Not much going on around here. The girls enjoyed STEM night at their school.
I'm having a FWP. Maddie got invited to be assessed for the TAG program in her school. She did TAG testing 2 years ago and narrowly missed the cut-off. She's a bright kid and consistently gets high scores. However in the past it just meant she'd be in the program in her school. The invite suggested she go to another school in the district that has a special TAG class if she scores well on the test. Apparently she can still stay in her school, but the program won't be as immersive. I'll pass that bridge when it comes to it depending on how she does on the test, but moving her to a different school (especially now that both girls are finally at the same school) would be a huge decision.

Whoa! It's not often that a west coaster starts a thread! I know, right? I checked this morning when I was languishing my existence in bed at 0500 and not ready to face the day. But I thought for certain by the time I got to work it'd be going. Everybody's sleeping on the job (or actually doing their job).

Morning! B has TC the next couple days so he is at the OSC all day, they have some things planned but I generally dont like when he spends full days there. He took a book of his so if he wants to chill out he has something to read that he likes for his immediate use. It was also pyjama day which he went along with which of course meant two kids left the house for pyjama day, one scheduled and one living her best life doing as she pleases when she pleases.
I'm at work and it's slow for my regular work so I could either work on performance reviews or tune into Love is Blind and/or complete my taxes.....

Speaking of doing jobs...and not doing jobs. I've been busting my ass to get caught up at work. We've had way more than we can handle for about 1.5 years. But I've been typing away furiously and close to being caught up for the first time in over a year. All of my colleagues are way behind me. I usually don't take a lunch break, but today I'm taking an extra long lunch break and scheduled a massage.

OMG, vino. I finished Love is Blind this morning! I had to come into work late for child care so I woke up early and watched it. Did you know that the weddings actually took place mid-nov 2018? They're airing a reunion episode next week, I can't wait!

I think I'm sleeping and working. I've woken with a headache and sore throat the last two days, thanks to my kid. It's making my motivation shit.

That's a big decision for sure inthekitty, just when things are seemingly settled there is always a change on the horizon. Never fails.

MH enrolled L in a different preschool this morning for the fall. Registration was at 8. People got there at 3:30 and lined up outside in the freezing weather to wait. What!? He got there at 7 and she got a spot so jokes on you, crazy people!

inthekitty That is a big decision. Have you asked her how she would feel switching schools? She's obviously bright. But is she bored? Does she have lots of friends? As much as I value the scholastic part of school, the social part is equally important to me. Maybe it's because I went to the same school my entire life, but I'd have a hard time pulling Evie once she had established friendships. I think it's a battle I will likely have with H in the near future.

MH was like... uhhhh are we sure we want her to go to this school with these crazy parents?

LOL and also 😳😳😳 at the preschool registration wineallthetime. Glad she got a spot! I’ve heard of a school like that down home, where people camp out overnight, and it’s not even that great of a place (IMO), it’s just the only thing in the area. Thanks, I’ll just drive an extra 5 minutes in the mornings and register in a more civilized fashion.

Love is Blind is total trash and I'm all in. I've got a few episodes to go, but I hope to finish it today. I'm excited about the reunion episode. The pathology is strong in so many of the contestants. There's a thread in the TV/Blinds section.

inthekitty congrats to M! Tough decision for sure. We have a similar scenario here with G&T. There’s a magnet school for grades 2-8 that you apply to (there may also be pull-out sessions for kids in the regular elementary schools, not sure). I see pros and cons either way. I like a lot of what mwhip had to say on the subject. Feel better mwhip! Almost the weekend, hang in there. kim22 hope you get a break soon.

Giananni talks like she's reading a love poem or something. It's so odd! Girl just wants her butterfly's back though so I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

Also, morning!
Waiting outside for the bus and turning into an ice cube in the process 🥶 At least the sun is out today.
I’m heading to get my nails done in a bit and then home to pack and finish some last-minute laundry. Our flight tmrw is literally at the crack of dawn so I cannot do my usual packing procrastination.

Maybe it's because I went to the same school my entire life, but I'd have a hard time pulling Evie once she had established friendships. I think it's a battle I will likely have with H in the near future. This is how I feel about it too. And like vino said, just when you think you're settled there's always something. Maddie is an extrovert and makes friends wherever she goes. When wedding describes C, M and him sound a lot alike. She gravitates towards being a leader/organizer. So in that respect I think she'd do okay after an initial adjustment. But it would still be a huge change. I don't know if she'd be guaranteed to finish elementary there or if it would be dependent on testing each year. I would be pissed if we transferred her and the following year she didn't test as well and had to return to her other school. We love her current school and she has a great staff and principal. We know nothing of this other school and it's clear on the other side of town (her current school is already quite a distance away and this is even further). I asked her how she would potentially feel about going to a new school for a special program. She said she'd be fine with it, but of course she wasn't thinking of the full ramifications of it. My mind immediately when to the Kreylborne's in Malcolm in the Middle. I think she could be successful at either school so I want her to be where she's happiest.

inthekitty That makes it even harder, knowing socially, she would be fine. Evie is super shy, so that definitely impacts my decision for her. But sounds like Maddie would be fine. Would you have to move? Or does your school district allow you to go to whatever school you want? Our district has boundaries set up, so if you live in a certain area, you have to go to one school, although I've heard you can appeal for certain reasons, which I'm sure this would be one of them.

mwhip I hope you feel better soon! wineallthetime people be crazy. Did you ever watch the doc Nursery University? It reminds me of that. It's on Netflix about crazies in NYC acting like the preschool where their kid picks their nose and eats glue will determine if they end up working for a Fortune 500 company and on the cover of Forbes.

I would have had a very difficult time with that move as a kid. I am an introvert to my core. We wouldn't have to move. I asked if bussing would be covered and the district couldn't guarantee it, but it has been in the past (a big school bond was just passed in our local elections so I'd imagine that helps secure transportation). She would get out of Smarty school a little early to take the bus to Current school and then take her regular bus home. I guess that's how it'd work in the morning too. MH saw her principal at the STEM event last night and he said it's a good program but she would also have a program at Current school. I'm sure he's a bit biased though because that has to mess with school stats if all the smarties are pooled at one school for standardized testing.

There is a girl a few doors down from us that goes to the GAT school. Her brother is at the regular elementary. Could you do the testing and then give Maddie the choice if she ends up qualifying? Obviously if you and YH are ok with either choice.
