Chief Justice Roberts is being sworn in today to preside over the trial.
How sympathetic to DT do you think he is going to be? I'm reading he is for broad executive authority like DT favors, but we know he has clashed with DT before when siding to omit the citizenship question for the census and that public disagreement he had in 2018 about "Obama" judges.

I think Roberts doesnt want his legacy tarnished by any shenanigans this admin has pulled. I think he'll be as fair a jurist as possible.

The House Sgt at Arms is leading the processional, they were pretty close behind him but now he's outpacing them.

I'm still over here holding out hope Roberts will excuse anyone who said they won't be an impartial juror but take the oath anyway. He won't, but God it would be SO SWEET.

Fun fact I lean toward tinfoil hatting and am convinced someone *cough Russia* is feeding Trump all the dirt on all the powerful people, which is part of the reason everyone is losing their backbones. This is why I could never do psych nursing. In clinical I always got sucked into their delusions and started believing them 😬

I TOTALLY buy into dirt being fed to someone. I dont think its 45 because he couldn't keep it to himself it he was locked down in a well with no wifi but yes there is compromont on high ranking people.

I pick Pence. He's been keeping a low profile, no? And he is smart enough to not put it on the Tweeters or give it to those who will.

I think Roberts actually does his best to be impartial. He actually respects the position he holds.
I still do not expect much from this though. The GOP overall are spineless cowards.

I think Roberts doesnt want his legacy tarnished by any shenanigans this admin has pulled. I think he'll be as fair a jurist as possible. Preet and Anne Milgram had a good take on this. Yes to all of those things, but he also knows that any of his rulings can be overruled by a vote and may also recognize that it's a political, not judicial, process. He doesn't sign an opinion, and may be fine with political resolution rather than making rulings that will be overturned. "He may not want to look utterly impotent in that way." So, yes he does care about his legacy, but he may not view his legacy as tarnished by what is meant to be a political process.

I can easily see Graham though - here's the dirt we have on you, keep everyone else in line with their dirt and we won't spill yours.

Kind of a beautiful moment highlighting this historic moment as Grassley shakes Roberts' hand and says, "And God bless ya"

Senators have been sworn in and are now being called forward, aphabetically, in groups of 4 to sign the oath book.

Kamala is in suffragette white Kristin Simina (I know I didn’t spell that right) is practically wearing a cape on her dress. Friggin A+ styling for today. And just to be clear I’m not trying to be superficial on the women’s clothing. I have a legitimate interest in workplace fashion because I’m a boring old lady and this is my life now.
