The Trying to Conceive After a Loss thread is posted once a week (generally on Tuesday) for those of us who have unfortunately experienced a loss. No matter what type of loss you've experienced, from miscarriage to stillbirth to the loss of a child, it is heartbreaking. This thread is to help us commiserate, get support, and to try to navigate trying to conceive, after a loss, every week.
Out of respect to all the ladies here, please add a trigger warning if you decide to talk about any living children and please hide your signature if it contains pictures or tickers of babies or children. We also kindly ask for grads to refrain from commenting in this thread.
**If this is your first check-in, and you would like to provide a gtky loss history intro go for it. If not, no worries!**
How are you doing?

Thanks for starting Never! I finally have a full day off, woot! I figure that, in the last 8 days, between paid work and working at the convention, I've probably worked over 100 hours. I'm so freaking tired t.t Been working on getting the new apartment set up, so I completely forgot ^^ Hubs is doing okay. Still kind of tired and having trouble concentrating sometimes, but much better than he was.
How are you doing? Okay, good, busy as seen above. Just worn out a little.
Status (TTA, TTC, Benched): Benched
Diagnosis (if applicable): RPL
Updates/questions: None
Debbie downer (a place to vent ): I still haven't heard from the hospital about my IUD removal t.t Also, freaking out over oral surgery in 3 1/2 weeks!!!
QOTW : What is your favourite movie that you can watch a million times and still love? Princess Bride and Mr. Nobody

Love the princess bride! I hope you hear re: your IUD soon! Thanks! Once everything settles down with the moving, if I haven't heard back, I'm going to be calling and going "uh, guys, wtf??". Moving the big stuff will be easy - H's bosses all felt really bad about his concussion and offered to come help move the big stuff, so we'll have like 4 big guys to move the furniture. It's moving all the small stuff that's going to be the pain!!

I hope it's ok if I jump in. TTC has starting getting to me mentally.
How are you doing? I'm struggling. Pregnancy announcements are happening all around me and while I'm very happy for everyone, I'm very frustrated with my body and scared we waited too long to start trying again.
Status (TTA, TTC, Benched): I had a CP five months ago and have been TTC since.
Diagnosis (if applicable): I don't have an official diagnosis but after tracking my cycles on FF, I suspected I have a short LP. I talked to my OB about it and she put me on progesterone suppositories. They've really messed with me. They give all the pregnancy symptoms out there, but I never get a BFP. I've felt miserable on them but it'd obviously be worth it if I ever get a BPF. It has just been hard because taking them has felt like a cruel trick.
Updates/questions: Has anyone else taken progesterone while TTC and had the same experience?
Debbie downer (a place to vent ) : I'm scared we waited too long to try again. I'm frustrated with my body. The progesterone makes me extremely emotional and moody which doesn't help anything. I don't think my H understands where I'm at with this emotionally and mentally.
QOTW : What is your favourite movie that you can watch a million times and still love? When Harry Met Sally!

I'm sorry cara I've not been on pregesterone but have heard similar stories. So cruel that it makes you feel KU. I know some people only start progesterone when they get a bfp? How short is your LP?

Before the progesterone I was at a 9-10 day LP. Right on the cusp of it being too short. My OB told me to start the progesterone at 3DPO and continue if I got a BFP, or stop at 14DPO if I got a BFN. I've heard of others starting after a BFP as well and am curious about what the difference may be.

How are you doing? Ok - life is super busy right now, so that's a good distraction.
Status (TTA, TTC, Benched): TTC
Diagnosis (if applicable): PCOS
Updates/questions: I had my HSG a couple months ago (it was all good) and my day FSH earlier this month (still waiting for results). And my husband is getting his sperm analysis done next week. So we'll see what happens with all of that. My husband and I both have work travel this coming week, meaning we won't be together Sunday-Friday, so I am hoping I ovulate Sunday or it comes late and we have a chance after this week. At this point, it's looking kinda likely that we'll miss our best days this month.
Debbie downer (a place to vent ) : So my loss was in September of 2016. I was devastated afterwards, but after a couple months, it started to get a little better. Now that I'm almost a year removed though, it's started to get worse again. I expected to be KU before hitting big milestones, and that hasn't happened. I guess it's probably normal to be feeling more negative about it as time wears on but it's frustrating.
QOTW : What is your favourite movie that you can watch a million times and still love? Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid. And only b/c of the music. I don't really enjoy re-watching movies otherwise.

nevertoomanyshoes - Talking about my m/c has helped me too. I'm glad it's giving you some relief. MsG - I'm sorry for your upcoming milestone. My EDD is Nov and if I'm not KU by then I know I'll be a wreck. How are you doing? Ok. Got lots going on so trying to keep my mind occupied. Status (TTA, TTC, Benched): TTC Diagnosis (if applicable): Unexplained IF Updates/questions: Not real updates. We're camping 4 of the next 5 weekends, so I'm trying to just let everything go, have fun, and not worry about TTC until fall. Easier said than done obv. Debbie downer (a place to vent ) : Other than the obvious, nothing much. QOTW : What is your favourite movie that you can watch a million times and still love? Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. I think at this point I could recite the whole movie myself

cara, I'm sorry, I totally meant to reply way before this. It's perfectly fine to jump in and out of here as needed. Pregnancy announcements are super difficult, and one of my big triggers too. I've taken to blocking them when they come on social media, and luckily they don't come too often for me IRL. Progesterone is the hormone that is responsible for telling our bodies "okay, get ready for a pregnancy!" and is the reason some women have sore breasts and irritability (e.i. pregnancy symptoms) a week before their period, because that's generally when it peaks before your body goes "oh, no egg here? Let's just trash this place then". So it makes sense that you'd be having lots of symptoms =/ Progesterone as produced by the mother is also the hormone responsible for maintaining the pregnancy until about 10 weeks when the sac takes over and starts producing it. Some women don't make enough on their own, and that's why their pregnancies fail, and why they end up taking progesterone after a BFP. Hope that helps explain it a bit. MsG, I'll keep my FX for you that you're able to BD somewhere around the right time! kariann, I hope you enjoy your camping trips! So jealous.

Speedy - Thanks! I'm mainly wondering what the benefit/difference is when some women are told to take progesterone after they O versus after they get a BFP.

cara, As far as I'm aware (I'm not an expert on this by any means, so keep that in mind), women who have a short LP are told to take it after they O in an attempt to elongate the LP so that the egg has a better chance of implanting. I believe that taking progesterone after a BFP is an attempt to prevent the lining from thinning out, denying a growing fetus of nutrients and eventually sloughing off.

How are you doing? Doing alright.. it's helped being so busy. We suddenly had to move across the country for a job opportunity so today is our first day not having to travel. We've been unpacking, and I hope to grab a nap here soon. Status (TTA, TTC, Benched): TTCish.. waiting for my period still. Diagnosis (if applicable): PCOS Updates/questions: I really don't have much to update on. Debbie downer (a place to vent ) : My first loss due date is coming up on Saturday. I can't believe I have to do this again in December QOTW : What is your favourite movie that you can watch a million times and still love? Oh gosh... I can't think of just one, or any at all at this moment. My brain has been on overdrive. Now I need to go back and catch up <3 <3

cara, we are happy to have you, but so sorry you find yourself here. Pregnancy announcements are so hard. Hugs <3 MsG, so many hugs.. it is definitely hard passing all these milestones while waiting for our rainbow babies. nevertoomanyshoes, I too have found it very helpful to talk about our losses. Holding it in only made it worse for me. Talking and writing poetry have been great outlets. I know it isn't right for everyone, but I'm glad we've found some relief somewhere <3 kariann, camping sounds like fun! I hope y'all have a good time! Speedy, I love the princess bride!
