I'm guessing most of us have a lot of baby stuff already, but I thought I'd start a baby gear thread to discuss what we still need/are planning to get. This is also spurred by me reading the Lucie's List review of the new Mockingbird stroller, which looks awesome. I have a gazillion strollers already, but this thing sounds cool: www.lucieslist.com/review/mockingbird-stroller-review/Otherwise the only real piece of gear I need is a new swing. I burned out the motor on two of them with DS2 because he would sleep 10-12 hours straight per night at two months old if I let it slowly swing all night on the lowest level I plan to get the Fisher Price one again. We already ended up getting a new infant car seat with DS2 (because our original one was close to expiration) and a new bouncy seat because we had worn our other one out. What stuff do you all need/plan to get?

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is a new infant carseat, extra base and probably a new carseat for DD1 because I think hers is close to expiring. We also want to get a van and I suppose you could include that in baby gear. I’m waiting to find out the sex before I start going through baby clothes but regardless we will need to get new stuff because my other 2 are winter babies and fleece sleepers probably aren’t going to work this time. I still have all my baby wearing stuff from last time but I might get a couple new things, but that’s more of a want than a need.

I just ordered a new car seat and extra base because ours were expired. I went with Chicco again because DH needs to fit 3 car seats across the back of his Ford Focus and it’s one of the narrowest infant seats.
I also ordered a new bath tub because I wanted one that would fit in our kitchen sink. That’s all I really need for now. We have been team green with all our babies so I have a nice collection of newborn and 0-3 months neutral clothes.

I had to get so much stuff because a lot of what I have is either one thing, so I need a second set, or I need things that are specialized for twins.
I did not NEED a new one but I got the updated version of the baby brezza for Christmas which I am excited about.
We got one more infant seat plus 3 extra car seat bases since we only had the one infant seat/base. I also got two more extra free bases from a twin mom that was giving them away, so those can be for grandparents.
I was able to score a crazy discounted Halo Twin Bassinet that I would have never bought brand new so I am pumped about that.
I bought the "table for two" feeding system which is definitely a splurge purchase and not absolutely necessary but in my twin mom group so many people said it was amazing.
I also got the Weego Twin carrier for Christmas, and the Joovy Ro Twin stroller.

I just need a new infant carseat (and then a convertible about 6 months later), and a van to put it in . And my house to sell lol. I may also need a new crib mattress as well, but I haven't decided yet. It depends on when we buy DS2 his big boy bed (which depends on finances) and the shape of his mattress when that happens. We're most likely not setting up the crib right away so Im in no rush.

After 8 years I have absolutely no baby stuff from my kid, ha. So I need everything. I am trying to keep it pretty minimal because I think it’s too easy to overdo it on baby gear. Obviously we’ll need a travel system, crib, and I’m going to get a bedside sleeper, but other than that I don’t know. OH, I am 100% getting a glider this time though. I didn’t get one with my first and really regretted it.
And I will def need a carrier. I loved the ergo so I may get that one again.
And this is what happens, I say minimal, and then immediately think of a thousand more things I need/want, lol.

We need a car seat and I'd like to get a swing or something to put baby in during the day. I don't want to spend much on that because DS didn't like either the swing or bouncer - only being worn.
I think we got rid of the bathtub, so I suppose that's a big need too.

I got rid of itt and hadn't planned on getting a new one, however the childcare centre at the gym I worked at closed down shortly after I found out I was pregnant and they offered me one of the swinggs for free, so that's the only reason I have one. Mine much preferred being worn as well.

I’m not a big baby wearer. I think it’s because I have a super short torso. I’ve tried a whole bunch of different carrier types. I do love the k’tan for the ‘fourth trimester’ when baby is still kind of snuggled up in a ball. But once baby sits upright in the carrier if it’s supported by my hips, the baby’s head is like hitting my chin. I still have an ergo so I’ll try again with this baby and maybe it will be different.
My favorite piece of baby gear is a basic bouncer. I feel like it’s so easy to move around the house with me to the bathroom while I shower, on the counter while I cook, etc. I like the fisher price one - snugabunny

I like having the stroller to carry all my stuff so I use that if I can. But, if we are hanging out at the park where I need to run around I choose to baby wear. I also have a water ring sling that was amazing when DD2 was little. So much easier than trying to hold a slippery baby while chasing a toddler around. Oh and DD2 hated being in her infant seat if she wasn’t in a car moving so any time we went to target or the grocery store I would have to wear her (bonus: more room in the cart for groceries).

trtlcrzy I much prefer to have a stroller at the park so I can leave baby in it while I chase the toddler, rather than trying to corral a toddler with a baby attached to me

I always tend to have one (or more) of my carriers with me just in case.

I know I need a new changing pad because our old one got a rip in it. But it will be basic. I think we need a new monitor. I feel like ours was on its last legs and now it’s just been sitting in a drawer. So we’ll see if it works when I pull it out. I would like a new diaper bag because mine is old and oversized and over the shoulder. But not a priority.
My H is trying to convince me we need a new stroller and car seat. Im like, no buddy, let’s not just spend money and add junk to the environment because you like new things.

I still have the one from DS, but it's held together with a safety pin so I feel like I can justify a new one. We've never used a monitor before because our bedroom has always been really close to the nursery, but it's across the house in our current house. I'm trying to figure out where this baby is going to sleep. I've always put them in their own rooms pretty quickly (my kids snore from birth and everyone sleeps better this way), but it seems like it may not work as well in this house. I should probably talk to DH about it and see if he has ideas.

Am I the only one who doesn’t really use a diaper bag? I just have a giant everyday purse and then throw in a gallon ziplock with a couple diapers and wipes when I’m going somewhere with the baby/toddler. If I’m walking to the playground or something where I don’t need my purse, I transfer the ziplock to the stroller. My purse always has stuff like tissues and snacks. During the week I switch out the ziplock for laptop/work stuff. I guess during ML my nursing cover gets thrown in the purse too. Maybe I do have a diaper bag - it’s just my everyday purse too

It always had stuff like tissues and snacks. I basically ditched my purse until my youngest was over 2. I only used my purse when going to work, or if I didn’t have a kid with me. I am a SAHM and feel like, babies especially, need a lot of things on the go. Extra clothes for if they have a blow out, toys, diapers, wipes, creams, wet bag to put dirty clothes in, snacks, water bottle, etc. I always have a small pouch with my essentials in there too: chapstick, lotion, period supplies, extra hair ties, ibuprofen, bandaids.

Ugh I need so much. We gave so much away or got rid of it. We lived in a really tiny house for several years and had no storage so baby stuff had to go. I still have my ergo, a rock n play, a booster high chair thing that straps to regular chairs. My sister is using my baby clothes from DS1&DS2 for her kiddo who is nearly two and she is due again right before me. She is team green though so if this turns out to be the boy I think it is, idk if we’ll need to split up the infant cloths we both have until like 2-3 weeks before my c section. That is giving me major anxiety because no way is she going to feel up to splitting it after the baby is born. Sigh

Any chance you could split up the baby clothes now, and if one of you ends up with a girl then give it all to the other?

We do have some of the things we had bought for her, like a new changing pad and baby carrier, but we literally need everything else. I'm borrowing a swing, bouncer, sit-me-up, etc. from my sister so thankfully we don't need too many big things.
