joelies , inthekitty , guster , I don't care about turning 40. I know some people might but, to me, it's just another year. I've never been one to make a big deal out of birthdays though. I turned 40 while I was 1198374 months pregnant with S. I told MH I wanted to just have dinner with him and maybe my BFF and her H at a local casual restaurant we all love. Nothing fancy. There was so much going on at the time, and my shower was in a few weeks, then I'd be having the baby, so I hated the idea of making people "do" stuff for me so many times. He threw me a surprise party. Which was nice, in theory. But 100% what I did not want. At all. AND he invited the weirdest grouping of people. And it was at the restaurant I said we'd eat at which doesn't have a private room so it was like a big long table in the middle of the restaurant. With my boss, a few of my good friends, and a handful of other people that he decided to invite. It was super awkward. I wish he had just listened to what I told him I wanted! Men never listen!

So as a follow up to tgrimes stupid thing yesterday, here's my stupid thing. Remember how I was looking for a place to vacation? Well my parents have a time share that they are selling this year. So it's the last year we can use it. You can log into it to see trading availability and I was logging in daily to see if one of the places I wanted was available for the week we are going, and had been having no luck. Last week, I log in and find our first choice available. I know from experience they go fast. So I quickly check flights and see they are not bad. I call MH and he says go for it. But I have to go into a meeting at that moment. I come back 30 minutes later and everything timed out. I reenter the info and woo hoo!! It's all available. I book super fast and book all 4 flights. The next day I'm looking at the confirmations and I realize I booked the Time share from Friday - Friday and the flights from Saturday to Saturday..

What a fun surprise tgrimes, happy birthday weekend!! Enjoy the family time nam2013, glad your DS hasn't gotten worse. Evvvvvery now and then my H will procrastinate on something like that guster. Not usually work related--probably tends toward house/yard--but something that is relatively simple that will take all of a few minutes to do. Like, quit talking about it and just do it!

Never! Also, where is that spirit now? He totally missed Mother's day this year, and it's been eons since he got me a gift I didn't pick out for myself (which I guess is a good thing since at least I get what I want!

jewels Oh no! Re: the flights/trip. Can you reschedule the flights easily enough? no - we decided on Hilton Head and apparently they only fly in and out of that airport from my local airport on Saturdays! We could fly into Savannah and drive there (it's like an hour) but the flights were way more expensive and not at good times. The time share does offer Sat - Sat weeks so I reached out to them to see if they can change it - so far no luck. Worse case we will just get a hotel somewhere for the last night, since we basically got a condo for the week for like $250 nam2013 too

It will work out. jewels That price for the week is unreal. It will be fun! I need to get on my mom this weekend about booking our beach trip. Also, speaking of procrastinating... I’ve been putting off making calls for the house work I need done. I called the electrician yesterday so I can get that done. Next up is the paint. Since we sold my car, I want to use that money to get most of what I want done. I also need to go look at countertops and schedule people to come out to give me quotes. Seems easy, but I just don’t want to deal at the moment.

lahdeedah, we traded my parents' time share for it, so the cost is the cost of the trade, plus the cost to renew their lapsed membership in order to do the trade. We get a 2 bedroom condo with a balcony and full kitchen at a resort with 2 pools and other stuff to do. I am super bummed they are selling it, I've used it a bunch but my parents rarely do so I get it.

lahdeedah Do you know who you want to do your countertops already? We used Home Depot and were happy with that part of the work done. I would recommend them. Re birthdays 40 didn't effect me. For some reason, 42 did. Enjoy your time with your siste tgrimes!

My sister flew in to surprise me last night. I knew she'd come, because I did it for her 40th but I figured she'd come tonight or tomorrow. The kids were so excited to see her. She helped me get them ready this morning and she made me go to work. She said she brought papers to grade and lesson plans to do. I'll take tomorrow off to hang out with her though. Woo hoo, fun! Have a great time!

Also, hi! Busy day here; got the kids off then I ran some errands before getting C at 1. Now we're home waiting on B and it's SNOWING. The thick, wet kind. Blurgh. DH swears it's not going to accumulate but that is not what the forecast is saying. Speaking of cold, wouldn't you know it, it's going to be chilly down in FL while we're there, but the heavy/wintry stuff we wear up here just doesn't look right there this time of year. Yes, #FWP. I found some really cute things for C but they were out of a couple sizes so bought what I could and planned to order the rest online, but of course they're sold out in literally just her size. Argh. Back to the drawing board. At pick-up C's teacher asked about our plans for next year b/c the 5 day 3's teacher loves C and wondered if she would 'get' her in the fall. Warmed my little cold dark heart. So funny... C is currently bossing me around as we play a matching game. I'm glad she's perfect for her teachers

You have the least cold dark heart around here flamingo! That’s really sweet. How fun tgrimes! You need this time for you. inthekitty my mom got a horse when I was 11 and we lived in the Midwest where everything is cheaper. Two years later when we moved to CT my dad built a barn in our yard (2 acres) since it would be less than boarding. Horses are really expensive but it was a cool experience for me. I lost interest in high school after the fvckr bit me on the butt!

PT went well. He said I have two pinched nerves and it’s a mess. Literal quote. He also said that I have impressively bad posture. He was really nice and I was ok with his frankness especially after he took my picture sitting and measured the angles against what is normal. Yikes!
He stretched my neck, gave me exercises, and told me to focus on posture. He wants to see me weekly for about six weeks.

I looked at the samples in store a while back and nothing jumped out at me, but I wasn’t seriously looking then. I just asked a girl here at the new job. She does realty on the side and had a house Reno’d last year and she says her boyfriend does work and have a company. I’m not sure about using him because you know how that goes if the work isn’t great, but I may at least give him a chance to quote and feel him out.

Time to get one of those posture correctors I’ve been seeing on the Amazon deals page. Lol

Glad to hear it went well, wedding! Yahhooo for a trip, jewels! Nice price, too. My parents had a time share and those trades were how we did a lot of spring break trips my senior year of high school and through college. M and I sold off two of the weeks when I inherited them , but we kept one in the Catskills in July. We might actually use it this year!

When I was little it was a lot like that. Then they took a few years back from it but now they’re trying to bring that heyday back to life. Daily schedules, bingo at four, big ridiculous dinners and entertainers at night. It’s all scaled down a little bit now but it used to be quite the spectacle.

tgrimes, I’m a little more than half way through The Stranger. It’s so intense. I’m having a hard time piecing it all together, so it certainly has me hooked! ETA: literally just figured something out! Exciting!
