Realizing I know very little about the cogs of provincial politics. Is there any process that would actually remove ford as premier besides voting him out in 2022?

The AB premier had an approval rating below Ford and that was from before the Christmas travel bullshit from his party. So add me to the How to Replace the premier query list

Kenney is like a cartoon character if how to fuck up - everything you touch. Like a reverse King Midas. This is unreal. Tlex, if you can’t go to the park there is always Hawaii. Heard it’s nice. The absolute hypocrisy and sheer levels of bullshit EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK is just so exhausting.

He's also awful at public speaking, i can't watch briefings with him anymore. I discovered the MLP that that travelled to California twice is mine. I hate read his newsletter that gets shoved in my mail every quarter and disliked him already, now i'm at loath levels

emma that’s how I feel about Michelle Rempel. Everytime she does something heinous and/or stupid I just die with loathing and embarassment.

RAGE SCREAM this is exactly it — I’m being blamed for not taking restrictions seriously for taking my kids out to parks but you’re vacationing in HAWAII??? Fuck offffff. A conservative MPP from Toronto literally tweeted last night about how parents not keeping kids home and indoors is the problem right now - but school transmission is not. LOL

Have you all seen that in Ontario it’s at police discretion to decide if someone following the restrictions is still breaking rules? Because yeah, we can totally trust police with that.

I've been hearing a lot of protests from organizations that support people experiencing homelessness at how the curfew in Qc (and now this stay at home order) is only going to further harm them. The response has been 'we are training police on how to deal with these situations and use their discretion' like yeah, that's worked out just great before. ARGHHHH

there's a church in calgary that has multiple times refused to comply with the Dec 13 restrictions and so far the only repercussion has been a $1500 fine for the pastor. If that was a private business they would have been shut down so quick and fined much more. I hate that churches are given special treatment, it's ridiculous that they are even still allowed to operate at 15% capacity

There was a second church on the same street with almost exactly the same name and that pastor went on the news and was like please stop phoning us, we believe in covid and are virtual. You're looking for Joe down the street 🤣

Our province just called an election. I feel like this is not the time, and I'm nervous people are gonna do something stupid.

Interesting - suing Twitter in Canada since we don't have the first amendment rights like they do in the US "West Vancouver billionaire Frank Giustra has been given the go-ahead to sue Twitter in a B.C. courtroom over the social media giant's publication of a series of tweets tying him to baseless conspiracy theories involving pedophile rings and Bill and Hillary Clinton." www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/pizzagate-twitter-defamation-giustra-1.5874201

What’s the cause for calling the election? our Premier actually resigned last year (late Spring I think) so they had to call own within 12 months anyway. But there's a LOT happening right now with Air Canada pulling flights, the oilfield being a mess, and general Covid exhaustion... and I'd hate to see people vote in the complete opposite direction because of it all. Like the opposition has been arguing for us to do basically the opposite of everything we have done with Covid this year, and had we listened we would be just as bad off as some of the other Provinces (or worse off because our healthcare system would not be able to handle it).

Not that I ever had much, but I’m like.... you have pushed me far over the liberal edge and now I am loudly shouting I am a socialist, I hope you’re happy fuckers!

Honestly, I wish the Premier would just stay. He has done a good job. I'm not even perturbed by the slow vaccine rollout. They have been playing it cautious the whole time, so I don't get the objection to their reserving second doses. It seems like he resigned because he was tired of being yelled from all sides and resigning freed him up to make better decisions. It is a shame, though.

Our premier spends most of his social media time blaming Trudeau for...things that are not his fault, because his base just laps. it. up. I hate it. He is botching our COVID response so badly we are now the worst in the country - and his response to any of it is that he has had a perfect response. I wish the federal government could step in and take over managing it because yeesh.

Non-Covid topic: Nova Scotia just instituted a "presumed consent" model for organ donation. I was surprised, since I hadn't heard any discussion of switching, but I think it is a good move. I wonder if it will spread to other provinces.

Hopefully it just becomes automatic as well.

I wonder if it will spread to other provinces. I saw that on CBC the other day and I really hope it becomes the norm in other provinces. I assume they'll be tracking it to see how it goes there and using that data to support (hopefully) roll out elsewhere.

Do anyone think they’re going to extend school closures? With cases going down idk if they’re going to lean into that or keep them home so they go down further. I get anxiety not being able to plan ahead.

I get anxiety not being able to plan ahead. I'm feeling very concerned about the new variants being found here. If they impact us like they have in the UK we may be due for another surge of cases. I suspect if they start finding the variants more frequently here in the next week or so they may extend closures. I wish they would close/keep closed everything else and open schools but I feel like the Ford govt only cares about, like, Costco.

They just broke on CBC news that Ottawa schools are going back on Monday. I’m elated and terrified. It feels like September again, like what the fuck am I sending us into but also desperately need them to go.

I'm glad to hear they are opening up (even though it is terrifying) but the last minute news I find so stressful. Is it impossible for them to just give a bit more notice to folks? All these families and educators just jerked one way and then another with so little time to prepare.
