I'm currently working on our year in review at work; and there is a big chunk that is dedicated to looking forwards to 2020 and beyond. That article is saying the same things that I am writing about. For the record, I work at a financial wellness company, so our work is really dedicated to making sure that employees have access to financial planners who know their company benefits. Anyway, almost all of the financial planning industry is focused on how to retire, specifically on the baby boomers. But with increasing working population of younger workers; many of whom are in a sandwich situation with families, I'm arguing that we are doing a massive disservice to them by continuing to focus on the 65+ group. We have to focus on who is up and coming and find solutions for them. Because being "able" to throw $3550 into an HSA to help with that high deductible plan isn't gonna cut it.

My employer has a great financial planning perk (totally isolated from the firm itself for reasons of employee confidentiality) which sadly not enough people take advantage of, me included at the time. Our may have been a bit different since professional services, partnership model - tons of young employees who eventually move up or out.
But, the planners really stressed planning about for every stage of life, from first year at work to, hey, retiring tomorrow, whether at this employer or anywhere else. The sandwich years are so very tough, just when you think you might be coming up for a little air before all the grey hair sets in.
Once I finally got brave enough to call the planners, well, I cannot suggest strongly enough that if it's a benefit you have, take it. It's just so helpful in having an objective person help you figure out what works best in your situation, whatever income level it is. I know everyone isn't fortunate enough to have this perk, but it's worth seeing if it's hidden somewhere in the benefits.

Some counts is better than no counts, but damn it. The sentence isn't going to be enough.

Trump wouldn’t pardon Weinstein anyway. He’s become the go-to for the GOP to paint leftists as horrible people.

If they have money, he's willing to give them a pass it seems like. The GOP would find another poster boy My cynicism is showing, I'm aware/

I'm really sad to hear about Katherine Johnson. If it hadn't been for Hidden Figures coming out a few years ago, I never would have heard of her and she did so much to move us forward in STEM.

CNN has cut from their coverage to a Kobe/Gianna memorial being held right now at the Staples center
I find that really weird.

Dan Crenshaw has a challenger I am SUPER excited for this. A quick glance at her policy positions and she seems great. I need to do more research but this would be great for TX. And Houston is a good place to work towards turning TX more blue.

Not sure if anyone is aware but there have been railway blockades in support of the Wet’suwet’en land protectors the last two weeks across Canada. (They’re ‘protesting’ a 6b dollar CGL pipeline) Trudeau continues to be garbage and is leaving it in the hands of the OPP/RCMP at the moment so arrests have started today. This is really bad. I’m seeing a lot of “reconciliation is dead” from indigenous circles.
There is also a lot of misinformation being broadcasted about the issue and I’m honestly scared with the racist shift I have seen as a result. It’s a complex issue as there is some indigenous support for the pipeline but we’re talking about unceded territory where the Wet’suwet’en have given an alternate route they’d be okay with but CGL is refusing because it’d be too inconvenient at this point.
I’m sorry to ramble but I’m not doing okay today. The videos from the arrests made me tear up.

Oh babybean , I'm so sorry. The unwillingness to compromise and take the route offered (on OPP's part) is such bullshit. It's heartbreaking that these things continue to happen to indigenous communities. Do you know if there is there any way we can help lend support to the Wet’suwet’en?
