We don't go for our 18 month appointment until almost the end of March. She will be closer to 19 months then... vvvvvfee, How often are you nursing? I am still pumping some in the morning (which I hate, but have been doing less time each week to wean it) and bedtime.

klw, on work days, he usually nurses 1-2x in the morning, when i get home from work, and bedtime. on weekends he may fit in another 1-2 times during the day. he does still wake during the MOTN and would def nurse then but i won't nurse him in the MOTN anymore so my H comforts him. why are you still pumping in the AM- are you doing it at work?

Have you tried?

Have you tried? I could just do bedtime with the left side, but if I skip morning, my right is full and hard by 1:00ish. 🙄

We still nurse morning, nap and bedtime. I have skipped bedtime on nights when we’ve had our parents watch the kids and I was fine.
I SAH so it’s not a big deal but I wouldn’t mind weaning the morning session, only because it’s just one more extra thing to do on the morning while getting DS up and ready for school.
With DS I stopped bf at 10 months because supply so this is different. Any thoughts on the best way to do this? I really don’t see wanting to nurse past 2 so I’m also thinking about that.

cornflakegirl, RE weaning, it's easier as they get closer to 2 because they understand more (you can tell them, "now now, later") and their attention spans get longer so they can be more easily distracted by other things (like hopefully TV, hallelujah!). my general advice is to eliminate 1 session at a time, starting with her least favorite one. decide on a limit for length- the length of a song, or until you count up to a certain number. then when time is up, say "all done!" and cuddle with her. then begin shortening the countdown, or perhaps only nursing at that time every other day. but once you get down to a very short session, she will probably begin to lose interest on her own. when it comes down to the bedtime session, i'd definitely pass your DD off to your H and have him take over the bedtime routine-- or if LO is very attached to the bedtime session, maybe do shorter and shorter nursing each night and have your H do the rest of the routine, until eventually he takes over the whole thing (this, of course, can be temporary). warm WCM in a sippy cup + cuddles can be a good nursing substitute, especially before bed or nap.

She’s been a 3x per day nurser for a long time and never really asked to nurse at any other times of the day. I think the morning session is probably her least favorite so I think that one will be the easiest to drop. MH works late most nights so I pretty much do bedtime by myself so unfortunately he can’t help too much with that. I like your advice about cutting down the session slowly. She’s pretty easygoing so I don’t think it will be a problem. I’m having all these mixed emotions. I know I don’t want to continue with extending bf past the age of 2 but at the same time I’m feeling guilty if I’m the one that starts pushing weaning before she’s ready.

cornflakegirl, H can be pretty easy going too. She will stop nursing, sit up and try to pull me shirt down at night when she is done. We cuddle for a few minutes then I put her into her crib. I think I will miss it more then she will

I think I will miss it more then she will She’s a big cuddler. She will snuggle up with me before she nurses and just loves being close. I know that when she weans I will at least have that. My DS was not a big cuddler as a baby so when we stopped nursing I didn’t have that with him. It’s hard thinking about all this because she’s our last one and weaning makes this baby stage so finite.

PennyCandy yes, so much whining here. He's trying so hard to say what he wants but it's of course unintelligible so he does a lot of reaching out and whining.

Height: 32 inches
Weight: 23 lb 13.5 oz
Head Circumference: 47.8 cm
Toddler Likes and Dislikes: Likes watching 80s music videos on YouTube, dancing, doing things himself, living off of snacks, watching our dogs play. Dislikes when we turn off his music videos, being in his high chair with an actual meal in front of him, anyone other than him trying to brush his teeth, napping.
Your Toddler's Favorite Ways to Make a Mess: Taking everything out of any cabinet or container. He loves pulling receipts, pens, etc. out of my purse.
Questions? Any tips for dealing with nighttime head banging in the crib? Most nights, he will roll over to a corner of his crib and bang his head into the rails. I usually try to reposition him away from the corner, but he inevitably ends up in the corner again throughout the night. I am fine with him hitting his head on his mattress, but hate hearing him bang his head on the hard rails.

sasam, at this age you could definitely get crib bumpers if you wanted. or even put a firm pillow at the head of the crib.

She’s almost 21 months but 19m adjusted. Her stats from 18m are pretty outdated because that appt was back in Nov.
Toddler Likes and Dislikes: Likes cars, blocks, books, dancing to music, being carried 😢, being chased by her big brother, playing with all of big brother’s toys, dislikes being told no, having to stay in the stroller, cooked veggies
Your Toddler's Favorite Ways to Make a Mess: She makes a huge mess with her toys because she likes to take everything out but otherwise, she’s surprisingly neat. She likes to clean her hands and she wipes up any messes she makes.
Questions? Where are everyone’s toddlers at with speech? I think she’s on track but she’s now starting to have a few 2 word sentences and I feel like her brother had more at this point.

L definitely developed quicker in walking/motor skills than he has in speech. He babbles a TON and has pretty good receptive language, but he doesn't have many consistent words or phrases. He can repeat words ok (mostly names of family members) and will point to things when we ask him about things in a book, etc. But he is still in a phase of just pointing to stuff and going "eh, eh" when he wants something. So we're definitely working with him on using words to ask for things.

He still hit his head some this morning, but it definitely seemed to cut down on the middle of the night head banging. Either that, or it muffled the sound enough that I couldn't hear it on the monitor!
