in September for all of next year. And apparently it's not something that can be changed later. I understand needing advanced notice but even September is a lifetime away in terms of how things may change.

I thought essential workers were already eligible? only hospital based healthcare workers are currently eligible. Others are listed in group 2C, MH is a physiotherapist and decided he’s not going back to work, the only ppe he gets is a paper mask and he’s seeing 8 people a day in a tiny room. It’s not worth it anymore

But he’s worried whatever condition you list gets reported back to your family doctor
