Also, hi! Busy morning with the usual speech, etc. Now home with C and she is doing her best “Destructor” impression while I fill out NINE pages of basketball sign up paperwork (your federal government at work, folks!)
Re: camp, we don’t need full time care but I do know I want to get B, especially, signed up for some sessions. The neighborhood we are targeting offers golf camp and I think a day camp, and my old elementary school offers various camps as well. The school is private so the camps are a bit pricey but I don’t think it would be too bad for just a session or two. I like the idea of the neighborhood golf and day camp since he’d hopefully meet some kids!

That’s interesting, so it will be IN Children’s Place stores? We have one near us. The pic they show looks like ‘old’ Gymboree so if that holds true I’ll be happy. I loved their stuff for C. We shall see!

Also (I’m full of thoughts today, apparently!) inthekitty, I’m laughing at your formerly Scrooge husband getting excited about the Disney trip. My DH is...neutral about ours in March, I think he’s glad we can do it but this would not be his first choice for a vacation. I somehow added myself to a Disney trip planning group on FB and they call those people “Disney Downers”, which has me 😂😂. On another note, i have never seen the word “magical” used so freely by so many adults in one spot, as in this FB group.

The one thing I liked about Gymboree is the quality. Mostly everything I had for M has held up well and I still have it for M2. I’m curious to see if that will still hold true through the relaunch. I used to get a big haul during their after season sales. Will be watching.

If you go to Gymboree.com it has a listing of all the store-in-a-store locations that will be opening, otherwise online will be open this spring it looks like.

I desperately need a hair cut. I got a recommendation from the wife of a coach so I looked up the website and was glad to see that I could book an appointment online. So convenient. If I don’t get it done now, it will be March before I have days off during the week. I do not like going weekends.

Lolz, this will surprise no one, but I am a member of several of those groups (including military-specific ones--I'm assuming you booked a room with military discount and are getting the Salute tickets, the photo deal Memory Maker also has a military discount). Yes, they are filled with "magical" tidbits and the Disney Downers are usually the husbands. I think I need to buy myself a Baby Yoda shirt for the trip. Instead of working I'm making a spreadsheet of all the food I want to eat. #priorities, #hardatwork, #feedmeseymour

Has anyone started looking into summer camps and such for their N13s? Registration starts early February for most of them here. I don't want Cadence to go back to her old daycare, so instead I'm finding different day camps for each week that would be similar in cost. However, most are half day so I have to pay an extra 100/wk for extended care. C will go to where he goes now for after school but we are going to do a few weeks at the Y for different sports. I also want to do a week of zoo camp but damn its expensive for full day! There are some other great camps I would love to do but they are half day. Stinks.

klong11 I’m reading a book for school about crucial conversations. I can send her a copy. It’s all about how to have important conversations without making the other person feel bad.

So I was stressing yesterday and this morning because I’m reviewing a 7000+ device list comparing it to 3 other lists and it was suppose to be done today before I left at 200, no OT. So an impossible task. However I found some discrepancies that would save us some money so now I have until the end of next week to do it right. It’s slightly more work but it’s now doable.

L will do day camp at his school through the Y, who provide before and after care during the school year. Is anyone else a bit nervous about sending their kid to camp? L had never been one field trip yet and they do them every other week. They also go to either a community pool or spray park every week. I dont like the idea of either of these things, but I'm not sure what to do about it. Ours goes to the public pool each week...which is why we are starting continual swimming lessons until j is proficient, hopefully by the summer. Ours also does a different field trip each week, but he's gone on them before with his aftercare, so less worried about those.

I was nervous at first because the first one was with a group of strangers on his first day, but he had fun. The rest were at museums, parks, and a splash place. I’m not sure how I would feel about the pool situation. I would have lots of questions about lifeguards, staff, rules, protocols, etc.

He’s become a really great swimmer having that exposure. He actually doesn’t want to be in the pool there anymore because they won’t let him do his crazy jumps in 😐. I was nervous the first year but felt comfortable with who was in the pool with them (ratio of staff and lifeguards). This will be the first year for field trips and I’m excited more than anything. He’s done one in kindergarten and loved it. C is also a very independent and confident kid so the fact that he is comfortable with all these things makes me comfortable. Is the camp a brand new place for him/you? I could see being nervous not knowing the staff.

Col will go back to the camp at daycare. It's full-time, 5 days a week with 3 field trips a week for ~$325/week. Can't beat the convenience with Chase still there. Col went for 8 weeks last year and loved it and is happy to go back. I think in another year, we'll need to weave in some specialized (i.e., sports) camps here and there.

B is a good swimmer and the field trips mentioned in the programs I've looked at are fairly contained places (of the top of my head--a skating rink, children's theater production, a movie), so I don't really worry. In FL kids swim daily at a lot of (most?) camps, it would be hard to avoid swimming.

Also hi. Work has been busy but good. I just had my annual review yesterday and it's the best review I've had at this company - quite possibly my whole career. I won't find out about my bonus and raise for a few more weeks but given the adjustment I just got, it'll just be icing on the cake. It just feels so nice to be recognized and to have more pull and influence. Especially after such a stressful year!
In other news, we are having a rough time with Chase. He's been getting almost daily reports of not listening or repeating "not nice words" at daycare. He just laughs if you tell him to stop. His teacher admits that it's his group, they feed off each other in a way Colin's group just didn't. We're trying to de-incentivize bad behavior but to no avail yet.
Colin has always been so easy, I'm still so sorry it took so long to realize it!!

I've never done camps but with them being home with me, I'm going to look into a few to occupy them this summer. For my sanity lol. And they get so bored at home.

At bedtime, Dude asked me to dance with him to “What a Wonderful World,” (I had no idea he knew that song), then told me “I’ll love you for infinity years and when you die, I will turn your bones to dust, and put them in a special pretty box, and kiss them every night.”
That wasn’t weird at all.
