This picture means a lot to me...it’s S walking down the trail, on her own, at a local tourist spot we visited with my family. It’s a rare shot of her doing something like this on her own. What you don’t see...is the jogging stroller that I pushed down a rough trail for a mile. Then when it wouldn’t go any further due to rough terrain, I left it and had her walk and carried her. It was the most exhausting day! But this moment. This was a special moment. A moment of “normalcy”. A moment of freedom for her. So often she doesn’t get that freedom because she is so unstable on her feet. She doesn’t understand danger and unsafe things.  |
