My parents have a sail boat. My dad can't even step foot on it anymore so I'm not sure why they haven't sold it. I'm pretty sure my mother just likes to say she has one.

M's writing assignment today is about a time she was scared. I swear to you we've been working on it for 2 hours now. She's crying, throwing things, erasing stuff, screaming....it's super fun over here. This will sound horrible but I am happy to read this. I have been feeling very isolated in terms of Cs reaction to distance learning. All of the other kids on the Zoom calls are paying attention and not doing swan dives off the couch. Anytime I seek assistance from his teacher she isn’t a real help and she then starts nitpicking him a bit. Anyway, I’m sorry you are in a similar behavior boat but hopefully you take solace in knowing you aren’t alone. Just because they are good in the zoom does not mean they are not being a pain to their parents. S is a frickin angel in the zoom meetings (we only have 1 - 20 minute zoom meeting per day) but most of the time gives me the biggest attitude at home. I had a similar incident to tgrimes on Tuesday with writing and I totally lost it on him and had to go sit outside for 5 minutes to calm down. The assignment in question? To write 4 ideas for what they were going to write about later in the week. wedding - you are 100% not alone. In all honesty, I don't know a single person who has not been complaining about their Kindergarten kid's attitude throughout this. And from what I've read, your school/teacher has ridiculously high expectations of 5/6 year olds. |

Also - what peachsmama said - I've adapted certain lessons to find his interest point. I mean - they are in Kindergarten. S is a very advanced reader and a few weeks ago, he was so tired of the reading lessons that he started freaking about them and saying he hated reading etc. I was worried about his attitude and it really effecting his reading over time. I love reading and want him to also. Now - pick a book and read it, if it makes you happy, I don't care if you are picking the sight words out or acting it out or whatever the lesson is. You're reading? cool. Right now, he picked a biography of Darth Vader that he's been reading for 20 minutes. I told him he could be done 10 minutes ago and he asked to keep reading. Great. |

jewels I also adapt lessons. Yesterday Cass was supposed to watch a 15 minute video of a woman reading a story then draw a picture about it and write a sentence. She's over this woman in the videos so I let her pick any Epic Books read-to-me she wanted and do the activity based on that. Shocker--she chose a horse book. On her drawing the horse leg was right in the person's crotch. For her sentence she wrote "Can you ride your human" instead of "can I ride your horse?" A+ kid. 😆😆

We have to take pics of M's work and send it to her teacher, so no adapting here. We're supposed to as well but I only send 1 picture a day usually. I'm not taking photos of every worksheet she does and the school email account sucks because if I try to attach more than 2 photos the file is too large to send. |

We have to take pics of M's work and send it to her teacher, so no adapting here. We do too. But our teacher is super flexible and as along as they are working, she's happy. I feel awful for those of you who's teachers/schools are not understanding how hard this is. Ours has basically said - here are the assignments. We know lots of you are working and/or have multiple kids to teach. Do your best. Make sure they read something and write something every day. Try to get as much done as possible. |

If we don’t do what’s asked the teacher sends it back for “review” to do it again basically. It kills me |
