I called my RE’s office to see what their plan for SIP was and they said they were still open but taking less patients each week.
I was told I could have a phone consultation with the doctor if I wanted at a discounted price.
I don’t know. Lots of unknowns. Also my husband has to do another SA because he basically messed the first one up. He said he spilled a bit lol. Anyway. He’s doing that this week. So far that’s all we are waiting for and then we start whatever we can start.

I did one here and honestly it was pretty lame, I think they just fed me a bunch of BS. Little did they know this isnt my first rodeo...

Phone seems a bit impersonal at least for someone kind of doing this for the first time like myself. No real hurry either. Haven’t even made an appointment. We’ve been slowly getting preliminary stuff done past couple months. Waiting on SA and its results to schedule with them. We need to see our money situation too. I sound very sure of this whole process huh?

Hey. We think we’ve found a donor, but of course nothing will happen for a while because of everything else that going on, but I’m ok with that. I hope everyone else is doing well and staying healthy.

Better than a phone call bc you can at least see their face and it‘ll give you a better idea of if you jive well together?

I hope everyone else is doing well and staying healthy. This is exciting! It is exciting. And terrifying. I’m not sure how I feel about getting up the energy to be hopeful again. But I’m going to do it anyway, because I’m looking at the end goal and I still want it. ❤️

miawallace I’m surprised but glad to hear your clinic is still doing consults. Clinics near me have pretty much shut down for the time being. Hopefully you’ll be able to finish up your initial work ups and then can schedule an in person appointment in the future. sally How exciting! Do you mind sharing how you found them? My DH and I are looking into it. Please feel free to PM me if you would feel more comfortable.

I finally made an appointment for this Monday to see the RE. I’m feeling nervous and quite depressed about all of this. My kid asked me why she doesn’t have a sibling. That part always guts me. I just feel very hopeless right now. I’ll keep you guys posted.

miawallace good luck tomorrow! I know making (and going to) that appointment can be really overwhelming, but I always found it useful because at least then it felt like we were doing something. I hope you find it useful! Don’t be afraid to ask questions and take notes so you remember things later.

❤️ I’m going to try to keep it brief. Basically since my right tube is mega blocked, I need to get it removed before I start any sort of fertility treatment. She thinks it’s why It’s painful around ovulation in that side and that fluid can leak and be toxic for any potential future pregnancy. So I need to connect with my Gyn and see that I get it removed. She told me it’s not really invasive. We had to cut our appointment short but she’s calling me at 9am today to discuss what we can do once that tube is removed.

We (my H and I) need to discuss and make a decision regarding how to finance either IUI or go straight into IVF. I’m 36 - 37 in nov so I need to hurry this up a bit. We have enough cash at hand to do 1 or two iui. Maybe 3. If those don’t work. We need to figure out if we pursue IVF, how we will fund that. Most likely a loan which woof to those interests rates. I’ve been researching lower interest rates too. Or if we do IVF right away and use what we already have to off-set a potential loan. My doctors office sent the HSG report without the images to the RE so I’ve been submitting those requests today. My doctor thinks if it’s not blockage due to hydrosalpinx I might not need surgery to remove and we can start whatever treatment soon. Some context. Both my Bloodwork looked great. So was my husbands and his SA. No issues with None of that and she told us we were unexplained because on paper we look good.

It is a lot all at once, and it sucks that what you pursue might come down to finances- this stuff isn’t cheap. Did the RE have any info on expected success statistics for IUI vs IVF? I vaguely remember that the stats I heard on IUI were not that much better than TI with a medicated cycle or trying on your own, but it has been a looong time since I have thought about that and could be wrong. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do IUI though, it works for a lot of people and it’s a natural next step. If financing is an issue, would a line of credit get you a better interest rate? Or is that what you were looking at? Good luck with your decision!

miawallace Hope you don't mind if I jump in. I did IVF 6 years ago after being diagnosed with PCOS and 3 rounds of clomid then 3 rounds of letrozole. I'm currently trying for #3 (#1 was a fresh transfer and #2 was a frozen transfer.) I have no more embryos left, so we have been doing letrozole/timed intercourse cycles for a few months bc I don't want to do IVF again for various reasons. Been hanging out on TTGP but still have IF in my heart. If you do not get your tube removed, would the RE doing anything different? You've been trying on your own for some time without success I believe. If you ovulate regularly and your H's SA was normal, I do not see any value to doing IUI or TI cycles unless that tube is removed. I have heard of blocked tubes causing fertility problems, even if there isn't any leakage or swelling. So personally, I would push to get it removed. As I stated above, if you're ovulating regularly and H is normal, the difference between IUI and TI is negligible. That's one reason we've gone with TI. The only issue would be if you have some other issue that might prevent pregnancy. I would recommend getting started (with doctor's approval) on COQ10. It is a supplement that improves egg quality. It will hopefully help you once treatment starts and it takes about 3 months to make a difference. I wish I had started it earlier, because I'm starting to get concerned about my eggs and I'm 33. As far as IVF vs IUI/TI, I would think about if you would want more than one more child. If you want a few more kids, IVF would be the way to go long term. But if you only want one, how would you feel if you had any leftover embryos? Would that be a worry for you? Just some things to think about. Financing wise, an idea is to look at a credit card potentially. You might be able to find one that has a lower interest rate than a loan, then pay it off similarly to a loan. And you also need to think of the cost of meds on top of the clinic fee. It can add up. I'll be thinking of you and good luck on your journey.

robotsvswrestlersThank you for taking time to respond. Truly appreciate it. There’s a big chance I will just head straight to IVF. I want to maximize my funds if that makes sense. I don’t want to scrap IUI completely, but my tube issue is making me doubt IUI is the way I should proceed. We’ve been trying 2.5 years. It’s more cost friendly but my tube issues sort of puts that even more into uncertainty. I have an appointment with my GYN to discuss the removal of my tube for next week. Hopefully things start moving forward. I’m done with waiting. My RE is still waiting for my hsg images. She wants to make sure it wasn’t just a one day fluke and my tube wasnt just cramped up from the procedure and not hydrosalpinx. If it’s the former, I for sure need it removed and make a decision after that. The report just said blocked but didn’t mentioned anything else. I’ve been researching meds for IVF too. I hear they are expensive so just trying to get that sorted too.

update: I spoke with my RE today and she said my blocked tube doesn’t seem to be a hydrosalpinx so she says I have green light to start IUI next cycles. That’s good news because I don’t need surgery to remove blockage. It’s still a hindrance, but it’s not a toxic situation in case I get pregnant. I think we are doing 1-2 IUI and if that doesn’t work we are going straight to IVF.

I’m supposed to call the office once I start cd1. Which will be around Fourth of July weekend.
