Our stay at home order is officially ending Monday! I’m actually surprised it’s happening, I thought for sure it would be extended again. Retail business are allowed to reopen and social gatherings of 10 or less. Bars, restaurants and hair salons will open June 1st. It’ll be interesting to see how things start to return to a new normal.

Do all your kids wear helmets on bikes, scooters, skates, ect? I'm surprised by how many kids in our neighborhood don't wear helmets at all. Yes; if they leave our yard they need a helmet on. They know to do it automatically and it's not even a question. If they're just putzing around the driveway on a scooter I'm not as strict. Same rules but I have to threaten to give their bikes away to get them to put them on.

Always wears a helmet. He has tried to sneak his scooter out before without but I catch him.

I follow Lindsay letters on IG and the thought of a kid getting a TBI is the worst case scenario. Her daughter fell off a slow golf cart. Yes! Follow her too. I lost my sense of smell when I fell off my bike with no helmet at 5. I imagine how much worse it could have been.

No leaving the patio without a helmet.

My kids aren’t great at Helmet wearing. I have been trying to push it more now that we are home a lot more. I need to put my foot down about it. They both have helmets, they just don’t always have them on.
I never wore a helmet growing up, but I know better now that I’m an adult and we live in a more populated area. I don’t see a lot of kids around here wearing one, but there are a few that regularly wear them.

I don’t remember wearing one consistently as a kid, either; we had helmets, but only wore them if we were biking to the other side of the neighborhood or up to the pool. But just on our street or close by, no. Here most kids seem to wear them, which is good.

It feels almost blasphemous around here, but ds only wears a helmet when cycling on the street, so not when we’re at a play area, park etc. It is a relatively new thing for kids to wear one over here, I’ve never had one as a kid. A lot of kids now wear one up to the age of 9/10. After that no more. Outside race cycling (think tour the France for amateurs) adults never wear helmets here. I’ve never seen anyone wear any other form of protection when cycling.
ETA now that Dd rides without training wheels we need to get hear a helmet too.

Evie refuses to ride her bike out of our driveway, so we are hit or miss on the helmet. She puts it on a majority of the time. When she actually starts riding somewhere besides our driveway, yes, she will wear it.
Helmets were not a thing when I grew up (late 70s/early 80s). My brother, his best friend and I used to ride our bikes into town on a gravel road in the summers, 2 miles one way. I can't imagine letting Evie do that now.

My kids wear helmets but MH & I don't. I need to get one before they start asking me why I don't wear one.

I think the lack of helmets over here in kids over 10 and adults has a lot to with cycling being more of a transportation method than an activity. I think there are more bikes than people over here and out country has adapted to bikes being everywhere, we have bike lanes, special traffic lights, courses in traffic safety in elementary school, it is mandatory to have lights and reflectors on you bike to cars can see you in the dark amongst other things.

I fell off so many times and was thrown off. Never wore a helmet. And almost got hit by a car once.

I never had a helmet as a kid. My kids wear them but i think i need to tighten the straps because they wear them pretty loosely, probably defeats the purpose.

I think she's between sizes because the one she has now is way to loose. Bell makes one that has a mini dial tighten thingy on the back strap. I can't find it on Amazon but I found it at a store here.

I never had a helmet as a kid either. MH and I wear helmets because #1, MH doesn't trust clumsy me and #2, C is like the helmet police. Anytime anyone rides by without a helmet he's screaming, "You forgot your helmet! Hey! You need to get your helmet!". I do feel nerdy wearing one haha

We don’t have bikes or scooters. I was thinking of getting him one this year but that’s on hold until this craziness is done
