I got my office wall painted today. I super love it. The opposite wall will have an orange couch. (The floor and baseboards are being replaced, so it was ok to get paint on them).

If I have a bunch of drumsticks that I want to cook and turn into chicken tortilla soup, what is the best way to do that? Boil them in the broth then take the meat off the bones and throw the meat back in? Bake the drumsticks then add to the soup? Help me, I'm not a good cook.

I'd skin them, use a slow cooker to bake them with salsa and taco seasoning.
Remove and shred.
Then either use the salsa in the slow cooker as your base for the soup.

I can never decide which method is easier. You will get a more flavorful broth with option 1, but a cleaner soup with option 2.

I usually use drumsticks to make chicken soup and just cook them on low (below boiling) for a few hours. I cook in water with salt, veggies, and a little splash of vinegar (I think that’s supposed to help get the flavor out of the bones or something*). Then I strain the broth out and shred the chicken and add it back in. *this seems like the kind of thing mapleme would know. Or ovenrack. Or grumpycakes

I ended up cooking them in the instapot and then adding it to the broth. I always forget I have an instapot!

Or grumpycakes The acidity helps break down the collagen in the bones to speed the gelatin formation in the soup. So it's richer tasting. And vinegar is tasty.

Hey, milano, do we know when Leonard's birthday is, or should I just put a hat on him for Christmas?

I rolled my ankle right after I got home from the gym. It hurts so bad. I’m already on so many painkillers and nsaids and nerve pain pills for my neck that you wouldn’t think I could even feel a stupid sprained ankle. Ugh. And mh is oot so I’m on my own with the kids. This. Sucks.

I’m sooo happy. Walmart will now do grocery delivery to our address. 🤗 I’ve been so sad that we haven’t been able to get groceries delivered during the pandemic; this has made my day.

I tweaked something in my upper back by my shoulder blade a few days ago and took some advil and had J massage the spot and it felt better the next day. Then yesterday we rented a van and took the furniture home from my office and even though I didn't lift anything heavy, last night it was owwwww again. And of course I had to sleep in a different position last night to keep my shoulder from hurting and now my hip and my lower back hurt, too. I feel so old. Nursing my shoulder with a heat pack and advil today.

Well, today is a weird day of ups and downs. It's our 10th wedding anniversary. We were planning a quiet day of resting for our trip to visit friends tomorrow. Then hubby got word that his grandfather passed away. He did not take it well. It's sad, but at the same time we were half expecting it since his grandmother passed 9 months ago. Now he won't have to live without her any more

After talking with our realtor today and getting (finally) some septic information, we have decided to put our house on the market next month. So within about a week's worth of time, we will be listing our current house, closing on our new house, and getting a puppy. I'm sure this will all be fine! A couple weeks before Christmas, might I add LOL. So if I am not on here much over the next few weeks, it is because I am spiraling around my house/yard like a tornado getting stuff accomplished.

Happy anniversary @ mthibodeau929!
Sorry about your husband’s grandfather. It seems like lots of people I know have had losses this last week. It’s so hard especially in these times.

R has wanted her ears pierced for a while now, and is finally confident enough to go through with it. But we're so close to the holidays now, that I can't decide if we should just take her randomly, or make it a Christmas gift.

rugger I am in full-on “everything they need this month has to be a Christmas gift” mode. Oh you need new socks? Christmas is coming! I’m turning into my mother. 🤣

Dramaphile I forget where you posted about it. How was the vaccine (or placebo)? Have you had any side effects? Thank you for contributing to science 🙌🏻.

My mom called her parents Mother and Father.
My kids still call us Mama and Dada. When do “mom and dad” or “mommy and daddy” start?
I would prefer Mama “mah muh” more than “muh muh.”

Got my vaccine (or placebo) yesterday and so far no real side effects! The spot where I got my injection is a teeny bit tender but other than that I feel about the same as yesterday. I don't usually have side effects from vaccines, so I don't know if that means anything really.
They set me up with an app and a thermometer and pulse ox, and I'm supposed to do a twice a week diary entry with my stats and a questionnaire about if I have any covid related symptoms. Then if I do get symptoms they gave me a test kit to take samples that they'll pick up. I have a 28 day checkup where they'll take blood etc, and then a couple of phone check ins after that, and then a one year visit. They said if I have the placebo, at some point when vaccines are widely available there will be a plan to get placebo volunteers vaccinated.
The vaccine I got is the J&J/Janssen one. Hopefully it works out because it's one injection instead of two like the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

I would prefer Mama “mah muh” more than “muh muh.” It starts but...I dont believe M refers to us as mama or mommy with her friends, she says "my mom" (not sure how or if she distinguishes). But directly to us is still mama and mommy...I told her she's welcome to say mom if she wants. Do you model dad/daddy? I feel like if you say dada in reference to him thats just how it will go.

I would prefer Mama “mah muh” more than “muh muh.” Nugget (almost 5 OMG) goes back and forth. Sometimes Mama or mommy, occasionally Mom. Depends on her mood. I'm always Mama when she wants snuggles. She went through a Phase when she was 3 I think where she called me Mom more often, but now uses it less. She calls J Daddy pretty exclusively. C (2) is still squarely in Mama/Dada camp, but does say Daddy sometimes. I think it's just a cultural/generational thing. My grandma called her parents Mother and Daddy. It's like how now so many grandparents have names like Mom-mom and pop-pop and Nana and Gigi instead of Grandma and Grandpa (although funny enough both my mom and J's step mom are Grandma to my kids)

I mean I often bust out the "where is your MOTHER?" when I'm done with the day and BM isn't home yet.
They also have started calling her by her maiden name...just that. Cuz I do it sometimes. And its hilarious.
