Day 1 of distance learning what a shit show. We only did an hour and a half in the morning before the districts servers failed. Then we got back on for music class, which was a joke. We did two activities in class and there were two that were assigned for after but C was in a shit mood and was having none of it. And since I got nothing done all morning, I wasn’t pushing it. Dh is home tomorrow so I plan on showing him the set up and letting him navigate a bit.

A's aunt just started the Facebook event page for the big family Easter. April 12th. There is typically over 120 people there. But dont worry- they're not doing the egg hunt because of the virus. But everyone will still be eating together and about 35 kids on one play ground and sand box.....
I already RSVP "no"

Dh is home tomorrow so I plan on showing him the set up and letting him navigate a bit. We continue to suck at it. I set a 20 minute timer for T to do this math. Then we read 3 stories on kids a-z. Those are our go to lessons. Sometimes we do a few more things but usually not. Mostly, T is learning parenting skills while he takes care of C so we can work. Also, after yesterday’s class Google Hangout for kindergarten, I’m thanking my lucky stars that T is not nearly as annoying as half those other kids. The teacher was calling their name and they got to introduce a pet or a stuff animal to the class. T was last to be called and sat patiently with his microphone off for 42 minutes. A few kids interrupted ever single kid and that’s why it took forever. I’d forgive if the parents weren’t available but every single one doing that had a parent sitting in front of the camera with them. Mute your kid if they can’t be quiet.

Yes, birthday parties always give me a whole new appreciation for my own kid We used Flipgrid on Monday to do 'show and tell', so we uploaded a video of B sharing his item. All the kids' videos are in one place and you can watch them at your leisure, respond to a classmate's video, etc. That was cute and very manageable, people could do them over the course of the day. One little girl had lost her first tooth so she was all excited about that. So sweet.

I'm sorry school was challenging wedding...but not surprised. I hope they realize this format doesn't work and switch soon.

I'm enjoying the learning activities with the girls when I have the time. It helps that we're basically picking what they do at this point and they are self-motivated once they get going. The workbook I got for Maddie is great and I wish I was able to get the same for Cass. She has a Highlights one and the math is too easy but the reading/language arts stuff is too hard.
We did @sing2phin's alphabet scavenger hunt today and they had a lot of fun.

I can’t believe districts are trying to do live classes for kindergarten. O’s district assigned worksheets and educational app activities and called it a day. And that’s challenging enough! I can’t imagine trying to sit him in front of the laptop for a Live class. DH and I have our own meetings online to attend to. I feel like wedding’s district needs to lower their expectations.

klong11 Do you know of anyone else that is going into your office regularly that could turn your computer on? Save you the trip. peachsmama That woman is crazy. Our town had an egg hunt scheduled, which they have cancelled. But since they had so many eggs, you could sign up on FB and they will deliver them to your house. All eggs are handled with gloves, deliveries will be to your doorstep, with gloves as well. I signed up for a delivery of them. I've attended one of their egg hunts and it was a shit show...so many kids and my super shy child got like 2 eggs. So this is her time to shine!

I bought stuff to fill eggs and we'll have an egg hunt here for the boys on easter. And I'll probably try to make an easter dinner.

And I have no idea what makes it safer without the egg hunt. That's the one time the kids aren't on top of each other because they're running wild in the field grabbing eggs!

Josie’s school got an email this morning that she is closed until April 20th, but they are honoring spring break (4/10-4/17) at first I thought it was a mistake on his part but what I actually think he might mean is that there will be no distance-learning for the teachers or the students on those days. That’s a nice little bonus!

It took my kids 45 minutes where they worked together, played so nicely, and then presented their findings to me. I basically gave them a piece of paper with the alphabet on it, a marker to cross out letters as they went, and a big basket, and asked them to find things in the playroom that started with each letter of the alphabet. Genius! I’m thinking of doing one today with colors and attaching numerical values to it. Three orange things, yellow things etc.

They presented each object to us later. It was great to see how creative they got with finding each item.

guster, Thanks! I'm not on Facebook. I like the idea. The big question- did they put the items back after? I'll probably do it over the weekend if it rains.

I have not planned a thing for Easter. My mind can’t go past the next day or I go crazy 😜 inthekitty what is this scavenger hunt? Same. I went to target today and passed by the Easter aisles. I saw no sale signs so I just kept on walking. I hate buying stuff like that regular price. I know they will stay open if we do SIP, so I’ll just check the weekly ad when it changes and go back when there is a sale. It also reminded me that I have a bin full of Easter decor that I need to put out.

I haven’t puts anything out for easter, I’ve never been this late. I think I’ll do it Sunday and surprise the kids with some easter crafts at ‘school’ on Monday .

I warned them before they even started they had to pick up afterward. This is usually their downfall. I also encouraged them to only pick items from upstairs to make it a little easier.
