Hi guys. It's been another long day. My poison ivy doesn't bother me for hours, then I suddenly am so itchy that I feel like I'm losing my mind. I applied rubbing alcohol in hopes that it'll dry things up quickly, though results seem mixed. Then we had a release over the weekend and of all people to find a big issue, this one highly visible (and constantly complaining) client found it and insisted we fix it TODAY. By dumb luck, we may technically fix it before midnight, but we'll see. I'm just over it all.

I caught Colin watching ESPN this morning while they were covering the protests (since so many athletes got involved). DH wanted to wait for him to ask questions but I always hear that you have to tackle racial issues head-on, or kids pick up that it's taboo. So I had a chat with Colin before bed - may as well get used to these talks while he's too young to realize how awkward I am, right? He's learned about MLK Jr. in school but he didn't realize racism is still alive and well. His bed friend is half Mexican and pretty dark skinned, so he's pretty upset to think that some people will judge and treat M differently based on his skin color. It seemed like he'd be on the verge of zoning out then suddenly he'd come up with a question or comment that kept the conversation going. He's definitely picking up on things that he wasn't talking about. So yeah, I'm just glad to have started what will hopefully be an open conversation for a long time to come.

Daycare sent a preliminary note saying they will be reopening for July but no details yet on what that means. I want Chase to go back eventually but I think it might need to wait for the fall once they have gotten their "new normal" set in stone.

As of July 1st, staff goes down to 50%. They said we could get another part time job and they would work with our schedules, we could find a new full time job entirely, or we could just keep working for them and hope for an upturn. That they don't know what August will bring. They are hoping they can say everyone can come back full time, but they just don't know.
So, I've started working on my resume and actively searching for a job. This really sucks, but I can't afford to just try and stick it out hoping for the best. You can't pay bills with hope.

I hope this will turn into a good thing for you long term, with a job you love and people who appreciate you. But I'm sorry for the uncertainty and hassel.

His mom. He's completely fucked if she divorces him. Like she'll own part of our farm and my grandparents house. She makes 4 times what he does.

The reason my dad and his mom divorced was because she cheated on him. And then her next husband cheated on her. I cant believe he would do this. Especially with how fragile sil is right now.

Today was HOT! It got to like 97. The kids had a ton of fun swimming at the lake and playing on the beach. It wasn’t too busy either, which was nice. It’s supposed to be hot again tomorrow so we may go back but they also say it might thunderstorm in the afternoon. I guess we will wait and see. A friend of ours’ 9 year old son is very, very rambunctious. I feel like the mom doesn’t call him out on stuff enough so he gets away with everything. H pulled my float out to play with and the next thing you know he and his friends have taken it away from her and actually broke it because they were so rough. When I asked him nicely to bring it back he did so, which I appreciated. It’s hard though when he’s being so rough around the little kids.

I have a friend with a son like that. Like she's never seen our new house because I go to hers so he doesn't break our stuff...
