Be my compass N13. My SIL had to say goodbye to her dog yesterday, she's had him since he was a puppy and he was about 13 yo. I imagine she is a mess. Would it be weird to send flowers? I want to do something. I think that would be thoughtful. +1 that is really sweet.

So exciting trtlcrzy! Can’t wait to hear! I’m thinking it’s going to be another girl! vino sorry J is still under the weather. S is back to school today and I am feeling slightly more human like. MH has been lucky enough to escape it. This weekend we are going to STL to celebrate my grandparents 70th wedding anniversary. They are the cutest little old couple. And I’m looking forward to seeing all the family.

flamingo , congrats to B (and you)! trtlcrzy how exciting! Good luck today. I'm thinking boy. vino I hope your boy feels better soon. And I think the flowers or some recognition of your SiL's loss would be very thoughtful. tgrimes that's frustrating. I hope the doctors consult with each other and come up with a unified plan.

tgrimes, I need all of his drs to set up a meeting where they all get together and brainstorm over his case. Maybe you should email them all in one email and ask them to discuss, since they all seem to think something different. I can't imagine how frustrated you must be with all of this.

Just work, work, work here.
I've mentioned before the total bitch at my TKD studio. She was totally out of line and started yelling at me in class the other night. I skipped last night because I didn't want to see her bitch face. Few people in my adult life have stirred up the desire to physically react to them. She's in her mid-40s and has the maturity of a middle school aged girl. I've decided if she ever attempts to yell at me again I'll immediately call her out and walk away. If the director of the program doesn't have any balls to correct her he can grow some soon or lose the biggest family in his program.

Morning! Thanks but no thanks to all the snow, I guess I shouldn't complain about our cold and rain too much I'm just so tired of the grey. C had a rough night, she was up from 3 to almost 6 for no real reason. DH dealt with it, bless him. So I'm foreseeing a nap in her future. I stayed up too late reading so maybe I can take one, too? Ha We just had speech and I'm going to make 'brunch' of pancakes and sausage real quick before sending B off to school. Oh, good news--B *should* graduate speech by the time we move! We are working on the last sound now, TH, and then we'll be freeeeeeee! Have a good day, everyone! The other night M was reading a Dr. Seuss book and he still uses either an F or D for th- sounds. I was trying to show him how to make the sounds because they are working on double letter sounds in school and he was not happy about it. It was late and I’m sure he was just tired so I may try to see if he can practice it earlier in the day. He doesn’t like to think he is doing something wrong, and I was making like it was no big deal, but I didn’t want him to get down about it. You can always try practicing in front of a mirror, that seems to be what helps B the most when he’s having a hard time understanding how to form a sound. B is inconsistent on Th...it’s somewhere b/n an F & TH, lol. A lot of it is practice/muscle memory, so I think it’ll probably improve naturally for M (and B) as there are so many sight words with that sound and in the early reader books they work with. If you’re aware and can help gently correct him, that’s half the battle IMO. I asked about R sounds this morning and our SLP said that it’s a later developing sound for boys, especially...they give them til 8/8.5 to master it. So I think a lot of these things will kind of work themselves out with time.

vino is your SIL a drinker? If so, I'd get a bottle of wine and go spend time with her. I remember when I had Luna put down, I just wanted someone to cry with. Flowers are thoughtful, but being able to talk would have been helpful.

She is a drinker (in fact she drinks us out of Vodka when she's at my house) and I would love to be with her right now, but she is in another province so flowers might be my only option

Anyone doing anything for Valentine's Day? I was on top of it this year and got a few little things for the girls (Walmart had doll carriers for $5 and a magnetic car game) and Reese's hearts for MH. We always keep it simple. We'll be driving down to OR that evening so we might have a fine dining experience at Burgerville (if you ever make it to the NW it's the best). I have the day off so I'm looking forward to getting an early start on the drive. My mom will probably watch the kids so we can go out SAT night.

inthekitty It's amazing that the biotch from the studio is allowed to continue to act like a child. She sounds super toxic and the irony of the location that she's being combative with her words is not lost on anyone I'm sure. I'm sorry, I hope she is dealt with because that studio sounds like it's been a great for your whole family. In the meantime, shall we send glitter to kick things off?

I'm at work and my student is busy with other things (YESSS!), so I'm just planning my parent's 40th anniversary getaway! Fun! What are you planning? We rented a big cabin for a weekend for my parents, sisters and their husbands. Going to cook some nice meals, play games, go to the local brewery, drink, relax, ect!

RE: Valentine's Day, it's such a fun holiday to me...breaks up the winter nicely. I'm making muffins and put them in V-day paper wrappers for breakfast on Friday. I do give the kids small gifts, and sent new books to my niece and nephew. My mom and sister send them stuff, too.
We still need to make our red velvet cookies!
DH and I normally don't exchange gifts but I did email a link for new pj's since I didn't get any at Christmas, ha. I might get him a new bourbon to try. We are staying in and he's going to do filets and twice baked potatoes. I got ingredients for a keylime pie (random, but we both love it) so I'll make that for dessert.

I'll still do things with the kids, they decorated their bedroom doors the other day and we'll go out for heart shaped pizza on Friday night.

I'm sorry, I hope she is dealt with because that studio sounds like it's been a great for your whole family. In the meantime, shall we send glitter to kick things off? It's so annoying. It's supposed to be my place to unwind and relax and it's been a cluster ever since the former instructor left last summer. We're sticking with it through the fall, but will reevaluate then. She's an absolute shit-stirrer who kisses ass to so many people who are completely oblivious to what an asshole she is. I have no idea why, but so many people turn a blind eye when she is super nasty to her own daughter. The mom hates to spar because she's a bully and doesn't like to fight anyone she knows she can't beat (aka me, so she constantly argues and tries to say I'm doing things against the rules--no I'm 5 inches taller than you, 50 lbs heavier, and 10 years younger so you don't stand a chance, so instead of being a crazy bitch and trying to hit me as hard as you can just have fun with it and relax). Occasionally when she does spar she makes sure she's partnered up with her daughter who's very thin and probably doesn't even weigh 100 lbs. Her daughter is also timid and dislikes sparring. She wails away and kicks and punches at her daughter, but if her daughter ever kicks back and makes good contact she screams at her. The abusive dynamic is toxic and the irony that this is occurring at a martial arts studio where respect should be the main focus is not lost on me. I don't say this glibly, but I truly feel bad for her kid. It's got to be awful to have such a controlling bitch for a mother. I hope that someday she moves far away for college and gets out of her mother's clutches.
