My goodness it's been quiet around here these last few days. Long busy day at work followed by extremely tired kids, who needed a lot of kisses and hugs and tear wiping to go to sleep, only took us an hour and a half. Let's hope it's not a new trend. Now I need coffee.

Did I mention that Chase has a cold and is cutting at least 2 more teeth? Because he also got shots yesterday and has a double EI. Yay. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk Seriously that kid needs a break! And you do too...

Good morning. Dh let me sleep in. Which I feel a little guilty about because I was off alone yesterday. But I'll take it! We have no big plans today. Probably take C biking somewhere but that's about it. We have a butt load of laundry to do and need to pack C up for his trip to my in laws tomorrow. I am excited for the free time but nervous. How long is C staying with your in-laws? Three nights. We drop him off tomorrow and pick him up Saturday afternoon.

Got home a little after noon. Halfway here I realized I left my meds at my Dad's. Luckily my brother is going up there this weekend, so he'll get them for me. Pharmacy won't give me a refill because I just refilled them before I left. Oh well.

I just woke up to find the baby, B and DH sleeping--which means we were all napping simultaneously. This has never happened before; is it the end of the world or something? Anyone else still out there?

Happy Fourth! Last night we played mini golf then the kids went to bed and we had drinks with the people who own the house we are renting (there is a small apartment attached at the back.) This morning we went to the zoo then the beach. There were tons of dolphins in the Ocean. More fireworks on the beach tonight if we can stay awake.

Both kids have been down for over an hour -- no fireworks for us. Boo!

Just got home from fireworks; our friends joined us and their 8 y.o.niece (who's visiting) herded all the kids around the golf course while we waited for the show to start, so the parents got to relax and catch up.
Both kids did great and we just got them both put to bed. It was such a fun day; I kind of hate for it to end.

I need some advice.... lately its been a huge struggle to get N to eat dinner. When we get home from daycare he is a complete mess because he is so hungry/tired so I normally give him a fruit or yogurt as a snack before dinner. Once I serve dinner he normally eats a little, but then says he's done and goes to play. None of this would be an issue except as soon as bedtime comes around he is in complete meltdown mode because he's hungry and his belly hurts. I'm now thinking he doesn't eat at dinner knowing he can postpone bedtime a bit but I'm getting very frustrated and lose my patience quick and snap at him. I don't know how to solve this or make it better/easier.
ETA rough timeline 5:30 - get home/snack 7/7:30 - dinner 8:30 - bedtime routine ....it's now 10:30 and he's still awake.

Wonderful sentiments vino What are you doing with your non-holiday? Well since everyday is groundhog day over here, it's an exciting day that will consist of a Costco run and baby naps. But for now I'm listening to B tell Julia that he is going to miss her sooo much when he's at daycare but he's reassuring her that he'll be back and they'll build a rocketship to go to the moon together, but he is the only one that can say blast off. She's listening intensely of course. That's the most adorable thing ever.

Dh worked today so I spent the day purging my mom's house more. Another 8 garbage bags and a car load to good will. I'm going to ban her from shopping. Our big party is this Saturday.

Could you try bumping up dinner to like 6/6:30? Maybe eating earlier without a snack would get him to finish his dinner.

I'm so exhausted after today. We got home at 10 and S was done. She wasn't very happy the last bit we were at our friend's house and passed out on the way home. H was still raring to go so we watched fireworks from our deck for a little bit before we put her to bed.

cheeksmum What time does he eat lunch? Does he get an afternoon snack, what time? Also, does he eat a good breakfast and lunch? I've heard that normally kids won't have 3 big meals in a day, so he could be using the food as a stalling tactic for bedtime. I agree with trtlcrzy to bump up dinner, we are generally home close to 5 when I'm working and the latest we eat is 5:40pm otherwise our night is totally screwed. In any case, I'm sorry you're frustrated, i can imagine it makes for a long evening without any down time

How big is the snack. Maybe give it when you drive home or earlier. Our DC gives him a snack right before I pick him up

This is N's approx. daily routine 9:30am - wake up/DH gets him ready for DC 10:15/10:30 - dry cereal or half a peanut butter sandwich and some fruit on the ride to DC (2 minutes) 11:30/12 - lunch time (according to our provider he normally eats well) 12:30-2:30 - quiet time (all the other kids nap) 3:30/4 - snacktime 5:00-5:30 - pick up/get home (he's normally in meltdown mode by the time we get home because he's hungry)
As soon as we're home I start getting dinner ready and by the time I have it all cooked it's usually 6:30/7... depending how he's doing it is sometimes 7:30 if he won't play by himself or help me in the kitchen.
And if he doesn't get a snack when we get home then dinner is usually pushed to 7:30 because he's just losing it crying and clinging to me.

cheeksmum maybe the problem isn't that he isn't hungry, but that he is to tired... Maybe switch things around, dinner (prepped day before) at 5.30-6.00 and a snack around 7? If I know both of us are 'late' I either cook the day before or pick a meal that would be done within 20 minutes. Dh and I often eat after the kids go to bed on those days. ETA plus I'm sorry you're having such a hard time... it's sucks.

We do leftovers or super quick dinners during the week, bc when I'm working we don't get home till 6 or a few minutes after. We eat by 6:30, so if not leftovers, dinner is usually a sandwich or chicken strips and carrots or something easy. But usually we have something ready to just heat up I agree w others that it's the long wait between coming home and eating that's causing the problem Also... he sleeps past 9?? Wow!! I'm jealous

Happy belated 4th! Our vacation was a bust and we are heading home 4 days early. There is an awful stomach bug running through the cottage.... the cottage with ONE bathroom. Right now there are 5 people who have it. Lue also decided she hates sleep, I got the period from hell, I dropped my phone in the lake and I also fell in the lake.

This is what I do: I cover his dinner with plastic wrap and put it away, then I get it out again about ten minutes before bedtime routine and tell him it's his pre-bedtime snack. His two choices are to eat the food or get ready for bed.
