Since we're purchasing a Switch I would also strongly recommend the carrying case. And my other pro tip is to purchase all games digitally because it's just 100000% easier to deal with having them all stored on the console versus having to keep track of game cartridges that are the size of a quarter. I feel this way about movies too but my H does not. It makes me insane that he still likes buying physical DVDs. So much space wasted.

X100000 to the benefits of the digital copies. We got DS a 2DS last year & basically all his games are misplaced at the moment. 🤦♀️

Does seem like kinda a big thing to wait to give at Easter lol. My H vetoed it. He hates how my kid zombie’s out on games/iPad. So he said let’s revisit when he really wants it. Easter 2027. This is my big issue too and why I'm super avoiding it. DS'd behavior just TANKS with too much screen time and pulling him away is just...argh.

Before that, I was purchasing videos through Xfinity but MH hated that because if we ever ditch Comcast, then I think we forfeit the videos. Now we just do it through iTunes via the Apple TV. Yes, I came into this relationship with a ton of movies on iTunes or Microsoft from my Xbox account. It makes H equally crazy that I purchase electronic movies lol.

Digging this back up to ask a Swirch question. I have three kids, how many extra joy con sets do we need? Do you use each half solo or as a set?

Oh I recommend physical purchase and if it's a flop I sell it to Game stop which saves money when buying another game. Plus you always own the game. Physical games also only store save data. They are cheaper on resell market.
On digital you get no monies back. If you stop your subscription you don't always have access to the game. It is nothing to keep up with.
The gamer boys told me all this.

Also I didn't see the carrying case as a must cause I don't allow for it to be carried anywhere anyway.
I do feel the controllers are more the must for a young kid.

Same. Plus you can find better deals on the physical copies! We don't have an online subscription at all and we also don't have a memory card. At this point it isn't needed. No problem with losing anything.

You do own the game with the digital copy. There's no subscription to keep up with. And my digital copies save the game data. And don't resell to game stop. They'll give you like 4 bucks for a 60 dollar game. They need to go out of business with the amount of ripping people off they do.

I'm tempted to pay for the NES Online subscription plan because you can access a bunch of the original 8 and 16 bit games. But I already have mini NES and SNES with preloaded games so that seems unnecessary.
As previously mentioned, the digital games do not require a subscription.

Ours are still over $10 each for trade and were bought at Game Stop for maybe $30.

Lol yeah I'm secretly working for the competitor and you just blew it wide open revealing there was an online calculator. You're dramatic. My experience is going there in person many years until I realized I could get 2 to 3x what they give me selling online. But KOKO. I wanted to share for the other people there are other places than game stop they can get more at.

At some point you might want to realize the issue is you.

I don't know off the top of my head. I could have said the incorrect thing.
I don't keep a subscription either.
With digital copies you take more memory was the point. Not just save the save data. You are storing the whole game.
I don't buy new games at all ever. Maybe Christmas and have never had an issue. So resell doesn't cost me. I have received more than $4 on my used games. Again, I have never paid $60 for a game so it's not a rip off for us (we have Xbox, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, Nintendo original, Atari original, Sega original).
Ultimately I recognize people will do what they want but we're a physical game home.

We have averaged getting half for games.
Again, I don't really buy new unless we're pressed.

I tend to prefer the physical too. I do have GamePass on my Xbox so I do some digital, but would much rather have the disc.

Ok so I called Game Stop and with older consoles (like the Xbox 360 production shut down or PS3), Sony removed the digital library of PS3 games from the PS store and closes the PS3 network but you still have a PS3 console. You can keep playing any disc based games and any you downloaded that are still on the console but if you downloaded and deleted from hard drive thinking you can reload later - you can't.
Nintendo also just did the same with the DSi store.
hence where I got the idea that it's not really yours etc. My bad.

I had to get down to Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360 games to get to $4 or less.
Trade in is an option if that is the route one chooses.

I wish the physical games came with a digital download. If you're talking about for gifting purchases, Gamestop will give you a used case if you ask. I reuse ours from old games. I put the download receipt inside and print the front of the game box (from a google search) to put in the front cover.

I originally meant just in case we lose the actual game we’d have a backup downloaded on the switch. I worry about my kid keeping up with those little things.
