My hospital system is paying the employees portion of insurance through June for everyone. Too bad that doesn’t do anything for me since I’m on DH’s insurance. It’s alright though, we haven’t really been impacted by the closures too much.

lahdeedah I bought those wireless headphones and really like them so far. Good! I gave them to Mh yesterday. I don’t think he has taken them out of the box yet. Glad they are working for you. |

my company did a bunch of furloughs and the company is still paying their portion and the employee has to send in the employees portion. I thought that was nice enough - but the fact that they are paying yours too is awesome! Yeah! My furlough is completely voluntary. I think they're really trying to make it work for people while saving money and hopefully avoiding mandatory furloughs/lay offs. I'm sure if I were just told I was furloughed they wouldn't do that! This is exactly what ours is doing. They have been amazing to the employees trying to give them a chance to make all their hours. I knew I liked this hospital system. Sounds like yours is a good one, too. |

tgrimes I'm sorry, that is so frustrating. What a jerk. wineallthetime glad to hear the terms are good for you. I'm biased but I'd be really disappointed if they didn't treat their employees well there. Also wtf was going on at your state house today😳. Our schools are still closed until 5/15 but I'm sure it'll be extended.

OMFG y’all. My mother just sent my sister and me a text saying she’s been in the hospital since the 28th and had a pacemaker put in today. She’s still groggy from surgery so don’t call.

I don’t feel comfortable flying there right now. Is that weird? Should I fly? This may be a UO but if I was going to go, I would fly. DH's aviation forums say planes are consistently taking off empty. Average passenger count is 10. The planes are being misted with sanitizer b/n flights. Airports are ghost towns. I flew right before the shut down and I was impressed with all the measures put in place. Esp with a mask, I think you'd be fine and would encounter less germs that way than driving, stopping at gas stations/rest areas, possibly a hotel, etc. eta: I'm really sorry about your mom and that she didn't keep y'all looped in. I don't know why older people do that but we dealt with it with my dad's parents and it's so frustrating. eta2: 1 thought...does CA have any quarantine restrictions in place, or your current city, if you travel/come back? You wouldn't want to get stuck out there. I know in FL, people coming in from certain states have to self-quarantine for 14 days. |

Here I know if you come from LA you have to but I’m not sure about CA’s restrictions. |

It's been a week. Work has been so busy and the end is looking further away the more these dumbass governors open back up before hitting all the suggested metrics. I'm sick to my stomach thinking about the thousands of extra people who will because of it. I'm furious that states are using this as an excuse to kick people off the unemployment roles when so many have small kids at home and no school or viable child care options. The fact that our piece of garbage president uses his executive powers NOT to mandate the production of PPE but to call on meat packing plants to stay open, putting their poorly paid workforce at risk. And a bunch of heavily armed men stormed a government building and were screaming at lawmakers but it's okay because they're white. I'm just so angry and disgusted right now.
My coworkers in Barcelona are in complete shock at what they're seeing in the news about the U.S. They legit didn't believe what they HAVE heard, let alone so much more they hadn't heard about yet. I can't believe the piss poor way our government is handling this. It's an abomination.

Wow, tgrimes. She is... something. I hope she's released and you don't need to go there. I'd personally drive if needed. I don't want to be trapped in a plane, even just 10 people, and I'd want my car to have the ability to travel freely just in case. |

My uncle does but since my mother had a following out with him (shocking) they don't really talk anymore. I know his address but have no idea what his phone # is. He's a few years older than my dad, so I'm not sure how helpful he'd be. His dementia isn't at the point where he needs round the clock care, but it's still concerning, if that makes sense. |

tgrimes have you called your dad directly? Is he still capable of somewhat normal phone contact and able to give any reliable report about how he's doing? I know this may sound extreme, but you can also call the police and have them do a wellness check.
