At bedtime, Dude asked me to dance with him to “What a Wonderful World,” (I had no idea he knew that song), then told me “I’ll love you for infinity years and when you die, I will turn your bones to dust, and put them in a special pretty box, and kiss them every night.” That wasn’t weird at all. There’s a wonderful picture book made on this song, I have a hard time keeping it together when reading this with the kids... www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0192736906/ref=tmm_hrd_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1579765888&sr=8-3ETA you reminded me of it, I’m reading it tonight.

klong11 I’m reading a book for school about crucial conversations. I can send her a copy. It’s all about how to have important conversations without making the other person feel bad. I took a two day course around this book, (Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes Are High by McGraw-Hill) it's really great and use it in both my personal and professional life.

mamabear while I haven’t had a kid at a camp that goes swimming, I do see them at the pool during the summer. Usually we are in the baby pool so it’s younger kids, but the staff (usually there’s like 3-4 of them) are all in the pool walking around and watching the kids. Plus the lifeguard is another safety thing. I wouldn’t be super worried about it, they have a lot of experience with taking groups of kids to pools. Also, as another layer of safety, all the kids wear a bright colored T-shirt with their school’s name while they are at the pool. joelies congrats on the great review!

The camps that I've signed up for that have swimming test the kids the first day and they are only allowed in their designated level areas after that. And I've signed her up for 2 different weeks there, and they test them the first day of each week, even if they already tested previously. I'm ok with that.

Amazing cagoldi, he is awesome. Also, how are you feeling? Did the pain subside? Mostly, yes. I read if it is kidney stones, it’s best to be active to help them pass. So I ran my ass off on the treadmill yesterday morning and today. I figured I might get better, or I might die. 🤷♀️ But I survived so s’all good.

Congrats joelies! As to swimming/field trips. S day care did field trips so he's been on a ton so that doesn't bother me. His camp does swimming daily but it's at their own pool so no other kids there, and like klong11 said they test the kids and don't let them out of their designated areas and give them floaties etc. Last summer he went from barely being able to stay afloat to swimming across the pool, so I'm happy they have it.

My only concerns as far as field trips go, is distance. Cadence gets car sick very easily, so it has to be within a certain mileage. Bumpy bus rides are worse than cars for her.

This is a very understandable concern. Do any anti-nasuea (I tried like 8 times and can't seem to spell it so I am leaving that obviously misspelled word there) meds work for her?

We've got it under control in the car. Longer trips she uses her tablet so she can focus on that rather than movement outside her window. I figured field trips would be fine since they are all within city limits, but apparently that isn't the case.
I may have to look into medications for it. She did well on yesterday's afterschool program's trip to the jumpy place, so hopefully it was just the bus driver on the last trip. The teacher said they were heavy on the brakes, so it was a very bumpy ride!

Gotchya - I hope she does ok. That would have me worried too.

I get carsick if I’m not driving. I wear the sea bands, and they do help a lot. If I know I have to go on a bus for a field trip, I do take a nondrowsy Dramamine.

My kids get car sick every now and again, I’m always on hyper alert when driving. We were hopeful that it would stop when she went forward facing, but it got worse. So I tried various activities, books, etc. and it seems because they are stationary and not moving, it didn't help. With the tablet, the images are moving directly in front of her, so the side movement out the window doesn't affect her. It's weird. I believe it is the opposite for most children, they need something stationary to look at.

Have you tried the seasick bands? We haven't. I may try them on our drive this summer down to the valley.
