flippinchica TBH I probably wouldn't be annoyed. It happens. I agree with RunsforWineandCarbs and would provide repellent, but I probably would only say something the next time they watch him. I would have just been happy to have had the time away, and if he was happy, that's good enough for me. I can only imagine the amount of bug bites M will get when we head camping in a few weeks.

I am going to have to write an apology note to my son's future wife. He is absolutely pathetic when he is sick. Like the worst case of man cold (though I know he has more than a cold).

Thanks for the input. Now I'm trying to put away maternity clothes and find space in my closet. Plus all the post vacay laundry

24 hours my ass. Hi. Did you miss me? Little frustrating that we had to change the name right before the weekend. Maybe next time the board decides to break off for a 3rd time we could plan that a little better.

Well let's see. What has happened the last 4.5 days while we waited for tapatalk.
S1 had his last swim class. Sadly he didn't pass which was surprising because a little boy who swam worse than him did pass. Oh well.
We surprised s1 and he got to meet curious George. He was stoked. Well super nervous at first but then once George came to him he freaked out.
Then we were to my inlaws. E got sick and threw up all over me. No change of clothes. Luckily mil and I are similar in size. Yesterday he slept most of the day. Better today.
S1 is repeating level 1 for swimming with my inlaws. He's spending the week there will come for the weekend for E's birthday then go back for another week. The house seems weird

What do you think is a fair "wage" for a 7 year old, who has the following chores: - make bed - load & unload dishwasher - put toys away - clean room - fold clothes (towels, socks and underwear) - clean counters - wipe off table after each meal
He gets sat & sun off...wdyt?

RunsforWineandCarbs no advice on the sleep front. We are dealing with this with my 5 yr old. He says he's heard voices. It's getting better, slowly. Sometimes a sound machine helps us.

I'm thinking 5. So a buck per day but it depends a bit on the family situation and if he uses that money for snacks and suck or just toys/fun money.

Oh. Another thing, we did the final appeal for insurance to pay for OT. Hopefully we hear soon. H's employer also assigned us a "advocate" to "help" this happened when we sent emails asking for clarification. Haven't heard from them. Big surprise right?

I think the amount is totally up to you. Some things to consider would be negotiating when this will go up. How much will you pay the other two as they age? I would also consider setting up an arrangement on how the money is used (attempt to set up good money management later on). I've heard people breaking it down into percentages, certain % to savings, some for charity and then some to spend however they chose. Honestly I wish I have been more strict with DS1 when he started working. I also never paid DS1 for doing chores. The theory being that these are all important aspects of being in a family and didn't want to get caught up in having to pay him to do the things he needed to do in the family (just another way to view it, total personal preference) ETA - I have a friend who taxed her kids allowance, and then used the 'tax money' for fun extras for the family (outings, movies etc.)

He wants to earn money to spend on souvenirs when we go to Disney (which I totally get). He already does over half of the list and we don't pay him, but now that he wants to save some money I'm trying to add a few more jobs to it and attach a proper dollar amount so he can get something for himself when we go.... DH said he has a few ideas too so we need to figure out a plan tonight!

jess213, is the trip soon? 1. do you know what he wants to buy? price range? 2. is this something that you might buy for him if he didn't have his own money? 3. how many weeks until vacation? 4. will you continue to pay chore money after vacation? Reasons why I ask. 1. you can figure out how much he needs to earn. 2. would you buy it for him so he can spend his own money on something else? so would you pay for a big item or a few smaller items? again - goes to how much he needs to earn. 3. take what he needs to earn divide by weeks to earn = how much to pay him 4. if you continue, you can let him know that he is making a little bit more now, so he has more to spend on vacation, but after vacation it is going to x amount. BUT i was going to suggest $10/week. Because i'm a sucker.

Hi. I got 3 shots yesterday, Hep A in one arm, Hep B in the other, and MMR in my ass. I have a low-grade fever and feel foggy. Not much planned today, I have to call the diagnostic lab to see what to do about them running the wrong blood test on me. Also need to study, laundry, get dinner in the crockpot.

Going to post some pictures now that Tapa is working. Poor DS. Doesn't seem like his fever is going back up since his dose of ibuprofen around 715 this morning. Hopefully napping will help him.

@jess223, I was going to chime in with a different idea. I would have him conintue to do the things he already does (that he doesn't get paid for) for many of the same reasons red and blue mentioned. I would then come up with a lot of additional chores and identify a dollar value to those. Obviously the more time consuming the higher the dollar amount. So if he completes all the additional chores, he may earn $10 (or whatever). The more he works then the more money he can earn.
I'm pretty sure I heard this on Pinterest.
