More of the same....I have to start working Sun-Thurs on the 31st. I am not happy about that, but oh well. Threats, vandalism, and protests have gotten bad enough at work that we now have armed security guards at our offices and offices have been consolidated so the smaller ones have closed and moved into the larger ones. I'm mostly working from home, but will have to start going back in at least once a week soon. It's a bit unnerving.
We are looking to adopt a dog and have been approved at two rescues. Even still, it's been a lot harder than I thought. Pandemic dogs are a thing apparently.

Decided to spend the week at my mom’s house to get some additional help with L and give DH a bit of a mental health break. It’s been so nice to have a change of scenery and have L get to spend time with my mom.
Other than that, we are looking at possibly sending L back to daycare starting in June. It’ll really depend on how our state is doing now that things are starting to reopen. Keeping a close eye on all of that.

It’s our last week of school! It’s the most anti climatic end to a school year but I think we’re both ready for summer. We’re supposed to get the tentative plan for next year the end of this week and I’m very nervous how we are going to combine me going back to work teaching and DS most likely being home at least part of the week. We’re also going to our cabin this weekend which I’m looking forward to and we’re going to have a mini celebration for DD’s 2nd birthday. She’s going to be 2 next week! PennyCandy, that sounds super stressful. Why are they protesting? Good luck finding a dog!

I can't even think about all the possibilities for next fall and winter when it comes to school. We will have two in elementary and one in preschool. Om top of that, I think we may be losing our before and after care for the oldest two. I'm just trying to get through the next couple of weeks until it's officially summer and then we can start making contingency plans for next school year. We're hosting a little virtual graduation ceremony for DD on Saturday with family and her teachers. She'll sing some songs and read aloud a book, we'll show off some of her artwork, and she'll receive her diploma. I hope it's just what she needs to feel some closure on this school year and look forward to K. And there will be dessert, of course

Public health orders for "safer at home" and masks. That’s crazy. Wearing a mask is annoying but not a big deal at all. In my area, the vast majority of people are wearing masks when they’re inside a store.

Public health orders for "safer at home" and masks. That’s crazy. Wearing a mask is annoying but not a big deal at all. In my area, the vast majority of people are wearing masks when they’re inside a store. Mask wearing varies so much here. Over the last few weeks, we've noted the following: Local hardware store: No one, including customers and employees Lowes: No employees wearing masks, some customers Home Depot: All employees, most customers Mendards: All employees and customers (per company mandate) Grocery store on the NW side: less than 50% Grocery store on the NE side: Over 80% And I'd say mask use has actually decreased as the number of businesses reopening increases, but no protests that I've heard of. That's so wild and unproductive.

Masks aren't even a public health order in any of our counties (my agency is huge, covering three counties), but people are still pissed about it. We actually did a study to see if we should make it a public health order. 77% of people are wearing masks so we opted not to make it an official order to avoid further making me people angry. It seems to be a minority of people that don't agree, but as time goes on, I think it's only going to get worse. Hell, I'm losing my mind working from home and only going out for groceries.

Yeah, the whole uproar over masks is very discouraging to me. People have made it more about the importance of their personal rights rather than seeing it as a public health issue.
We have decided to hire a nanny for the summer. We cannot go on working from home and caring for them full-time. It has been very stressful since we both have demanding jobs.
I haven’t even begun to think about fall because it’s stressing me out.

I hope that lessens the burden on you two this summer without the potential stressors of a larger daycare setting. Everyone just has to find what works best for their situation.

H woke up from her nap with a fever. Yesterday she started with a rash. Looked like roseola to me. Our pediatricians office is not doing Saturday hours. The nurse suggested taking her to a pediatric urgent care clinic but it was an hour from our house. By then she only had the rash, no fever and was playing, drinking water etc. So I skipped it. But I'm like...how in the world did she get a virus?? We haven't left the house
