Cadence has her holiday program this morning. Apparently we should have gotten here an hour early. The cafeteria is packed and there's a line for visitor badges. Mine was preprinted, so no line for me, mh did not. Good luck to him on finding parking. I've never seen so many parents at the school and it's just for the kindergarten. The woman behind me is saving 4 seats! So ridiculous.

Morning!
Child 2 is off to school, so I’m puttering until child 1 gets picked up and then need to head out in a couple quick errands before preschool lets out.
DH’s work Christmas party is tonight. Neither of us are overly enthusiastic (so many of our friends have already moved on to other commands so I feel like it’s going to be mostly strangers there) but I have a new outfit and it’s a night out so trying to look on the bright side.

Speaking of the party, I am trying to refrain from going nuclear on the sitter. We booked this date with her the first week of November, have talked about it since, and I confirmed with her on Sat. for 6 pm.
We have had some...ahem, reliability issues with her recently, but decided to get through the Xmas party before blowing things up and finding someone new.
She texts me a little while ago and says that her job (she works at a TKD studio) asked her to work from 4-6, so is it ok if she comes b/n 6:15-6:30, “probably closer to 6:30”.

I feel like we have almost been *too* nice and accommodating in the past. Catch 22 and all, but dang.

Hi. At work and my eyes feels so heavy. I already had coffee and breakfast, but feel like I need another dose of caffeine. I should probably go to sleep extra early tonight.
Another sort of slow day. My morning is steady, but the afternoon will be dead. I got out a brand new notepad to make all the lists. We have some busy weeks coming up and I need to make sure my ducks are in a row.

klong11, at the girls' school they do a concert at the end of the year and when M was in K it was just kindergarteners and first graders on one night and those 2 grades made it impossible to park/find a spot to sit. Thankfully last year they divided it up to just one grade a night and even then it was still busy. Have fun at the performance but I'm eye-rolling the school for doing it in the morning. flamingo all the rage for you. That's so shitty. All she had to do is say she had prior arrangements and couldn't cover class.  kim22 happy birthday to your 2 yo!

Last night the girls and I finished watching Big. They loved it. It's always been one of my favorites. Such a cute movie.

I work at my other job Fri-SUN and I can't wait until it's over with. I've been super tired lately and that job always drains me because even when it's slow I have to be more "on." I hope it goes by quickly so I can be done with it for the month. Last night the girls and I finished watching Big. They loved it. It's always been one of my favorites. Such a cute movie. I bought the kids one of those huge piano mats for Christmas. Most of the stuff I got as gifts is to complete the playroom and I’m so excited: tabletop air hockey, Skeeball, a popcorn machine, huge fuzzy rug, gumball machine, play tent, etc. Can’t wait to see how much gum ends up in that new rug. |

flamingo all the rage for you. That's so shitty. All she had to do is say she had prior arrangements and couldn't cover class. kim22 happy birthday to your 2 yo! Bingo! Or like, “hey TKD master, I can help out til 5:45 but I have a prior commitment at 6”. FTR I would be very understanding of an emergency or whatever, or maybe even a one-off, but this seems to be becoming a pattern, hence my rage. I told DH and luckily we’ll just miss cocktail hour, but I’m freaking going to need those cocktails so we’re going to pregame and Uber. |

Also 👋🏻. I had to do some class observations & had time in my schedule to write it the report on them straight after. I’ll have to remember that this works so much better than doing it a week or even two weeks later! Dh bought chicken breast and veggies for dinner, which is perfectly fine but just not at all what I’m the mood for. So we switched it around to risotto.
Also I bought a Christmas three last Saturday, Dh put it inside today to acclimate. It.is.huge. Like over 8.5ft wtf was I thinking. We live in a small (1200sqft, on three levels) town house. I’m not even in the mood for Christmas this year, I’m laughing at myself for not thinking this through.

B thought it was "a little scary" But was still walking around saying "ET PHONE HOME!!!" I love that they are starting to watch more of my old favorites! |

Ooh, I think B would love Big! We watched Honey I Shrunk the Kids recently and he enjoyed that.
We got another RSVP for B’s party so we’re up to 10 kids, plus C and a friend’s 3 y.o. who is tagging along. So I think this will feel sufficiently festive and we won’t end up on Yahoo News having to invite the fire department or whatnot bc no one showed. 😬
Question: are y’all giving a holiday gift to your kids’ bus drivers? If so, what is appropriate? Cash? Gift card? Other?
