Of course my salesman at the furniture store if off today. He has a partner that I spoke with that is supposed to be checking on it. He did not sound thrilled when I spoke with him. 🙄

The pedi called me and is prescribing H steroids for croup. I called daycare and asked if anyone else was sick. The receptionist said not that she was aware of but she’d speak to the director, who was in a meeting at that time. Well, H doesn’t go anywhere other than daycare, so he had to have picked it up there. 🤷🏼♀️ Are they making you keep him home or is he good to go to daycare? I kept him home today, but I’m waiting to hear back from daycare. Usually they’re not contagious anymore once the fever is gone, but he never had a fever. The pedi said 3 days, as long as he wasn’t getting any worse. We’ll see what the director says.

Hey. It cooled way off this week and it’s a nice reprieve from the heat and humidity. This morning we were outside playing and the temp was 65! We are going to a friend’s after lunch to hang out and maybe walk to the park. kim22 I’ve heard of batch testing, but I believe they don’t report the positive until everyone has been retested. I personally keep track of the trends over the span of a week, and right now it’s increasing in my county and the adjacent one. It’s a good reminder to keep socially distancing and wearing masks. Re: reporting Covid deaths: from what I understand if you are positive for covid it is listed on the death certificate as a contributing factor. In the motorcycle accident I would think the cause of death would be bleeding out or whatever, but Covid and whatever other health issues the person has going on would also be listed.

Just FYI- the getting a positive result after waiting in a long line and leaving before actually getting tested is a conspiracy theory. My coworker told it to me week before last and then that same weekend a bunch of people on GD all over the country said it’s floating on Social media and it’s always heard from a friend of a friend’s brother/ aunt/ whoever. I hate that things like that make it hard to know what’s true and what’s false. I do think there may be some crazy shit happening with numbers. For me in my area- I’m looking at hospitalization. Our hospitals have high numbers of positive cases now and Low ICU bed availability. That worries me more than how many new cases. I think other people have said the weekly averages are another indicator they rather go by than daily counts. ETA: Now in kim22 ‘s case. That is crazy! Testing as a whole with 10 other people? That is just BS and sounds unethical. Yea I'm seeing this shared by people all over the country. I'm calling bull on it. I think its made up to scare people away from testing. Same, my SIL kept spouting this story over and over when she was visiting. And I am like “hold up, do you actually KNOW someone this has happened to or are you just telling a story you ‘heard’?”. She overheard someone at a restaurant.... I am not counting that as a reliable source.

trtlcrzy what would be the reason I would be given for being retested though? Wouldn’t they have to tell me there was a positive in order to get me to come back? I’m not against the idea of it in an emergency situation but I am against not being told it would be done this way.

Since your group was negative then you don’t need to. If they gave you paperwork (which I assume they did, They’ve given me stuff every time I’ve been tested) I’m sure it was in there. It does kind of suck that they didn’t let you know up front so that you knew ahead of time that it was a possibility.

But how many others aren't caught, or the family just says, "to heck with it".

Pooled testing is necessary since we are still unprepared on how to handle mass testing and we are running out of supplies. In theory the turn around should be much shorter so wouldn't be as big of a deal as waiting another week or so, but rather another day. Each state is doing thing their own way and since the data isn't sent to the CDC, it seems to be a black box and not particularly reliable. I think later on looking back, and analyzing excess deaths year over year will give a full scope of the impact of COVID. Either by the number of people that died directly from the virus, pneumonia caused by covid, delayed care for other issues, dying at home, etc. Regardless, it all sucks.

And instances like this just discredit all the reporting and have everyone in denial. Oh for sure. Like I said, it was huge news down here. But it's one reason why I take a lot of the 'reporting' about this with a healthy dose of skepticism. I do think it will all eventually come out in the wash, but in the interim it's hard to judge.

Like I wouldn’t think they just send out a group of positive results based on pooled testing. That is the part that seemed way off.

Y’all. Today may be the day I run away from home. One of my kids—or their friend, not sure—found a giant bag of bean-bag refill in the garage and decided to jump on it.
🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I’ll be out there cleaning up til probably 2021, if anyone needs me.

Didn’t they find that covid can be contagious postmortem too? That may be why it’s noted. I’m not sure. I look at hospitalizations mostly but do get alarmed at some spikes. We have really good contact tracing so the spikes have always corresponded with something.

Hi. Today is flying by. I’m trying to go through closets and toys clear out some stuff while the kids are gone. I’m losing steam already. I think I need some coffee.

That's such a bummer yummeecookee. So sad for all the brides out there. I was thinking about that today, actually...even if you got engaged *today* it would still be pretty tough to plan a big event not knowing what the future holds.

That sucks yummeecookee. I remember how exciting it was to plan a huge party with all our friends and family. To have that all up in the air indefinitely would be crushing. I will say, my nephew who got married when KS was open to events of 30, had a great little party. It was just the wedding party (not even their significant others) and immediate family. It was beautiful and intimate. Plus saved a lot of money.

For those whose kids have gone to the eye doctor, is it any different than when we go? Evie's eye pressures are the biggest concern, which they said had to be checked with a slit lamp, which is just the fancy term for the thing we all look through and read the lines, then they flip all the different things and ask if 1 or 2 looks better and you can't really see any difference. I'm just wondering if she will have to have her eyes dilated so I can warn her about that, and convince her there is nothing that hurts.
We have to do this every 3-6 months, depending on blood work, so she will get used to them, but with it being the first visit, I know she's nervous.

Hi! It’s my Friday! Tonight’s adventure will be trying to catch my cat that doesn’t like to be touched and get her in a carrier because I’m dropping her off to get spayed tomorrow.
Then this week I have my days off crammed full with “to do’s” around the house and errands to run. MH rented an excavator to do some dirt work in the backyard tomorrow. He is leveling off an area to move our pool to among other things.
