Was not there, but it seems TCFers created a politics thread, some SM came in, someone was racist or alluded to racism and when some of us tried to call it out, a shitshow happened. The SM admins shut the board down in response.

Well, the politics thread was a shit show of their posters saying you couldnt call out racists. That llokie chick was being a bitch. I called her a cunt and left. Then Bunny went off. Then Pobre went off. Then approximately one minute later they shut the whole site down.

Basically their policy was that if someone says something inflammatory or mean or whatever, you flag it or PM a mod. They deal with it from there. This came up because we were warned with how we spoke to cnon. Also, we called him the "elephant in the room" and they thought we meant all conservatives. Instead of asking us, they flagged posts and mods came in.
So we started asking specific questions about how this works and gave the scenario of if someone comes in and says something racist. We asked if we were allowed to call that person a racist. And basically they either said no or were wishy washy about it. They prefer we say "you said something racist" and then the mod will warn the person and delete the post or something. So obviously that was not going to work for us.
Some posters also said they had never had that happen before, which is lolok. So obviously oblivious to microagressions and just the internet in general.
They went private and then the mods told their regs they were shutting down completely. I think they have a new spot for their OGs that is private. Some people who were there and want a change are at the other board and might be joining wherever we land. They've given some additional background on the mods and culture there.
I do think the move to shut down was probably a coordinated effort by some of their regs because they were shit stirring all over trying to get us to get warnings/banned.

@juliagulia, I totally agree with you. Not saying we have no blame in it, but I believe from the moment we arrived, there were people there (honestly no idea how many) who were fuck no on the whole thing. It was never going to work.
We did it poorly. Definitely. We did it too fast. Absolutely.
While their admins might have seemed accommodating, their regs were definitely not pleased. As soon as I saw that thread llokie started on Friday night (suggestions for new members), I was pretty sure there was going to be shit going down.
In some ways, I think we might've done them or some of them a favor. I wish we had that thread preserved, because there were some things there worth noting. I don't believe they are all racist assholes (seems like definitely some of them may be pretty cool), but I do think they were in a little bubble and truly there were people there that were/are willing fully ignorant and 100% part of why this issue (race in particular but all minority rights at this time, really)
Maybe I'm being OTT, but if we got 1 or 2 people to take a step back, exam their privilege and take seriously what was being said in that thread, I think that is ultimately a good thing.
