Cadence rarely watches tv, when she does she picks Christmas movies. Her favorite is still the most recent Grinch movie. She likes youtube videos like Trinity and Madison, which is 2 sisters who open toys with their Dad and do challenges and something about their neighbor, "hello neighbor" or something. She has also started watching hack videos. Her favorite seems to be how to turn makeup into school supplies...making lipstick into a pen, eyeshadow palette into a hidden calculator. idk, it's weird.
Books she has varying tastes, we still like reading Junie B. Jones, Ivy & Bean, and Heidi Hecklbeck chapter books, and she "reads" Dr. Seuss with mh because he thinks she is legit reading them, when in fact she has them memorized.
Toys: she's still into LOL, but pretty much likes anything that she can create families and build rooms for and make little neighborhoods. Don't ask her to clean them up, though, because they are ALL being played with and the setup cannot be disturbed.
She loves swimming and says she wants to race when she is older, she wants to be done with hip hop & jazz, but stick with ballet, and she'll be starting violin this summer.

M still loves: barbies, the doll house, her baby dolls, coloring, reading, riding her bike, LOLs
New interests: math, The Descendants, watching real movies instead of just animated ones like The Pacifier, Game Plan, The Princess Diaries, Dora movie
Youtube series: The Beach House family, A is for Adley, makeup videos
She also has a coloring app on her kindle that she loves.

M likes to draw and write. He is always writing or doodling and crafting. He will sometimes do these how to draw videos on YouTube and I’m legit surprised at the way it comes out for a 6 year old.
He loves sports. Baseball again this spring. He watches football and basketball with MH, too and is always pretending to play the sport when he does. He also likes to go outside to play with all the sporting equipment and balls.
He likes math and, of course, writing at school. He gets the math love from Mh, because I always disliked math.
He likes watching Jessie on Disney+ right now. His main Netflix shows are Spirit and Miraculous Ladybug, but he hasn’t been watching those as much lately. I can’t think of the names of YouTube shows he likes.
He plays with a lot of different stuff inside, but he is usually always lining cars/things with wheels up and connecting them with whatever string/rope/belts he can find to make a train-like figure.

But my kid knows absolutely nothing about sports. Like can’t even identify most, which kills my H Mostly it is all dinosaurs all the time over here. Watching Jurassic World movies, doing JW LEGO sets, drawing dinosaurs, battling toy dinosaurs, pretending to be dinosaurs, and on and on and f-ing on

Ds still loves his wooden animals. He builds mega zoo throughout the living room with blocks, kapla and the wooden rainbow we have. He has started to make signs to put out at the exhibits. He loves animals and he can tell you a lot about them, in particular about Okapis which are his favourite animals, he even knows which zoo’s in Europe have okapis.
He also likes to play games. He also loves to play outsides and build with planks, sticks, stones etc and to ride his bike. He also loves to play the drums with Dh, it’s their thing, which is cute. He loves baseball too, he was highly annoyed about the mookie trade last week ‘mom that their best player, what are they thinking?!’. ‘Reading’ is a favourite pastime too.
New interests; He likes to draw (Finally).
He goes to school every day and is almost always motivated to go, even tough some activities are not his favourite to say the least.
He likes to watch any show about zoos or animals, he also likes storybots, pat&mat, postman Pat and some Dutch shows.

Josie loves crafts, music, doing anything outside, and books. Tap is her only extra curricular ‘til soccer starts. She really absorbs what her teacher focuses on. He calls her “dynamo” and says she reminds him of the kids on the Little Rascals. I am assuming those are compliments bc I don’t get to watch class. She likes to practice, but I don’t like the tap shoes in the house. Her teacher said we could just get one of those foam alphabet letter maps and put a piece of plywood over it and she could use that as a practice space. Seems like a nice easy fix if this keeps up. She’ll play pretend anything with Charlie— school seems to be her favorite bc she’s in charge, but family, restaurant, museum, town, circus, concert, vacation are all high contenders. It all ends in some kind of performance/exhibit we have to see. No movies, still. Xavier Riddle, Nature Cat, and, Peg Plus Cat are perennial favorites, and lately we’ve been moving into other shows like The Inbestigators. Together, we watch Brainchild, The Masked Singer, and The GBBO.

S loves building/creating etc. Legos, "work" with dad, anything. His favorite toys are his Beyblades and he has more than I can count.
He also loves numbers (he keeps a calculator in the car so he can do math) and reading/writing. He prefers to read nonfiction (favorites are the National Geographic books about Earth, Animals, weather, etc.). He's been really into writing little stories or notes to us too.
Lately he's been on a card game kick and his favorites are Uno, Go Fish and math war.
Of course TV/Tablet, and his favorites to watch are BeyBlades (mostly other kids battling), Miles from Tomorrowland, and any HGTV or kids cooking show. Other shows/movies come and go but those are the staples. He likes to be in charge of the TV and put B's shows on for him too (which thankfully they like most of the same stuff).
He's not that into crafting (probably b/c I am not) but does enjoy coloring occasionally. He loves running around and playing on his scooter.

L is still obsessed with all things pirates 🏴☠️ And enjoys playing with the Frozen toys as well. Apparently Elsa likes to be a captain on one of his pirate ships and fight Captain Hook.
He has enjoyed watching Gummi Bears, Doc McStuffins (toy hospital ones only), Jake and the Neverland Pirates, and Elena on Disney+
On Netflix he watches The Deep cartoon series
He loves to draw and create things. He’s been “inventing” things with his toys after drawing the plans for them.
He likes playing in the toy kitchen we have.
He will be doing swim lessons again soon as well.

Cadence loves drawing too. I've told y'all this before, she'll put a sticker on a paper and then draw an environment around it. Mostly houses or stores. It's pretty interesting to hear her as she draws and tells a story as she goes.

jewels Yes about the Legos. I forgot about those because I recently put them away for a little. I need to find storage for them because when they are out, they end up everywhere. He likes building with them when he is not lining up/connecting cars and wagons and what not.

lahdeedah, we have this that we keep random generic legos in and we use leftover jars for things like wheels and bodies like thisThe sets that he wants to keep together go in a ziplock with the instructions. But truthfully most of them remain built and on display.

Building and creating are B's current big interests. Forts, crafts/projects, LEGOs. Drawing is another big one; he has a drawing how-to book he enjoys using. He still likes dinos and cars but those have moved down the ladder a bit. Loves Star Wars LEGO. Any sort of game...Battleship is a favorite atm.
He's a big non-fiction reader and enjoys history and science. Historic natural disasters are basically his ideal, lol. He seemed to love the unit for President's Day...came home with all sorts of facts and stories about Lincoln & GW.
Sports...golf and basketball are favorites. He's trying t-ball again this spring. He's a very competent swimmer and we may try swim team, but I have a feeling he likes swimming more recreationally than as a 'sport'. The scooter and bike are still very popular.
TV...HGTV and Wheel of Fortune, lol. Looney Toons/old Tom & Jerry cartoons. America's Funniest Home Videos. Star Wars & Jurassic Park movies.
We actually recently removed the YouTube apps from the TVs. I didn't like how addictive it seemed for our kids; turning it off became a battle royale and they seemed to fight more about what to watch, etc. They went thru 'withdrawal' symptoms for the first couple days but don't ask about it much anymore and are happy again with NickJr/Disney+. Our house is a lot more peaceful now.

MH was so confused, like how do you even know who he is??? Ha, I love it! Have y'all discovered the "What Was" (or "Who Was...") series of books? B loves them so as a fellow non-fiction reader maybe S would, too. We just finished one about the Bermuda Triangle that was a hit--B was literally begging for more chapters each night. eta: I say 'chapters' but you could read the whole thing aloud in a night or two, and there are enough illustrations, and in some cases photographs, to keep them interested.

The instructor that she’s working with was pretty big on Broadway for a while and has a real way with kids so it’s neat to watch her start to dig into this!

I think once the excitement of him being able to read wears off we will be back to reading to him some of the time.

Sports: skateboarding, football, soccer, ice skating, baseball, basketball, swimming, running, biking, and now he loves snowboarding.
School: Subject: Math Special: Phys Ed
Color: blue
TV show: right now Muppet Babies or the Mandelorian (Star Wars). Those couldn't be more different!
Song: Lizzo- Good as hell and Lil Nas X- Panini
Toys: cars of any kind, finger skateboards, and army guys
Books: He is on a military kick right now and weekly brings home books about different branches of the Armed Forces.
Other: He loves to dance. Last night at karate he was dancing around at the end and I thought he had to go to the bathroom. He came over and said "what?" and I asked him if he needed to go. He says "No, I was dancing. You told me if I feel like dancing, dance. So I did."
He knows too much about politics and has a lot of interest in it now. Like he regularly asks whats going on with Trump or if you ask what he wants to talk about he says "politics". I blame DH for that one.
He hates regular pants and only wears joggers or athletic pants. Somehow he has become brand conscious and has a strong preference for Nike or Adidas clothing. He also does not like to wear any character shirts at all. Currently he wants a paid or DC shoes that he calls skater shoes. Maybe when he grows out of the Adidas high tops he just had to have!
He stopped wearing pajamas and will only sleep in his underpants. He dislikes them so much that he doesn't participate in pajama day.
He has his very first official crush. As you know, he has had many girlfriends but I think they more flocked to him. This girl is different to him for some reason. Seems nice and no kissing or love notes have been exchanged.

Colin is really into sports - baseball, football, basketball, skiing especially - and watching the odds on ESPN. I mean, he is learning about percentages so it's great I guess? Haha. He will also watch random sports on TV and get really wrapped up in it. While we were in VT, DH's uncle was watching some track and field and Col got super into it, racing around the condo with his pj pants hiked up. He loves reading and is super competitve about what level his classmates are on for this reading app they use. Math still comes naturally but if you ask him, phys ed is forever his favorite. And his friend Mikey. He continues to want nothing to do with girls but he's learned how to be nicer about it, thankfully. Like wedding's C, he still wants to wear soft pants all the time. We had him wearing cargo pants 3 times a week last year but it was a constant battle, so we're down to twice a week this year, and he doesn't fight us at all. He doesn't really care what his clothes look like though, just that they are comfortable. I can respect that. He's also internalizing the idea of being a good kid, perhaps taking it too far. Basically he hears DH and I talking to Chase about all his naughty notes and DH will remind Chase of how well behaved Colin is at school. My concern is that he's a kid, he's going to mess up here and there. I'm concerned about how he'll cope when he's taking being "the good one" as a central part of his identity. I've talked to DH about making sure the boys don't develop those one dimensional identities and he gets it when you spell it out, but putting it into practie proves far more difficult.

These are great! And wedding, I love that not only did you tell C that if he felt like dancing, he should, but also that he retained that message and is doing it! Add Maggie to the Soft Pants Only Club. She's been like this her whole life. I thought when she got to school and made new friends who wear jeans, she'd give in, but no. I even bought her some from Target that had unicorns or flowers embroidered on them and she fought me to even try them on and then kept them on for less than 10 seconds. She LOVES to read and is really good at it. Together, as a family, we've been working our way through the Magic Treehouse books, which are really fun and interesting. Our neighbor gave us about 30 old Berenstain Bears books over Christmas, so we read A LOT of those, but I don't always like their messages. Every week she comes home from Library day at school with a new book, usually something in the Pinkalicious oeuvre Paw Patrol and Peppa are still in heavy rotation around here, although Benjamin is really the PP driver. Lately, they've been into Team Umizoomi, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Wallykazzam. We are also really into American Ninja Warrior and especially now that there's a kids' version, she loves to pretend she's on the show. Maggie has asked to watch the Harry Potter movies, so we've watched the first two, although she asked me to turn the second one off halfway because she was scared. She's really into Star Wars as well because it seems like DH constantly has one on while he's doing laundry on the weekends. As for music, the Frozen 2 soundtrack is her favorite, but she learns some popular music from friends at school - she loves to sing Old Town Road, even though we've asked her not to, and the other day, out of nowhere, she busted out Drake's In My Feelings. I'm still dead from hearing her sing "Kiki, do you love me?" She's really into crafty things at the moment - at her afterschool program, she is learning all kinds of ways to make bracelets and stuff, and at home we do sun catcher kits, or make slime, or use cardboard boxes to make race cars and stuff (she recently moved up from her convertible carseat, so we had two new huge boxes to play with). The other really big thing in our house is games. We have a billion board games and card games. Some favorites are Mancala (which she learned in her afterschool program and we then bought for home), Outfoxed, Uno, Go Fish, Connect Four, the Busytown Eye Found It game, and Slips and Ladders (a version of Chutes and Ladders - which we also have - that my mom gave them for Christmas; it goes so much faster than the traditional game, and it's amazing quality).

Add us to the soft pants club. For a while I Was forcing him to wear pants or jeans at least once a week but I've pretty much stopped the fight. I might start again after next week (next week they have special things for Dr. Seuss week all week)
Also I forgot my BIL taught S how to play Chess this summer and we got him a chess/checkers/backgammon set and he loves to play all 3.

Also on Team soft pants.
Dude is still really into wrestling. Strictly from the 80’s and 90’s. He has a few dozen of Pete’s old figures and sets up really elaborate survivor series matches. He re-enacts them *exactly* how they aired.
He likes reading, going to the park, he’s good at monkey bars and the Rock walls. He likes telling time and doing math. Crafts, geography, all things related to astronomy.
He’s pretty much living on apples and bagels with cream cheese lately.
