tgrimes I'm sorry to hear that, when will he find out his status? I hope he's safe. They’re having a company worldwide meeting next week to “present the business results, the future business outlook as well as their final decisions on any additional measures and how these may impact you.” I assume shortly thereafter they’ll be letting people know. Damn, that's almost worse. To know people are going to be let go and just make you wait to find out. How stressful for everyone.

I think it’s unrealistic that the economic fallout of this would be different with a different president. Every country in the world is affected by this and their economies reflect that. This is happening globally. It absolutely sucks, no doubt about it. Of course, but would we have had to shutdown the economy to the extent we did with swifter action? Would be in better shape if we actually had reasonable access to testing? I think it’s unreasonable to believe that isn’t the case. He can say that keeping things closed is hurting the economy, and that’s absolutely true, but had he taken the necessary steps to order testing and track the initial cases, would we have found ourselves in a situation with so much community spread and having to overcorrect for that? Not to mention the fact that he disbanded the pandemic response team in 2018, and then Dog only knows what the maniac is thinking with cutting funding to the WHO just yesterday. I don’t think any other president would do something that idiotic in the middle of a pandemic. You also have him firing the IG who is supposed To be overseeing the stimulus distribution, and many positions in the executive branch that remain vacant and can’t get the SBA funds distributed as quickly as promised... And the thing is, this erodes earnings for decades. Each time the economy comes back after shedding jobs, the wage increases are so minimal they don’t get back to previous levels. THAT is a uniquely American problem. So yes, while this sucks for everyone and every country is impacted, we have policies that are hostile to working families and make it harder for us to recover. Decades of stagnant wage growth cannot be attributed to this president, obviously, but the ideology he embraces absolutely can.

He’s still going to the office. Woof. Have you been in contact with any of your coworkers that were let go? Have they finally been able to file for unemployment? One of them was able to do it in the MOTN. The other 3 I spoke to haven't been able to get through yet. I've heard a bunch of people in our Houston office have done it successfully though.

Lol inthekitty I saw the part about the stimulus reducing with every hundred over the cutoff, but to send out a deposit that little is laughable. But hey guess we should try to be grateful for anything we receive. I need to figure out who to make a donation to, because I am feeling a bit guilty about not necessarily needing what we did get. nam2013 that is very accurate and funny! Well, not that funny because it is our president we are talking about. Stimulate the economy with it to buy local and support local businesses.

Dude was so excited about his little cooking kit. He walked around with his little spatula and apron all day. We made the carrot cake cookies and they were really good.
I now must call him “Chef Atticus.”😂

There's a big protest at our state capitol today. They're protesting the stay at home order and it's unreal. SO MANY people. The streets are jammed with with cars of people honking and yelling and tons of people gathering around with signs and shit (not doing any sort of social distancing). Lots of Trump signs. My mind is blown. We have the highest death rate in the US. STAY THE FUCK HOME, PEOPLE!

Can you even imagine if we had to have SIP orders under Obama? I honestly think some of these nutbags would be starting armed riots. They're so dumb they still support Trump, but yet don't trust their moron-in-chief's guidance to stay home (of course I know he changes his mind about this every time he speaks, but still the official WH guidance is to social distance).

Have people drop like flies? They think that’s good for business? Brainless. wineallthetime I just came across this article and LOL FOREVER to these fools. Hi. I’m still around, trying to keep up here. My work/life balance has completely tanked since we are at home. I feel like i work 24/7 and i have to constantly interface with the district-level people who have unrealistic expectations about working from home. And working from home is fine, but not when you have no childcare and are expected to teach your children. This is just nuts. The other day i had 4 work calls. The 4th one lasted 5 hours. 5 hours!!! It’s been insane. I’m trying to be good, but I’ve been having a glass of wine most nights nowadays.
Anyway, i hope everyone is hanging in there.

Just realized the Notre Dame fire was a year ago this week. Seems like such a long time ago. Our pal at the PM’s office had three showings this afternoon—not virtual, bc we drove by and there were several cars here. Hopefully out of the five who’ve seen it we’ll get a hit. I asked the PM’s office for feedback under the guise of offering to help out if any changes need to be made 😏 I doubt they’ll tell me anything but I would appreciate knowing if it has rented or if things are moving in that direction. I’ve cleaned the house 3x in 3 days and I’m beat!

snoopmommymom good to see you, glad you are hanging in. That many calls—esp the duration—sounds crazy. Right there with you on the vino. Cocktail hour is definitely a thing in the Flamingo house—DH and I joke that the sun is over the yardarm a little earlier with each passing day 😂

cagoldi - It's almost like Trump's inability to pick a lane (outside of whatever the daily theme is on Fox News) and his shitty handling of the pandemic has consequences. Hmmm, who would have thought? Sorry, I'm firmly in the pissed off bench. I was reading today about these councils he's trying to create to plan the reopening of the economy. Mind you these councils are business leaders and not much emphasis on public health, but even ignoring that - first off, apparently no one was notified ahead of time that he was naming them to these panels. Many of these business leaders won't touch anything related to him, and others said they couldn't get in touch with anyone. Just more smoke and mirrors in front of yet another shit show. And freaking forcing his name on the paper checks?! Seriously, what have we come to? It's a damn disgrace.

snoopmommymom that is insanity for a 5 hour call! I typically have a few a day, but rarely longer than an hour. Is your h working or able to help? This is really hard. I'm definitely the default parent here and I do resent it a bit, but he did acknowledge he has no idea about any of the kids schedules/expectations and that I am shouldering the mental load for that. He then asked if it was better or worse that he said that...I said def good to know he's aware he's slacking 🙄. The Hang in there, the only way out of this is through it, one day at a time. I've started thinking we are never going back and this is life now, so then hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised if/when we do. 😂😭

Heck no yo a 5 hour work call. What in the world. Who has 5 hours to talk with kids home?? I’m sorry it’s been rough. Hang in there. snoopmommymomFor some reason, I don’t think my refrigerator is getting as cold as it should be. The past couple days I have gotten drinks and such and they weren’t as cold as it should be. Not hot, but just cooler than room temp. I just checked and appliances aren’t covered under my home warranty. I’m going out to get a thermometer to stick in there so I can know for sure if I need to have it serviced. I don’t love my fridge, but also don’t want to have to buy a new one.

lahdeedah good luck with the fridge. As someone who constantly battles theirs, I feel your pain. I'm always checking the digital thermometer in mine so I can be prepared if we have to buy new. Hell no to a 5 hour phone call. That makes my ear hurt. And I'd have to be so close to an outlet...no way my battery would last that long.

Hi crazy over here. I just got confirmation that I need to go into work once a week to pick up any bills that can only come through the mail. But good news is I can start and end my day at home so I get paid to drive to and from work.
I also found out some sad news that I can’t share yet either. I can’t even share it with my team.

You mean a supremely unqualified idiot who appoints other supremely unqualified idiots is a poor choice to help us navigate such an event?! Damn. I was sure that putting Vince McMahon from the WWE on his economic committee was going to be the silver bullet. This is so unreal. If someone told me ten years ago this is where we’d be, I would have died laughing. Did you see those fools in their MAGA hats protesting in OH yesterday? I think we’re about to see natural selection play out in real time. What could possess anyone to think this way? It’s like every conservative has had a lobotomy.
