Exactly.  And this is why I'm past the anger stage of it.  I'm sad that they aren't taking the opportunity to take us under their wings and have my kids know the extended family of a grandfather they never had the chance to meet.

Right. And if they loved him so much, why wouldn't they want to include you guys as an extension of him? I do not get that at all. 

Taking all adults out of the equation...The aunt i mentioned who passed away would have 2 grandchildren now (my parents' great niece and nephew). We see so much of my aunt in those kids. Being around them is a sweet reminder of her for everyone. It's just mind-boggling to me to cut people out just b/c the blood relative passed away.

I'm so sorry that he, and you, are going through that jewels. It's so frustrating and mind blowing because it wouldn't even cross my mind to abandon someone when they need family the most, nevermind actually go through with it. How do they sleep at night thinking that they're good people? How are you going to go to the grave thinking, 'wow, I'm a good person and had a great life, I made use of my time on earth being kind to others'? I dont get it.

Exactly vino. I'm not even close to my brother, but if god forbid something happened to him, I would triple down on my relationship with those kids. I would be the best link to their father, stories about his childhood, etc.

MH has so many unanswered questions about his mom's side of the family and even about his childhood since he was so young. I just don't get it.

I’m late to the posts today, but I agree with the others, vino. I’d go solo and then decide on lunch. You have a strong healthy out look about this. What drama.

My car is a wreck. It is completely antithetical to how I keep my house. I don’t know why. I keep books in one bag, snacks in another, and I keep a trash basket, but it’s just not organized or as clean as I’d like.

Josie doesn’t buy, and time is one of the factors for that. She said they don’t have time to chit chat during lunch. That’s disappointing to me. They have a 40 minute period for lunch and recess.

guster, ours is 40 minutes for recess followed by 20 minutes for lunch. It does seem quick to purchase and eat in that short a time span.

Hi loves, just popping my head in.

X is having dyspraxia issues and falling down a lot. He twisted his ankle twice this week. His teachers are having a really hard time changing his diapers.

klong11 Pipsqueak is not doing well. I have to assist feed him three times a day. He’s in observation at the vet’s until Monday. I’m hopeful, but not terribly optimistic.

Sorry I haven’t been around, it’s been nuts ever since I got back from the hospital. It’s been quite the adventure trying to coordinate my visits to wound care.

Hope everyone is well and I think I should be able to catch up here in the next few days. Love and miss you all.

vino agree with PP’s that I would probably do the ceremony but skip out on other festivities or not commit to them until you arrive and get a sense of how smoothly things will go. Definitely no to bringing the kids around that nonsense.

Sorry for the family drama turning what should be a nice occasion o to something that causes stress.

I worked ten hours and then we went to see one of the Central Park Five do a talk at one of the colleges. It was really good but my neck is dead. I had to have dh take my shirt off. It was pathetic. Luckily we don’t have much this weekend so I’m planning to rest. We do have date night tomorrow but I’ll be fine for dinner.
