The big thing with the DO is to be sure you oil it. Like, a lot. I use olive oil (not extra virgin), but it does smoke so if you have sensitive alarms, don't do that.
Butter caramelizes too much for my taste, so I like oil. It's entirely preference.

Does anyone have a good sandwich bread recipe they want to share? I like this one with oatmeal, my kids call it “the good bread” lol. But I’d love to find something that replicates good old white bread. Every recipe I’ve ever tried has been too dense no matter what I do. www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/back-of-the-bag-oatmeal-bread-recipe

IF my son ever goes back up to school in Flagstaff I'll give him your recipe suggestion. He's the crazy young college student trying to make homemade bread at almost 7000 ft.

STP do you prefer to use bread flour or is AP OK? I think I have 1/2 a bag of bread flour left, but H just bought me a 25lb bag of AP from Costco....

I made french bread and sourdough dinner rolls this week. The sourdough wasn't ready though, so maybe by tomorrow the starter will be ready.

I looked online and there are so many different ways. Some with yeast some without, different feeding times. I got overwhelmed and just closed the browser lol. Any advice?

So, my starter didn’t work, it never got sour and I let it sit for 4 days. I used yeast, flour and warm water. I’ll keep trying though and let you know if I find one that ends up working.

Ooh I have been wanting to bake bread. I used to bake it a lot before I was GF. But maybe I need to dive into GF baking. I've been afraid lol. But i made pie dough on Sunday and it was delightful so... lets see what happens.
But I still love the smell of bread baking so I may try some of these for my fam too.

I have a loaf rising right now. Fingers crossed for a nice rise. I've done this bread before and it's a great taste, mix of all purpose and a rye/wheat mix. I'm nom nom.

I love making English muffin loaf. With butter and a drizzle of honey or orange marmalade. I’d eat the entire loaf.

I couldn’t find any yeast at the store so sourdough it is. There's always beer bread. If you have beer 3 cup self rising flour, or regular flour (add 1 tsp salt and 1 T baking powder) 3 T sugar 1 beer mix well, but not too much, a few lumpies are ok. put in a bread pan, a cast iron pan, or a round casserole or whatever you wish. brush some butter on top. You can add sprinkle of spices on top if you wish or add cheese (about 1/4-1/2cup) and you can use different kinds of beer to get different flavors. If it's a sweet tasting beer, use a little less sugar. or 375 for 30-40 minutes til brown and pulls away from the edges and sounds hollow when you thump it

We do have beer but it is a hot commodity, probably more so than bread.

I tried a new recipe today. I rushed the second rise because I needed to get it baking so it would be done before I had to leave. Our oven has a spread proofing setting and I only did 20 minutes in there instead of a regular hour rise. Next time I will let it go longer before baking but this is what I got this go around. Kids approve of the flavor too.
