Monday (Holiday Weekend Hangover)

I stayed in bed way later than I should have this morning, but I'm still in my pjs.

This week starts my 60% of time in the office schedule. I will WFH Monday and Friday, in the office Tues/Wed/Thur. I'm kind of looking forward to some kind of normalcy by getting up daily and showering, doing hair/makeup, but will also miss just sitting in my pjs until I'm ready. Evie is so excited about spending 2 days with my dad and step mom (they have a pool).

H somehow managed to go through pretty much all the fireworks he bought. I think he kept 1 back of 6 different big fireworks, to shoot off on NYE, but otherwise, he cleaned out the downstairs room. We had probably 20 people here, so it wasn't too crazy. Evie wanted to do some last night, but being in the heat for 3 days, I was pretty fireworked out, so we told her no.

Morning! MH is off today which is nice. We were going to go to a small beach but we are waiting for my sister's COVID test to come back. We saw her Saturday and yesterday she woke up with symptoms so we are just trying to be as mindful as possible even though we wouldn't have gone anywhere we would really be around others.

I'm at the office with Cadence. She isn't really letting me work at all. Oh well. You pay me half I'm gonna do everything half-assed anyway.

Cadence woke up at 3, thus I've been up since 3. She won't stop talking when she comes to my bed. So then I went to her room, but her bed is way too soft for me. So I ended up on the couch by 4:30. I get woken up by my alarm, that is still in my room. Go in there and she is star-fished in my bed with Dickens. Not cool kid. Not cool.

I'm wondering if I should stop with the melatonin though, I think it's screwing with her sleep pattern. So it's helping her fall asleep, but not stay asleep. Any other melatonin users have this issue?

So I'm here, rocking an insane headache, and my gut is pissed about all the July 4th crap I ate....mostly the bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers that I ate quite a few of. Uuuuugh.

Perhaps. She seems to sleep fine at my mom's without it at all, but she also has a later bedtime there. Maybe I should just let her be off of it for the rest of "summer" and then pick back up as school gets closer.

DH and I are hanging some more stuff around the house; currently he's working on a mirror and I'm 'supervising'

The kids and I head to Maine tomorrow; laundry is done and they are packed, so I just have myself left. I have learned to scale way back on the packing over the years, we mostly hang out at the lake (esp. this year) so I think we can do carry-ons only.

I might try to run out to Dillards to get a pair of shoes for the trip, I want a casual slip-on or something along those lines.

Thanks! She tested about 24 hours ago and they said most are coming back within 72 hours but may take longer due to recent spikes in cases.

wineallthetime, was it a rapid test? I heard those are all coming back with false negatives and to make sure you take a real one (the swab all the way up the nose or down the throat). I guess the rapid tests are just mouth/cheek swabs. That's the info from TX anyway. It could be different in other states.

Morning. It’s supposed to rain off and on all day so we will just hang out in the house. The big girls are getting along and playing nice, mostly. My friend said she was going to stop by at some point today. My house is a big mess but I’m not going to worry about picking up.

I hope the test comes back negative wineallthetime. The hospital told me my test would take 48 hours to come back and it only took 24ish, so hopefully the hospital is overestimating for her too.

DD has the worst giant knot in her hair that I have been working on for days. There is one part I’m definitely going to need to cut. I wish I could take her to someone to take care of it but since salons just opened last week, no one is going to have an hours long appointment for this. T is crying about his very simple summer math work so it’s been a great morning here.

You might be surprised. When ours opened my mom called to book and got a same day cut and color because people were hesitant.

I just loaded all my paperwork up for tomorrow morning. Our table looks so weird without all my shit on it.

A band of children just descended on my house long enough to look at dinosaur ‘fossils’ and grab ice pops before heading out. Pretty sure my two were in there but not 100% certain, lol.

It’s funny, so the next door neighbors have a 3rd grade boy and kindergarten twin boys. Other neighbor has two older girls and a 2nd grade boy. Then B. C is the group’s little mascot, I guess. I know they won’t always want her tagging along but so far they are patient with her.

Took a 2 hour nap after lunch. I really needed that. It can't happen every day though because then the day feels wasted. Not that I had anything planned.

My unemployment application was approved, so that's nice. Eases some concerns for awhile.

How long are you staying in Maine? I know they have a list of states that require a 14 day quarantine upon arrival. They had RI and Mass on it and our Governors were really pissed since we have less cases per capita than they do. It made me wonder how strict they were with enforcement.

Today flew by but I got a lot of work done. C had a good day at camp today. They switched groups from last week after they figured out the kids who were picking on one another.

Tonight we are going over our new rewards chart. He has been watching some show where they get an allowance so he will earn points through the week and spin it as allowance at the end. We are also going to bring him to set up a bank account and he will have to put half in there. He keeps asking to be treated like a grown up so we are spinning all this as these are the things you do as you get older.

His latest obsession is wanting to learn the electric guitar. He’s been on and off that one for a while. I found a studio local that can do a free private lesson and a few others with us using their guitar so we may try that and see if the interest stays. I don’t want to spend money on a fleeting interest.

wedding that's how I feel like the violin and Cadence. The school we chose starts off with box violins and then we can rent real ones if the interest sticks.
