Watching 2 extra kids today. Its been a rough week so this will be an exhausting end to it.. A told me Monday he would have to work tomorrow, as of right now he doesn't have to. Hopefully it stays that way.. I need the break.

I have a virtual PTO meeting tonight. Curious what they have to say. Hoping to get some info on what the school is thinking for next year. Our governor proposed a split schedule of 2 days in school, 3 e-learning. And there would be 2 groups of students that would attend on opposite days. That sounds awful for everyone. A and I are considering a home school curriculum if they do something unreasonable. At least then I can create our schedule. I really really don't want that though..

Morning. Quiet day today. We ordered burgers and sweet potato fries with chillies and feta for dinner tonight and I’m already hungry. It is relatively warm over here, so I might set up the kiddie pool or a tub water to mess about with for the kids in a bit. I slept like crap again and my h has a meeting in an hour, so he sent me up for a nap.

Part of this is what they’re doing here, split classes, alternating longer days, working on assignments on other days, no more zoom lessons etc. I have to say both kids are thrilled beyond reason to see there friends and go to school again even if just for two days.

I think the e-learning would be practice for whatever was taught those 2 days. And would be turned in like homework. But who knows. Both boys love school so I hate to not send them for any schedule. But I just don't know.

That looks delicious! Last year we often got the ‘crunchy salad’ at the deli counter in the grocery store, I love raw broccoli and cauliflower! You’ve inspired me, I’ll put it on the menu somewhere next week .

I'm at the office and my MIL is homeschooling M today. H has decided to be a pain in the ass to put to bed lately and is now waking us up 1-3 times a night. WTF kid? I'm so tired but at least the office isn't busy.

ugh tgrimes - B was up MOTN too and just didn't want to be alone. He rarely is up unless sick but the past week or so it's been happening more and more frequently. I just sit in his room and every time I try to get up to leave he glares at me and whispers "SIT IN THE CHAIR!".

@peach, that schedule sounds fine in theory, but how in the world does it work logistically with parents eventually going back to work and families that have children in multiple grades?

My sister said their state is talking about the possibility of this, as well. It's fine if you have older kids and they can stay at home by themselves. Not so much for elementary kids.

I heard the Texas governor talking about a few different possibilities yesterday. I believe they definitely want to start school earlier in August to give wiggle room for a longer winter break (if needed for a rise in covid cases) or breaks in the fall.

We would be fine but most would not. Even if you have childcare that will work with that schedule, I doubt they're going to be doing school work with them. So you get home, make, feed and clean up dinner and then school your children in between baths and bedtime? Its crazy.

But I just don't know. I think schools are just making contingency plans for just in case they can’t resume a normal schedule. I wouldn’t worry about it until closer to school starting because things will change fifty eleven times from now until then. My SIL has a friend that is a principal in Houston and she said there is so many layers to planning for next year. It’s a lot, but they just want to make sure they have plans in place for different scenarios.

Over here most schools made sure that siblings are in school at the same day (that must have been an organisational nightmare) and if you use aftercare etc. you can use it on the days your kids goes to school. ETA for us the first three weeks will be a bit of an ordeal since Ds is in school and Dd in pre-school, on different days, with different drop off/pick-up times... we’ll see how that goes. Hopefully after three weeks dd is allowed to enroll in Ds’ class (Always the plan, but these are weird times).

I also think if they have to do some type of amended or altered schedule, that would mean that things aren’t great virus wise and schools wouldn’t be the only ones with an amended schedule. There would probably be some type of “safer at home” for everyone.

There would probably be some type of “safer at home” for everyone. Also the case here. Schools are one of the first things opening up again, but for the most part we all need to work from home, group gatherings of more than three aren’t allowed, shopping needs to be done solo etc.

I would be all in for an earlier start. We already start mid August. Or even go a little later in the spring.

Morning! We’ve just been hanging out so far and the girls are playing nicely together for the most part. I need to get everyone ready soon because my doctor appt is in 35 minutes. It’s supposed to rain this afternoon so lots of togetherness until I have to go to work.

I like lahdeedah's approach. I imagine the schools will change their ideas over and over again. I'm a bit mixed because in my state a lot of decisions have been made at the last minute. Obviously annoying because no time to plan, but also reduces the anxiety of eleventy different options being proposed and changed. Somewhere in the middle would be nice.

I'm PMSing and have the oddest craving--licorice pastels. I have no idea where I can get these and I refuse to order a pound from Amazon for too many dollars.

All the kids are playing nicely. MJ just conked out so I need to lay her down so I can get M set up for his zoom meeting. Hopefully the others will be quiet-ish.
