DH and I just realized that we should actually get C something for her birthday. As the second child, she has plenty of everything and I really don't want more random stuff cluttering the house. But the ILs give us money to buy gifts from them to the girls every year, so we need to actually get her something. We'll likely get her some clothes and books, but what else would my one year old enjoy that won't take up tons of space?

We took E to the aquarium for his first birthday. He loved it and we didn't have to find room for any more random toys.

A cute new diaper. Or two. And clothes or shoes or outdoor digging toys (sand castle stuff or garden tools)

I got M a moon in my room. I really wanted one in my room, but decided hers would suffice.
But it is decor (nightlight?), which may feel unnecessary to you. In which case, I vote diaper or even wrap up some old (not-seen?) toys or clothes.

A trip to visit her friends to the south?
Otherwise books or some outdoor toys they can share.

Nugget got a magna-doodle for her birthday and was really into it for a while. I should probably dig it back out of the toy box, pretty sure she forgot it exists. Another option would be a bubble machine. Nugget is crazy for bubbles and I get tired of trying to fight her off from holding the bubble bottle herself (ie spilling it everywhere). I really need to get one for our house.

I'm into experience gifts lately. For a 1 yo maybe that translates to a special outing without sister to a park or museum?

This is basically C. She likes to check things out. So she has been making her way slowly through every toy in the house. Next up she is studying their interactions with each other (lids + plastic eggs have been a recent point of fascination). Introducing a new toy almost seems like an intrusion.

Also, how is c almost 1 already? Up until recently I agreed. But just in the last few days her "oneness" has been coming out. She has so much more spunk and drive. She seems ready for impending toddlerhood.
