following state mandates so it could change. I'm afraid there won't be any mask mandates from the state. The governors office has already said there is no plan to reinstate mask mandates or other orders, and "everybody now has the opportunity to get the vaccine" FALSE! There's also the SB 22 that passed which gives OH leg power to rescind any health orders My hope hangs on county health departments making recommendations and the school districts following those, so... Yep. Dewine has already said he has no power to mandate masks so I don't see it happening.

Our district won’t follow any recommendations, only mandates. And then only if they agree with them and only if they come from the state, apparently. So my corner of the county is a free for all, no laws, no enforcement, ‘MERICA. I’m so effing mad. And I also found out today the county raised by house value by 25% (which is insane and not at all what we could sell it for even now) so my taxes will skyrocket too. I’m going to wait for the market to crash in the next year and then pay for an appraisal to fight it. I hate this fucking place.

Our new school district just announced masks are required for everyone in PK-6 buildings and strongly recommended for 7-12 regardless of vaccination status. Also required for all on buses.
I am so damn relieved. We also had a dramatic home buying pivot that resulted in us moving to a different Clevealand burb than initially planned and I feel as though it was fate or something. I am so glad we ended up where we did.

Took the baby to the pediatrician today and he asked if I’m sending the kids in-person this year since they stayed home last year. I told him I am but delta is making me nervous. He said it’s making him nervous too since he is sending his first grader in person this year so that made me feel not confident in everything. He said with only my kids masked and none of the other kids masked it wouldn’t help them much. I have zero faith that other kids will mask up.

Looks like around here, most schools are recommending not requiring. But kids have to wear them on the bus. Vast majority of kids bus, so I’m hoping they will just keep wearing them once they get to school. My kid goes to Catholic grade school and I haven’t hear one way or another. I wonder/hope if they are waiting until the last minute for the tide to turn before announcing. I feel like every day more people are accepting that Delta is coming.

The news finally had a story on school plans. As I suspected, everyone is back face to face with at best being masks recommended and half of them say "covid protocols will be in place but yet to be determined". School starts in 2 weeks! You might wanna figure that out!

Our school board meeting is tonight. They’re anticipating it getting intense based on social media comments and the fact that three of the six on the board are up for re-election or replacement in November. I’m sending DH in my place as we are very active at our community and district meetings (even when I homeschooled last year).
I anticipate masks being parental choice which is frustrating to me as a parent and educator.

This was my thought process too which is why I told DD that if her school isn't mandating it I wouldn't make her wear it.

my campus is back to mask mandatory on campus, but no distance requirements.
Unvaccinated have to get tested every 4 weeks (I don't know how they plan to do this if we aren't allowed to ask, but maybe administration is allowed but staff isn't?)

I guess Giant Eagle is back to mandating masks for customers. Someone there needs to get their shit together.

Does anyone know if the tax free weekend applies to online shopping? I reeeaaaallly don't want to combat the crowds at the stores.

Last year I was able to shop online at children’s place and target so I would assume you could do so this year too! I’m planning on shopping online again so I will be very sad if it’s only in person.

Joanns is requesting all customers wear a mask regardless of vaccine status and the sign says they will give you one if you don't have one.

My brain is mush so I couldn't guarantee it, but I'm fairly certain I've ordered online before and been charged no sales tax

ODH issued updated quarantine guidelines yesterday. Essentially, if you’re masked or vaccinated and have contact with someone that tested positive, you don’t need to quarantine. If you’re not, you do. I have a friend on our school board who sent this to me and said the hope is that this will encourage masking (the district has already said masks are not required). I am hoping so hard that kids don’t get sick this fall and things go smoothly, but I just have this horrible feeling that it’s going to be a total shitshow. odh.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/odh/media-center/odh-news-releases/odh-news-release-08-05-21

So the formal email came out from our President and everyone is required to test unless you voluntarily give them proof of vaccination. My problem with that is that it has been shown and said over and over the last 2 weeks about how the vaccinated are spreading it just as much as the unvaccinated and it is because vaccinated aren't getting tested or like chrispy1122, just pointed out if you are vaccinated no quarantine needs to happen. We are 90% sure my vaccinated MIL gave my unvaccinated FIL the virus since she had the symptoms first. Us vaccinated are just as dangerous we just don't get as sick.

Is anyone watching at 11? Hoping for some cliff notes. Yes I will. I’m assuming the local channels will show it live? I’m back to working from home full time because of delta and my autoimmune disease. My company sent out an email mandating masks again starting Monday.

Are we expecting him to say anything of note? I can't remember how often he's been doing press conferences.

Since he was essentially stripped of being able to do health mandates, I don’t know what he could do but plead with people. I really don’t have a good feeling with this school year.

DD is going from no exposure minus family and grocery store to school and daycare that has 6 elementary schools that attend it.

DS has only been doing summer camp at his school. There's less than 75 kids there. He's got in the habit of wearing his mask wrong (nose exposed) & barely anyone is wearing masks there now. It's frustrating but at least ending soon. School is going to be 10x worse with people. Locally, people are saying they have/know kids in the ICU with Covid so I'm very oof with everything right now.

Typing as I listen…
At a new stage in pandemic. Good info is important. These are the facts. We have highly effective vaccines. We now live in a state with 2 groups of people (vax and unvax). 60% of 18 and over are vaccinated. 12 and up=58% vaxxed.
Since Jan 1, 18662 in hospital. Of those 18,367 were unvaxxed. 295 we’re vaxxed. 98.4% unvaxxed. Will be posted every Thursday.
July 4-17 showed 86.47% cases were Delta. Experts say today we’re way above that number.
