Hi everyone! I met some of you over in the pregnancy and toddlers thread at the politics forum, and I was wondering if I could join you guys here? Some info on me: I'm 18w6d, expecting a little boy on Oct 20th. I have a 2 year old DS who is a total goofball. DH, myself, and DS live in Southeast Asia - DS was born here, but we're all Americans. I have a high risk pregnancy due to a predisposition for PPROM and a large Sch, so I've been on bedrest since late March. Bedrest sucks. I also have a loss/IF history....so all that combined had made me kind of hesitant to intro on O17 at the other place. I guess I just didn't want to jinx this pregnancy or something irrational like that. Oh - and we just discovered a book lice infestation in DS' room 2 days ago, so we're in the process of frantically moving to a temporary apartment while they fumigate our unit. Dealing that while on bedrest is...not fun. For some happy stuff (I just realized this post was veering towards Debbie Downer territory), I love chic chip cookie dough, reading, traveling, and trying all types of new food! What brought you all to Southeast Asia?
I hope the lice infestation gets cleared up soon.
I was on bed rest for my last pregnancy, but only for a few weeks. I couldn't imagine having to do it for more than half the pregnancy.

Glad you are joining us, Taitai! I saw you over in Pregnancy here and was going to ask you to come visit us, but I remembered you posting about being anxious because of your loss/IF history and I didn't want to seem pushy. Welcome! Also, now I think I need to go to a local bakery that sells edible cookie dough made with pasteurized eggs. Because that stuff is amazing. |

rebeccabunch They are horrible. They are these little bugs (they are so small people mistake them for dust sometimes), that like to live in damp/humid areas. They are pretty common in the country where we live - I had not heard of them before moving here. They love to eat paper products, esp books! Hence, the name. They are so fragile and basically disintegrate when you touch them, so they are pretty easy to kill. But they multiply and spread like crazy, so it's hard to keep them in check and eradicate. They also don't bite, spread disease, or infect people/animals...however, they can be tough to get rid of since they live in walls and under floors with water damage. A water pipe broke in our building last month, and that's what we think caused them to get into our unit. I hope you never have to deal with them! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Welcome! Glad you decided to join us. Whereabouts in SEA are you if you're so inclined to divulge? I was born and grew up there. I have all the sads now that I am thinking I've now lived outside of my country much longer than I've lived there.
