I didn't sleep well last night and am dragging this morning. Ugh that’s the worst. I hope you get some coffee in you. I have a head cold. It’s just annoying, so hopefully it doesn’t progress. I had a good weekend though, so it’s a good start to this week.

I had a good weekend though, so it’s a good start to this week. We had a good weekend too. Definitely wasn't as productive as I wanted to be, but it was nice to relax a little bit. H and I were supposed to have a date night the lay had to cancel due to his work. We ended up taking the girls for an early dinner just to get out of the house. 😊

I hope you can catch up on some rest tonight and are feeling better soon klw. I initially fell asleep just fine last night but got up to pee and was wide awake for like an hour. I have no idea why.

I got a call from my oldest’s school to pick her up. So we are home. I’m on the phone to try and get an appointment with the doctor. I have a feeling the strep is back. But it’s hard to tell.

I'm mostly fine now, just some intermittent, mild pain.
This weekend felt busy and rushed as always. Looking forward to sending the boys to daycare Monday and having the day off.

kam3100, I hope she’s feeling better soon! PennyCandy, hope your Monday was more relaxing than the rest of your weekend! Getting back into our schedule has been rough. Between the two weeks off for the holidays and an unplanned vacation last week, we’ve been off of it for three weeks. DS was happy to get back to school but catching him up on homework hasn’t been fun. And does anyone have any advice for naps? DD has always fought them somewhat but it’s gotten terrible recently. She’ll fight sleeping for about 20-30 minutes, sleep for about 20 minutes, and then start all over again. We’ve tried earlier and later naps, different people putting her down, and no white noise but so far nothing has worked.

bananas22, naps can be tricky. How is she at bedtime?

bananas22, naps can be tricky. How is she at bedtime? No real issues at bedtime. Sometimes she’ll fuss for a minute or two but then she sleeps all night until about 7am. We usually put her down around 7:30/8.

Anyone ever have a clogged duct? The whole top of my breast feels tender. I just slept like crap last night. Was freezing , then hot. But no fever on thermometer. I used a warm compress and then pumped while using the toothbrush on the area. Milk production seems normal for that side.

I would sit under the hot water in the shower and massage it and I would also express in the shower.

klw, yeah, sounds like a clogged duct. advil, hot compresses or hot baths, massaging with a massager or electric toothbrush, take lecithin supplements up to 4x a day, drink lots of liquids. have LO nurse on that side as much as possible. IME the pain should start to subside after a day or so. if it starts getting worse (more intense pain, red streaks) or if you develop a fever and chills, it's probably turned into mastitis and you should see your doctor for antibiotics. feel better soon!

I noticed the red streaks this morning so I called the doctor. Pain doesn't seem as bad, but I also took advil this morning.

My oldest went back to school yesterday. But I stayed hike from work because I had a fever. I went to the doctor and they diagnosed me with strep. They gave me a more powerful antibiotic.
I’m tired of being sick all the time, but this same thing happened last year in December/January.
Do you do any sort of extra steps in your home to keep sickness away? I feel like I need to up my game. I’m going to make the everyone wash hands as soon as they get home. I’m going to Lysol door knobs and wipe light switches and stuff like that. Is there anything else you do or recommend?

That can help a lot with illness and allergies. And definitely lots of Lysol over everything, often.

kam3100 I know it is wasteful, but when we are sick I tend to use paper towels when washing our hands in the bathroom. Extra washes of sheets, lysol. Don't forget to wipe seat belts, etc since those are touched all of the time. I also keep hand sanitizer in the car for when we leave a store. Have you replaced your toothbrushes

C is home today. He had a 100.5 fever when he got home last night and still had about that this morning. Since I'm off Thursdays it was an easy choice to keep him home. I just hope he is good for tomorrow.

I will look into vent cleaning. I assume that’s more than just vacuuming the vents...
We are getting our a/c and heater replaced in a few weeks so I will ask them about it. I’m not sure if the vents gets replaced or not.
We have replaced our toothbrushes multiples times much to the annoyance of dh.

Still like a 100-101 fever that responds well to meds here. He's definitely fussier but not unmanageable so I'm not thinking ear infection yet. He's pretty congested and coughy and actually threw up about midnight last night. That was fun and I've been awake since. 😭 there hasn't been any more and FX there isn't.

It would be a higher fever if he had the flu right? I'm wondering if I need to take him in for a flu test.

I’m not the best person to ask because I always take my kids in to the doctor if they have a fever. I’m crazy, but 99% of the time it’s something that needs antibiotics. If it’s the flu, the only thing that will help is tamiflu and I believe you have to start it within 48 hours of symptoms showing up. So for me, I’d take him in.

Well I ended up just being worried about his ears so we went in. Early ear infection, negative for flu. I'm glad I took him in so he can be started on abx.
