tinydancer - a similar thing happened when I was pregnant with dd2. It was much earlier than I wanted to tell anyone, we hadn't had an appt yet, but my H's parents came to visit from MN, so we told them right when they arrived. How are you feeling? Your appt must be coming up soon? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk My appointment is on the 24th. Feels so far away! I've been feeling pretty good. It's harder the second time around though. I've been having waves of nausea (which I didn't have at all last time) and I'm just tired. I've been travelling a lot for work too, which hasn't helped. I actually slept through my alarm last week and was about an hour late for a work meeting! My boss was with our client asking security to call my hotel room because they were worried about me. It was SO embarrassing.

I've been feeling like my decision to stay here and not move to the US has been confirmed lately. 2 people very close to me in the States have been fired in the last 2 weeks for reasons that were pretty superficial. Germany has great employee protection laws, which of course has some pay-off in terms of companies being slower to hire. I think I would constantly be so anxious if we lived in the US, though. Afraid that one of us could lose our job at any moment with no warning and then at the same time lose health insurance and possibly our home if we didn't find something else soon enough. Thinking about the situations of these 2 people has been making it hard for me to sleep. Luckily 1 is not in danger of losing his home (together with his wife and 1-yr-old son), but I had to help the other person out to make her rent for July and can only hope unemployment is enough to pay her August rent.

My summer camp is over and I'm spending the afternoon playing with my new Instant Pot. I'm super excited about it but also a little bit afraid of it.

crimsonandclover that is pretty scary. Other side of the coin I would love to have more than 1of3 employees that wanted to show up for work and actually work on a regular basis. Another one quit today. Albeit he had life reasons(ish) and not a lack of enjoyment in his job. I am so done with the US labor force.

It got super hot here again today. H and I made an executive decision to not add heat to the house by cooking, so I went and picked up dinner. Now he's bathing the kids and I'm trying to convince myself to get up and put everything away.

nellieoleson YAY YAY YAY! Awesome news lady. I think an ice cream party sounds like a good way to celebrate 😀 I went to target and bought tampons etc for the first time in two years! I swear I forgot what kind I buy. Lol. Going off birth control after our trip. Speaking of trip, we are traveling to Yellowstone soon! Accepting any advice for that area and/or traveling and packing for long trips with kiddos!

In random news, I cried for the second time since having dd last night. First time was out of frustration with dogs taking dog and baby out in really cold weather. Last night it was because we got a new a/c system and I couldn't sleep... light on display was bright and it was loud. It was so weird that I cried over it!!! Good times.

Our paint night was a success! We made a huge pot of spaghetti and had cake and ice cream and all the booze and painted our pictures and the my BFF and I went to bed and my sister and her directs stayed up so late that they decided to go home at about 6:30 this morning, and they hadn't been to bed yet.
We had coffee and cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and we're currently watching a documentary about a cult.

dizzycooks sorry about the hives! I hope you figure out the culprit and they do away soon! I've never been to Yellowstone @kelltothekell but it sounds so fun! Can't wait to hear all about it. Hope the wine helped kcrkcs. And that things slow down for you soon. Glad you had a great paint night lollipop!

Happy weekend ladies!
DD has been having some rough nights lately about 3-4am. Thinking it's teething?? But not sure. What I do know is that when I go in to help her she literally turns into a monster and screams and flails and I have no idea why. So frustrating.
I'm taking the kids to a library today for an event which should be fun. Then this afternoon I am donating a ton of baby/pregnancy stuff to a home that helps teen moms. Baby season is officially over around here. 😪

scorpioscuba, maybe it's night terrors? K had them, though earlier in the night (about an hour after she went to sleep) and there was really nothing we could do to snap her out of them. We just had to hold her and try to comfort her and wait it out. I have read that if they happen at predictable times, you can wake them just prior to that (just barely rouse them) and then let them go back to sleep and they won't have one. Waking a sleeping baby is always danger-zone in my book, though. K's lasted about a week and then stopped.

nellieoleson, what huge, huge relief! I'm so happy for you guys. And the doctors said that what she has is really easy to treat, right? dizzycooks, yikes to the hives! Have you figured out what's causing them yet? lollipop, I'm glad your painting night went so well Yesterday I worked from 6:30am - 8:30 pm, and today from 9 am - 5pm teaching an intensive English class. I'm pooped. It went well, but yeah. Time for wine and bed.

dizzycooks I'm with you. But my sister is a worse insomniac than I am, and she's off work due to an injury so she can just sleep all day if she wants. We took the kids to my mom's company BBQ. We didn't stay the whole time, which was weird, because usually she's my ride so we get there early and leave last. Took H and the kids home, put M down for a nap, then I packed up and headed out to my friend's house for a luau party. I'll probably get home at 10:30 or 11.

It was *only* 81 when DD and I got up this morning so we took the dog for a walk. It was super humid though since its monsoon season. Drinking coffee while DD and DS cuddle in the couch. No big plans today. DS and H are headed off on a camping trip tomorrow so they will be getting ready for that.

The DDs and I have colds. In July. Wut?
DD1 rode her bike with no assistance (training wheels or us holding) today. She was *so* proud of herself. She's already almost 6.5, but she has never been very good with wheeled objects. DD2 (4.5, our Feb kid) is totally ready, but I have kept her on a balance bike because it would destroy DD1 if her little sister learned to ride a bike first. As soon as DD1 doesn't need any help, then it's DD2's turn.

I'm trying to rename my (new, barely started) blog. I want to buy a domain to get rid of the blogspot address, and the current name has MY name in it, which I don't like. It's a blog about books for middle grade teachers, with notes about curriculum connections and how I'd use the book in class, what kids will like about it, what topics to be prepared to discuss, etc. It's a silly hobby but I want it to look and sound nice. Anyway, the following domains are available: teacherbooknerd.com theteachersshelf.com mrs.(my name)sbookshelf.com bookreviewsforteachers.com (H thinks this is boring, but it's what I would google, so...) ivegotabookforyou.com (BC this is what I say pretty often to other teachers and my students) H is no help because he likes the original name, which I don't. I feel like I don't want my name in the title. I like the anonymity. Creative people, help me out! ETA tag to get dizzycooks in here.
