Good morning! I was not happy to hear my alarm go off at at 5:30 this morning. Definitely going to miss being at home with the girls.

I’m back at work today. I’ve been awake since 2:30am. My 5 year old woke up with what I assume is growing pains, and I wasn’t able to fall back asleep. So...lots of caffeine today.
Due to being sick and vacation time/Christmas and New Years, I haven’t been to work in a long time. It’s going to feel weird going back, I’m just hoping I’m not going back to craziness.
I’ve been trying to participate more because I don’t want our bmb to die. I lurk other boards but have never really participated other than here.

I don't want our BMB to die either. I've been more absent this past month because of all the work travel and the holidays. My other BMB has been going for over 6 years and is starting to fizzle and it makes me sad.
Going back to a normal routine today is going to be weird. Oh, I think I mentioned a possibility of a new position at my company here. Well, I accepted a verbal offer last Friday for it! I'm a bit nervous because it'll be a lot to learn and I know I'm good at what I do now, but also excited for it.

I saw a new PCP on Friday and I liked her a lot. She did a bunch of labs, which are all normal. She wants me to see a sleep specialist because I'm exhausted and not sleeping well...like ever. I haven't slept through the night since before I was pregnant with J. I have an appointment with my OB today so we'll see how that goes. I have a couple of things to discuss with her too.
It was a rough morning getting the kids loaded up and off to daycare. Once they got there they were fine. Z is getting sick. I knew as soon as he went back to school, he would get sick again.
My other bmb moved over to a group on FB. We're not that active anymore, but at least we are still in touch.

I couldn't handle a second BMB facebook group though.

Congratulations cara! I worked Thursday and Friday last week, but it was still hard to get back in the swing of things today. L actually cried and kept running over to me at drop off this morning. His teacher had to distract him so I could sneak out.

klw - Yes, it'll require a bit more travel but honestly, I was having to travel more in my old position because of some company-wide training we were conducting. I figured I was already doing it anyway and we made it work so why not continue and gain more experience? The good part about it is that I can decide when I travel. I figure I'll make a trip every other month and that should be doable.

PennyCandy I'm glad you found a new doctor. I hope your sleep struggles can be figured out soon too.

Today will be the first drop off of the year. It’s been over two weeks so hopefully it goes smoothly.

What do your kiddos eat for a snack. I was transitioning her to 1 nap so she is eating lunch earlier in the day, but then we don't eat dinner until 6:30ish. So I was giving her a snack after her nap, but I need new ideas. Haley has fruits with breakfast, veggies for dinner and usually fruits and veggies with lunch.

klw we do snack bars like Plum Organics Jammy Sammys, graham crackers, goldfish, cheese, peanut butter chex cereal, Kodiak brand grahams, puffs, snap pea crisps On weekends. They do a wide variety of snacks at DC just no nut products. I like to do the jammy sammy because it has peanut butter in it.

Of course the jammy sammys are nearly $3 for a pack of 5. Ridic. When there's a $1 off coupon I buy a bunch. At some point after a few more teeth I'll probably just give him a half pbj lol.

I give her the baby bars that Gerber makes, kind of like nutrigrain bars. Or I give her crackers and fruit. Sometimes goldfish and a pouch. Sometimes dry cereal and fresh fruit.

TMI ahead. I've had hemorrhoids since I was pregnant that haven't improved much if at all with OTC treatments so my OB recommended surgery. I was expecting a prescription or something, not surgery. I've heard horror stories about how painful it is so I sent in an email to my PCP to try to figure out other options and she's referring me to the general surgeons at her clinic. She said they are a lot more conservative with hemorrhoid treatment so I really hope there's a better option than a hemorrhoidectomy. My boss did something really hurtful yesterday. I don't think it was intentional, but we are in this cycle of things going ok for a while and then she does something completely inappropriate or makes a huge mistake and it makes me mad all over again. I've talked to her and I've talked to her supervisor. The only thing that ever comes from it is "she is still learning." I'm over it. Like....I think I need a new job over it. I applied for another internal position here, but I don't think I'm going to get it so maybe I should just look elsewhere.

klw yesterday afternoon DS and I shared a tangerine on the way home (I walked to pick him up from DC) and then he was still hungry when we got there so I gave him cheerios. I offered him the bell pepper and hummus I was eating as well, and he wasn't interested. We do a lot of various crackers and dry cereal, apples (he gnaws at the whole thing, sometimes eating the seed and stem!), string cheese. I also like to defrost frozen peas in the microwave (just cover with water and cook for 30 sec - 1 min). I feel like they have a good amount of protein, and he really likes them!

PennyCandy, just to throw my 2cents in, my OB said the surgery is really painful and just not worth it. IME if you really work on diet (upping fiber and water, like a lot) and use OTC products you can get them to calm down considerably. anyway, sorry, they suck and i hope you can find a solution.

klw, i try to do protein for his snack-- cheese sticks, hard-boiled egg, Larabars, pretzels and raisins, raisins and cashew pieces. but honestly like 75% of the time it's a cheese stick, unless he already has cheese in his main dish. i've really been trying to simplify lunches lately for my own sanity.

Does anyone else have a weighted blanket? H bought me one for Christmas and I really do think that it is helping me to sleep better.

klw, my H got a giant-sized one (like, big enough for both of us, it weighs 1 zillion pounds), but we can't use it yet bc DS3 is still in the bed with us. :\

I got one for Christmas, too (twin size, so only on my side of the bed), and after a couple nights of waking up every time I needed to roll over, it is so cozy. It feels like it will be hot during the warmer months, though, so we'll have to see how it goes then.

I hope there are some other options for you PennyCandy. In regards to searching for a job, I say keep your eyes open. The good thing is you're not in a rush and don't have a timeline and can take your time looking for the right fit. I'm sorry. I know how miserable it can be to not enjoy your job.

klw - We do a lot of crackers, dry cereal and cheese sticks. We do also like the kid friendly Nutrigrain-type bars. Also, I did get a weighted blanket for Christmas but I don't think it'll be enough to keep me warm throughout the night so I'm trying to figure out if I'll sleep with it or not.
