Maybe we can all help each other out.
This is the thread for when the grocery is bare and you have random things in your pantry. and you have to somehow turn it into a meal.
Substitution ideas welcome, like making a cake with a box of cake mix plus a can of soda, when you don't have oil and eggs.
how to use things in a different way than you usually do and how to stretch what you do have

Shakshuka is a good pantry meal if you have eggs!

All right AmyG I am reviving this thread because I am sick of cooking/making stuff that my kids won't eat. Feeling very uninspired. Things I have on hand: chicken breast, chicken thighs, ground beef, ground turkey, pork tenderloin, pork roast, beef sirloin steak. Pantry: a decent variety of beans (dried and canned), pasta, rice, canned tomato sauce, coconut milk, baking supplies, various vinegars, soy sauces, fish/oyster sauce. We tend to grill a lot, we like Asian inspired flavors and recipes. DH works at a grocery store so working strictly from what we have on hand is not a requirement.

peachesncream , what have you been making that they won't eat? cause I don't wanna repeat what you are already doing. I would do a chicken breast, onion, mushroom, white sauce over pasta (macaroni grill Carmela's chicken ) thai glazed chicken thighs with carrots and rice www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/recipes/a51922/thai-glazed-chicken-recipe/If you do Indian food Saag paneer, make your own paneer cheese or use a mexican soft white cheese or tofu, I've been known to add chicken breasts to it www.slenderkitchen.com/recipe/sunday-slow-cooker-saag-paneer/ampserve with naan www.halfbakedharvest.com/homemade-naan-step-step-photos/egg roll in a bowl with the ground chicken? toss pork roast in crock pot with onion, liquid smoke, apple cider vinegar, some hot tom, nd then shred and have half with bbq sauce on buns with cole slaw or corn and half shred and have with hot sauces as tacos or other mexican dish. this posted in the middle so I finished the sentence and will see what else I can come up with.

Instead of sirloin steak as steak how bout www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/a21947441/balsamic-steak-skewers-recipe/ kids like the skewers so they can sword fight or slice thin and make a stir fry beef and broccoli or pepper beef (with bell peppers and onion, not hot peppers) cut that pork loin up to make pork chops, pieces that can sub as boneless pork ribs in oven or crock pot, or pork stir fry, pork fried rice pieces. there's lots of recipes for beans, tomato and pasta with mix veggie type soups, get them before it gets to hot to eat soup. of course we'd turn all the beans and tomato somehow into chile with or without meat or refried beans.

THANK YOU, AmyG ! Those recipes all sound awesome. I actually have mushrooms here and I was planning on making buttered noodles for the kids so that sounds delicious for the adults. I think I am just in a taco/noodle/homemade pizza rut. I'm making a recipe list to make it easier to brainstorm a meal plan and all of those are going on it!
