And now that oil prices are down, Houston is about to take a huge hit. My job is taking a huge hit. Not good. Have they talked about layoffs or anything? |

LOL tgrimes, I'M TRYING TO BE RESPONSIBLE!!! You are thinking exactly what I am as far as paint and I’m glad you asked those questions. I want to take all my cabinets and doors off for someone to spray them, too. I do need to actually call painters to find out if it’s even possible that they can do this. Also like that we are talking kitchen Reno’s because I have no clue as to what will look best. I may have to revive the house projects thread to get some input. I want to keep the cabinets white, but have no clue what color countertops and backsplash to do. I’ve looked at kitchens on Houzz, but I have a hard time trying to imagine it in my space. |

Hi! It’s been steady at work, and I’ve been reading a little here and there. I’ve been trying to follow the CV threads to keep up with what is happening in different parts of the country.
My cold is kicking my ass today. All the meds I’ve been taking just decided to stop working today and I’ve been completely blocked. I’m pretty sure it’s sinus infection, so I may head to be seen when I leave. Since it came on within a week of my last cold, hopefully she will just prescribe me the ABX I need.

Sorry for those of you whose jobs are being effected by this. It's scary how many people and the potential long term effects this may cause. vino just hire the hot guy. I'm sure his work is amazing. I even recommended my hot Christmas light guy to someone on FB yesterday. He sent me a text thanking me.  |

jewels , I'm sorry it's hitting you directly. I know cancelling SXSW is hurting a lot of bars and businesses here. Yeah that was a huge blow to the industry as a whole, and since then there have been so many things cancelled. I'm hopeful it's a short term loss and people start gathering more soon. We will be ok, overall, b/c MH is very good with money and before he started his own company a few years ago he made sure we had a large safety net. But obviously you don't want to use that safety net, you know? A few small companies in my area are struggling to stay afloat and may go under. Another larger competitor to my company announced some layoffs today, with a plan in place for more by next week. We are a small industry so this is just terrifying everyone. |

My friend chaperoned the field trip today. She said someone leaked that their was an emergency meeting for district principals this morning and all were told to develop curriculum packets for 2 weeks and have it ready in 24 hours. They'll probably hand them out on Friday since spring break is next week.
This would be huge since we're the 7th largest district in the country.
But then the superintendent makes a recorded phone call to everyone saying they're monitoring the situation and no one in the district has tested positive yet and to expect an email from her later today.

vino Hmm, good question about the spraying vs. rollers/brushes. I feel like every painter has their preferred method but I think both work well, assuming the painter is decent. So I would go with who you like best. tallb yes things were better lahdeedah I'm all for resurrecting the house thread! re: corona virus, yes, I'm definitely more concerned with economic impact than the illness itself. Although airline and interest rates have dropped again, so not a bad time to buy a house  Hopefully this will go the way of some of these other viruses we've seen in recent years--SARS, swine flu, bird flu, ebola, zika --and we won't hear much about it again once it clears out.

That’s exciting re: upcoming house projects slenle! Would y’all be taking down walls or does the existing space work? Your basement turned out so well, I’m sure the kitchen will be equally great. I’m also in the Pinterest rabbit hole lately, if we end up in the house we’re currently considering it would need a kitchen ‘refresh’. So many options! No walls need to be moved, thankfully! I’ll post in the house updates thread! |
