It's Monday and the stupid at work is already challenging to deal with.
How does everyone feel about the new name? I'm meh about it. I don't really get it. But it's not changing so I guess I shouldn't be bitching.

I'm here! My summer class started today. It's super easy, and my main challenge is finding enough to fill the time. It's only half day, and I'll be honest and say I enjoy the break from my house, plus earning a little bit of extra money. I won't be heartbroken if next week's class doesn't fill, though.
My brother is giving his cat to his ex-wife today. Long story, but he kept the cat when they split and had her for many years. Now, though she needs more care than he can give and his ex has agreed to take her on. Anyway, he's very sad about it and I'm probably heading over to his house later to hang with him.

She does and prefers them on. We started both kids at a few months and there was a bit of an adjustment but it has worked for us. We use mini squids sun glasses and puffin gear hats.

Is anyone planning to look for stuff during prime day? I just got prime so I could do it this year, but I'm afraid it will either be a let down or I'll but a bunch of stuff I don't need.

I've been looking at what deals will be out there. I may get some early Christmas presents. Some good Nerf and Lego stuff will be on sale: www.thriftyandthriving.com/best-deals-at-amazon/ETA - ack! nevermind that was the wrong link and just shows current deals for today. There are other blogs out there with Amazon Prime day deals. I've been going out to the Amazon Prime day site and "watching" the items I'm interested in. If you download the app, it will then notify you when your deal is coming up.

Hi! Our second week of pony camp starts tomorrow. And it's hopping around here but I am getting into the swing of summer and despite being exhausted at in a much better frame of mind about it all. Also bring on the work because the coffers are getting low.

Howdy! I have been MIA because I can only get to this site on my phone and the service at my job sucks so hard that I can't access during work hours. Also, I don't stop moving between 5-10 pm usually:/ But I do miss y'all! valiente - love those chunky thighs! tinydancer - I completely forgot that you had a hallway baby!! Omg!! I bought a memory foam pad last prime day but DH and I didn't like it. But it's blue and we use it to play ocean or moon trip with the kids Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have also been sick since last Thursday with headaches, dizziness and nausea. I finally got in to see my primary care doctor today. She said it's probably a virus but ordered some blood work to check for other things. Of course DH is traveling for work tomorrow night and I feel like crap at least he's only gone one night. I am still raging a bit over my clients complaint about my kid at the show. Only the part where it's unprofessional and prevented me from doing my job. First of all while I understand in some settings have your child with you would be abnormal or potentially unprofessional this isn't one of them. The industry is very family oriented. All of the other pros I know that have children have them with them 100% of the time. Especially because it usually involves extended travel. I checked with my friend that was the head of a equine studies program at a well respected university and she had her kid with her 24:7 including while working. 2) my child does not distract me from doing my job and if she is I ask for help so that I am. It distracted. Certainly the rub is if I ask for help and the person says yes and didn't want to. I totally get that. But telling me I have no business having my child present even if it is being cared for I just can't let go. I don't know if I need to address this further with them or if I just need to do me and bring my kid and a babysitter. I don't want to argue with them. But I refuse to have my life dictated by someone else when it is no longer their business. Am I being unreasonable? Please tell me. Becasue I don't want to be an asshat either

kcrkcs, as someone who spent many years as a client in the horse industry, I'm guessing that here you've got a misalignment of expectations and past/present service on both ends. In the past when you were kidless, you were able to devote pretty much your entire time at shows doing extra things for your clients that they probably never really appreciated and weren't paying for. What do they pay for? They pay for shipping (which I assume you still do), they pay for their stall (which you organize but other than that it's not your business), they pay for hay/grain (which you probably also order/organize), they pay for their classes (which you likely watch and comment on afterwards even though you're not getting money for it), and they probably pay for schooling (which you still do). Except for the schooling and watching classes, your DD can't really be a distraction for any of it. And even when watching classes, having a 1.5 year old on your hip while you watch a 2-minute round is not likely to be a huge distraction, and I'm kind of assuming you don't have her in the schooling ring with you while you school your riders. So those are the things that are necessary for you to do, and the things that your clients have a right to expect from you without the distraction of your DD. But beyond that, it is none of their business if you choose to go back to the hotel with her and hang out between every single one of their classes, showing up just in time to school them and send them into the ring. That would be well within your rights. I'm assuming, though, that they got used to more supervision from you in the pre-baby years, and now they feel put-out that they're not getting it anymore. I don't know how to fix the problem other than to lay out to them that you understand they got used to a certain level of service that you provided free of charge, but for the next couple of years you will absolutely continue to provide the services they pay for without distractions. They have no right to request that you supervise them mucking out stalls or collecting ribbons or finding the concession stand or watching competitors' rounds or visiting the tack shop without your DD, though. All of that obviously just my opinion.

Dd2 is getting her canines in and it is horrible teething drama. Every night this week she has either been up for the day at 5:15-ish, or been awake and unable to sleep motn for an hour+. Or both. 😭 I'm so tired, and it's making me an impatient, grumpy, no fun mommy. And then I feel guilty. Ugh. Anyway. I hope you are feeling better today theoprah - that sounds miserable. kcrkcs - sorry you are dealing with client drama. It seems like crimsonandclover has a really good perspective on the situation. It sounds like a totally normal thing to have your child with you in that industry, but maybe for the next couple years bring a baby sitter? I'm sure even by the time L is 3 she is going to be a lot less trouble for people to watch. 18 months is not an easy age, so maybe that's part of the issue too. Can you find someone on care.com who you can hire in the town you will be staying in to come for a few crucial hours each day? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

crimsonandclover thank you. I think you pretty much hit all the nails squarely on the head. Including the ones where I pretty much got myself into this position by doing too much beyond what my stated services are 😬. I appreciate your input!!!

valiente love that pic! Anyone else's LO getting kind of bossy?! I feel like I'm seeing hints of terrible twos already. She will slap her hand on the floor and yell mama mama mama because she HAS to have me sit right next to her. Things like that. Happy amazon prime day ha. Not sure if I'll get anything or not.

@kelltothekell, not bossy yet, but she's figured out how to say "no" and she uses it ALL the time.

@kelltothekell , I wouldn't say she's bossy, per se, but she can be very demanding and she hits or bites when she's pissed off. We're working on it.
I've been assuming that Tapatalk was still down, which is why no one was posting on last week's thread. And then I realized it was a new week. I'm tired lol.

I'm afraid to look at my Amazon orders. But I have ordered some Christmas presents and things we needed (or I wanted) that were super cheap! I'm trying to be very practical.

After 2 bananas, 4 carrots, half a cucumber, 1/2 pint of cherry tomatoes, 5 slices of bread, peanut butter, hummus, 4 cheese sticks and several large handfuls of puff corn my kids are finally full from lunch. There are wildfires all over BC right now. I live in Alberta, but I'm still being affected by the smoke. I think it might be getting to S too.
